Hacienda Sotuta de Peon - Yucatan, Mexico

Had the pleasure of visiting Merida and its surrounding areas with family.
One of the highlights was an old still working (for tourism) Henequen factory now converted into a museum and hotel.
The Hacienda shows how they used to make Henequen ropes and also used for textiles in the New Spain and early years of independent Mexico.
Unfortunately, the introduction of artificial textiles and high process cotton would sink the industry.
Forcing most of them to close who now work mostly as museums.
The Hacienda offers restaurants, hotel, tour, full working textile factory for showcasing, stores, donkey pulled rail carriages and it's own private cenote.
