YUCATAN The Culture Is Nature, The Culture Is Maya

- To the rhythm of mariachis and traditional dancing, the film by Pierre Brouwers guides you across Yucatan, this Mexican state that juts out into the Caribbean sea. From the white sandy beaches of the Maya river to huge green expanses where the sites of Calakmul or Coba barely emerge from the forest, the cameras take you to not only the most prestigious Maya sites, but also other lesser known locations that from an archaeological perspective are just as interesting. Spectacular caves and rocks, mangroves and nature reserves form the décor in which one of America’s most fascinating civilizations developed and flourished. -

I lived in Mérida Yucatan for 8 years and you made me miss it so much! Good job! Such an amazing area. Magical and the gifts I got from my time there are immense but it's soooo hot..I couldn't stand the heat anymore. A big piece of my heart always lives there! Thanks for the visit!
The filming itself is great, it's just the volume of the soundtrack, & the narration being somewhat drowned out that detracts from it but otherwise a top doco. Love the Mayan drumming ☀💀🌶
That's Aztec music playing! This is how lies spread!
I wanted to use this in class, but I, too, feel the music is too loud and distracts from the narration.
Brilliant documentary with impressive scenes, music and above all, to the point unusual delivery. A real pleasure. Congratulations!
I HEAR, EVERYTHING, BACK GROUND, AND PERSON TALKING..GREAT JOB, THANK YOU
The music on this documentary is super loud in comparion to his voice...
I was just about to post a comment about whether or not I'm the only one who feels like that. Haha
Almost impossible to watch this, even though the content is great!
I agree. I so much want to hear what is being said but at times, I cannot. There aren't even subtitles to help. alas. I understand it'd be difficult to redo the sound for the video but, if they would enable subtitles that would help immensely.
Здравствуйте. Какой интересный дизайн в архитектуре современный!
I love the video … awesome job!
Loud background music, but still very enjoyable.
Thank you.
Another video ruined by background music overwhelming the narration. UA-cam needs to deal with this issue directly.
the song at 47:20 sounds so good where can i find the soundtrack for this documentary
Love this area, although from doing some of these tours, you would think they would know their facts better, ask any Mayan and they'll tell you, they aren't pyramids, they are temples and I've confirmed with 3 different mayan tour operators, one of which grew up in the Coba area, it's the winners of these games who gets beheaded as a sacrifice to the Gods.
Some of the most beautiful richly cultured people I have ever met and so happy to share it with you. I'd move there in a heartbeat if I could find a way.
play the lotto, its why i play it , just a little hope , one day i will take my ancestors dna home , i live in uk btw
OMG, same! Mexico in general blew my mind, I am trying to find ways to go back for longer.
Why is the music so loud over the narration? It’s giving me a headache. Never narrate over music please.
The soundtrack needs remastered.
1.2.2022.Very good.
Since I'm bilingual.... I hear spanish on left ear and english on my right ear at the same time.
Interested in teaching me Spanish? If so, what’s your email?
@@mylifetoenjoystill interested?
thank to best documentary
Great video but sound quality lacking.
Больше всего нравится в этом фильме выпускники вузов Мексики! Ура!
Have you re uploaded this with the audio corrected? If so please share the link.
If not, why not?
Seriously, it could be an imformative video if we could only hear the commentary over the frankly annoying music.
:)
thanks for sharing! next time please adjust audio volume of voice over and music... keep up the good work!
Gracious.... 😘😘😘
🥰 my Grandmother was part Indigenous from here.✨🌹✨
This was the beginning of the creation of all of America. Of where Amerigo the explore visited and never thought of changing it or hurting the native people Amerigo never wanted any credit for it, until one of his good friends that drew the map of the world placed his great friends name on the map because Amerigo was the explore responsable of knowing about mapping all the lands since Amerigo did not know what that part of the land was named his friend placed Amerigos name smack in the middle of the map of the Unknown land which we call America today. That is why all this land from Canada, North, Central, and South is the Contanant of America it's not only North America it's way huge. There were RUMORS Columbus set foot in our American Contenant little did we know he never set foot here, he just claimed to say he did, while his goal was to reach India the land of sparkly shinny buildings full of jewlery and silk Colorful clothing he never reached it. Columbus did began calling the natives living around the lands Indians, the man had no idea what he was doing one thing Columbus was great at lieing to everyone. Sorry to let you know he just kind of cruised by the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula that's it. Mexico or the part of Mexico is were it all began the creation of America and the American Dream and the begining of the story of America, later on was when the English did not want to stay behind wich the USA will always be no matter what behind Mexico it was because of the arrival of the Spanish Qonquistadores at the time they were the all mighty way more powerful and smarter than England. I can't believe many of you don't have knowledge of any of this. This video was not Medival Mexican history, it's The main reason why America is America, Mexico has always been the most desired most wanted land except the Spanish claimed it first USA or North America was what Queen Elisabeth was left with she had no choice, she was desperate to be stronger than Spain, because Spain has always been a step above anyone Mexico was chosen because of the buildings, nature, how different crops could grow there the hard working Colorful people there culture the women everything.
True Maya don't have Mariachi. Mariachi is mostly from the west side of Mexico which are Aztec with Spanish Influence. Looks like the Mayan culture is being overlapped by the Aztec/Mexican.
It looks like a bunch of bullshit just for entertainment, tourism, and resort. All arteficial.
