it is definitely a good thing that you are taping this recovery from arrival to completion, because by giving you the keys to drive this truck out, the customer appears to be thinking that his truck is still in fairly good condition and imagine his reaction and surprise when he realizes that what you are bringing him back is nowhere near in the condition he thinks it was in when he left it.
After the missing tea bottle, I was starting to think the same thing. Either dude dumped the truck at night and didn't know the actual condition, or the truck itself rolled over on its own. I can't help but think when watching videos like this one, that people doing recovery like yourself are an incredible source of information for government agencies regarding dangerous road design/travel conditions. Do they ever use feedback like yours to put in safety measures or specialized warning signs? "Slow down! agree with others. zaklift was ideal due to size & weight. truck was trashed so simple matter to brute strength it up the hill. probably did the job in 1/2 the time due to simple rigging requirement. you’re the one guy i’ve seen that regularly applies geometry to your advantage. keeps me watching.
Sweet. Another Casey video. My day is good! That spot is definitely problematic. And, cameras NEVER show how big, how vast, or how steep anything is. You got your work cut out for you on this one.

So that causes me to have 2 questions. Did you get your Remote back? Is there a Magnet on the Remote? That would be impressive if the Remote made the very bumpy trip back to pavement.

@18:57... You mentioned turning your remote off, so when you're under the vehicle, you don't crush yourself; that very thing happened to a Santa Fe Tow employee, here in Kansas City. He put the remote in his pocket, got underneath (the remote activated) and he got crushed.

This truck was “just right” for this job. Yo got in, did the job, and didn’t endanger yourself, your equipment, or the client’s equipment on the job. That makes it 100% perfect for the job.
I don't think the Zacklift was overkill, because the time you may have lost driving slowly and rigging was more than made up for in the time it would have cost you having to snatch block off trees to hold the small wrecker in place. Those shrubs would have been a real struggle otherwise, and the truck may have tried to roll without the height of the Zacklift. Good call.
Definitely not overkill, it’s a reasonable dead weight and foliage that wants to keep it from moving, oh and a steep hill ! Nothing wrong with doing it easier than harder 👊🏻 great work again
The truck was right for the job. And towing the small truck with the big one makes sense. You wouldn’t bring a small wrecker to tow it. Besides I don’t thing the F 350 wrecker would have been to light to pull the pickup up the hill. You have to stake the back of truck down to keep it from sliding on the gravel road.
I went through your back library just this morning. and watched the video at that same spot where the driver had to be air lifted out and the truck was all the way in the water. by coincidence. Great job again from the UK.
Love the Zacklift! If I ever wanted to get into heavy recovery I would definitely go that route even if you don't NEED all that power for every job it reduces stress and damage on your lighter equipment. Keep them coming and remember I HATE YOU CASEY LADELLE!!!
I think it could be overkill, but your smaller wrecker would have struggled. I didn't see any easy trees on the opposite side of the road you could tie to, so the Zack Lift was the correct choice.
Reference the overkill question, the way the driver explained the situation in the beginning it might have been, once you arrived the truck of choice was just right. Slightly over sized and under worked is way better than the opposite alternative. Nice recovery.

It's funny about the remote because much earlier in the video I was thinking to myself if you had a spare one of those ready to go. Glad you didn't lose it, that would definitely suck.
Ha! For a brief moment there, I was thinking you had the wrong vehicle because the owner had all the details wrong, but then I remembered the toolbox. Hope he's okay.

You defiantly made the right call using the Western Star with the Zack-lift for this recovery. So sad though that truck got totaled. Hope it was Insured.
No, alcohol doesn't have to be involved. Looking at the cab, I wouldn't be surprised if the driver was unconscious for a short time - even just a few seconds!
@@rome0610 but he would presumably have had to exit the vehicle... that driver's door didn't open, and the windscreen is a lot... closer than it used to be... It is a shame that a roll-over like this totals a vehicle that has its mechanical parts still working, the effort of rebuilding the cab being more than the replacement cost of the entire vehicle...
@@rome0610 I was only referring to Casey's comment about how the driver made Casey believe that the truck was in better shape than it was. That it could be driven once back on the road.
In an effort to help you with the UA-cam algorithm, the western star with the Zack lift was a good choice to pull the truck up from the crash site, but it is a bit of an overkill to tow with
"Just slid off the road!!" 🤣🤣 "You can probably just drive it out when you get it back on the road." 🤣🤣🤣 I'm wondering if he had alcohol in his blood when he went off the road or he just wanted to let you be surprised!?! So..... just when did you discover your remote was NOT IN the truck but on it? Hope you found it before it went the way of the dinosaurs. 😆
From a safety point of view, using the Zacklift was the right choice as it was not in any way "stressed" to do the job. Your other truck could have done it, but would have been sketchy.
You dont want to use the "MONSTER TRUCK " to PICK UP A TRUCK IN A MUDSLIDE!!!! I FEEL YOU , BRUDDHA!!! HARD ENOUGH DRIVING IN WINTER, BUT ADD CLIFFS AND MUD... WE CAN ONLY GUESS HOW A 200K$ TRUCK WILL END UP AT THE END ......GOOD LUCK!
That truck was pretty much perfectly sized for recovering the pickup truck, as you said your smaller wrecker would have been playing tug of war to get that up out of there! It may however have been overkill for towing it off the mountain! 🤔

Casey this my 2nd video I’ve watched you and you are awesome keep your light shining for all to see you are the greatest I wish I lived by you I think I’d like spending time with you keep up th good work you do and I love how you love to help people
Sisters is the great speedbump on the way to Bend.
I watched you when a snowcat went over the edge and half way down the Mt. exciting stuff you film.Thanks.😊
It's funny about the remote because much earlier in the video I was thinking to myself if you had a spare one of those ready to go. Glad you didn't lose it, that would definitely suck.
the truck was correct for the job as it was the best tool to get the job done. multi pull points and stregth. That makes for a safer recovery.
I haven’t finished watching yet, but something in me hopes that the conversation of you asking him if he knew it rolled over is in here 😂😂
Ha! For a brief moment there, I was thinking you had the wrong vehicle because the owner had all the details wrong, but then I remembered the toolbox. Hope he's okay.
There is a reason why most of Sisters goes to Bend for their food shopping. And Subway has been fighting staffing issues for a long time.
You’re the epitome of good business. Gone are the times where helping out for goodness sakes it’s nice to see it’s not lost on you. I know there are operating costs but to see how you use your sponsorships and friends I love it
You used the right tool for the job!
You did everything right, filming, helper, big truck,
28 years ago I was doing a heavy recovery which I notified department of Hiways! They sent out flaggers because I was using the far ditch to help anchor my truck and I had my lines going across the road and down to the semi trailer! Some idiot decided that he wasn't going to stop almost wiped out the flag girl came ripping around the corner and hit my lines which were tight! Luckily I had run them low they cut through the front and pushed the motor & transmission back!
Nope
@@CaseyLaDelle you and I have something in common! I have a colostomy and this is where I beat you because I a urostomy as well!!
22 years fighting cancer on & off and 56 surgeries later and I'm still going just not fast!
I think ZAK was a good choice of recovery truck, make the job a lot easier.
Another great video, along with some pretty remote view.
People find the darnedest ways to create unique problems for a tow operator. But it was a good thing you had the keys...
Now we have to wait for another Zacklift video to learn if you spotted the remote! :) Hope so :)
Just found you. I really watching smart people solve problems.
SUGGESTION
Why not put Velcro on your REMOTE and sew patch on a safety vest. Put vest in tool box with remote and when you need out on vest and you can pay your heart with the remote to fee up your hand.
Always know where that vital remote is😊
Thanks for cleaning up the trash
Sometimes just using the Bigger Hammer works best
The Heavy Wrecker was perfect for that job
Keys did come in handy 😎
You defiantly made the right call using the Western Star with the Zack-lift for this recovery. So sad though that truck got totaled. Hope it was Insured.
The driver must have been drunk to think it wasn't that bad LoL
I was wondering how he managed to climb out of it and not know.
In the words of the mythbusters creedo. "If its worth doin, its worth overdoin.". Good job casey
Like the time they didn't think a cannon ball would go very far?
Hehe yeah...oops
Well volunteered Elite Fleet, helping Casey keep the mountains clear of stuck trucks is always a great idea ❤