Great video. But is there any way to edit this to either bring the back track music down and the voice over up? I can barely hear the dialogue info bc the back track is way too loud.
bro please reupload with a better balance for the soundtrack, turn down the music and turn up the voice
Gracias
Los Voladores De Papantla... I Animales Exóticos jaja Que bonito es Yucatán
thoroughly enjoyable except the voice overs cancelling each other out. What a fabulous part of the world. I remember the sites and Merida being suffocatingly hot and humid or I'd think about moving there to live!
Busco a Juan Pérez cuando Nasca otraves
The documentary jumps from topic to topic without fully explaining the concepts like a 100 facts "Did you know" video. The music is too loud compared to the narrator as it masks up what is being spoken. There is also no CC to read.
At 12:50, two people are talking over each other making it even harder to comprehend what is being said.
It is so hard to hear what they are saying. The audio is messed up.
Voladores? Mariachis? Not Yucatan, homies. Andean flutes? Nice touch. 00:06 This dude is a Northern Mexican - not a YUcateco.
music too loud
Mariachi music is from Aztec-Mexicans not Mayans
Quema la rama
man, was there in the 70's and all they had was the Aristos but in conversation with a local I was told that it was going to be big with it all planned out by computer in Mexico city
If you use headphones you will be able to hear the voice better
В добрый путь, будущее страны.
Whats with the map at the end?
Really
I’ll be the first to say
The music!
.....oh wait, what’s this?
Can not really hear the voice well with such loud music ...
Ya lo ve
TERRIBLE EDITING...WE CAN'T HEAR THE VOICE OVERS AND MUSIC IS TOO LOUD.
The music drowns out the narration it's a pain in arse.
Mariachis if in yucatan are there for entertaining they are not from Yucatan...😒
I read "mariachis" and was immediately turned off. Mariachis have nothing to do with this area
Wrong side of Mexico! Wrong culture! Aztecs are in relation to mariachi not Mayans.....
Perhaps but it exists there. It's not saying that it originated there.
Why is the background music so loud, in the forground!
Needs money
Cam anyone tell me the sources of thus vid that's all I need
Busco al iro
Ya alta vos eso me recuerdo*
why does the sound, sound like that on my bluetooth speaker.? can you fix it for future students
La macarnea
Mariachis and Mexican food are foreign to the region just like Burger king etc. Try going to the interior Yucatan food nick nacks made by the natives Mayan that is. have fun.
Very informative
Austin Grimes Shut the fuck up dumbass
I. Ivanovich no, you shut up Internet troll
Quito
The background music is so loud 😢
Crazy comment on the pyramids that the Egyptians (3.000 years earlier!) had "technical means" the Mayas did not have. What was that?
Copper chisels are one big difference - the Maya did not have metal tools but used stone to chisel out limestone blocks and used obsidian shard tools to do the fine carving. Also, in Egypt the vast amount of sand meant that various methods of pushing large blocks or obelisks on the sand and then digging the and away from underneath could be used to manipulate huge pieces of stone. Imagine a long stone block lying on the sand - if you dig the sand away at one end you could end up with the block standing on end without actually lifting it... One more thing is that the Maya had no units of measurement at all!! They did everything by using rope, look it up it's fascinating.
is that comment any worse than the Maya feared death, which is a total miss interpretation , if they fear death explain day of the dead, this was a Mayan tradition , no native race of the americas as such feared death , they feared bad spirits yes but that is not the same thing , i think when people talk about Mexico and Mexicans they often lie, like that orange thing usa as for a leader , he went to far though , Mexico is way pissed at him and their trade is in serious trouble , and now with the fruit rotting in their fields and Mexico refusing usa imports tramp is heading usa into a crisis of fruit and veg shortage and prices will fly up, best get planting people , seriously , i am proud of my ancestral races , Maya is one of them
Que paso
Oh and I've just noticed that when spoken at the same volume I cannot listen to two languages that I can speak at the same time .
probably just me.
Terrible audio editing. Music is way too loud, and translating at the same time as the other person speaking, makes it so you can't understand either. Otherwise great video.
Baila
Very LOUD background music really spoiled the video. What a pity....
Ausilio
Y también me caigo
Im my language, Maya are birds similar to sparrows.
amigo look like vn
Needs sound quality adjustment -- all the background sound is disruptively loud and overpowers narrative. Close Captions were not available after a lot of effort, as well. A lot of valuable info is lost in the ruckus.
Mato
Pásamelo
There's very little pure Maya blood
In comparison to other native nations the Maya are indeed very strong in numbers throughout Central America and Mexico
wish I could hear the narrator --music is too loud
I am unable to watch as the music is louder than the narrative of what otherwise would be an informative video .
The music is way too loud.
Funny
Nomas con qué no maltraten al caballito, les den agua y de comer...hay bolsas que se les ponen para que hagan su necesidad y lo otro es puro liquido y se seca..nomas se le echa agua con poquito pinol y ya...
I wanted to watch this as the yucatan is one of my favourite places, the shitty music and the overriding volume annoyed me so much I quit.
the torment of the incessant noise of the perineal mariachi is insufferable !!!!!
Mariachi music and the voladores de Ppantla, the guys that turn upside down on a pole, have nothing to do with Yucatan.
12:47 what is this cluster fuck of background music, native guy, and narrator with the same volume
Cancún isnt even in Yucatan
Yucatán peninsula but not Yucatán state
£150
Dos XX is not a night club
False Accussations From Europeans. in...... 3........2.........1......... Jajajaja
Yup!
Lol yes
Audio is horrible mixed voices don't work.
$$
Nice content, but terrible sound. I took sedative pills when watching.
i beleve much of this video was filmed at a resort...
Don´t be mamón
Place looks over run by tourists.. and loud..
Мексика не нравится мне, очень шумно, песни, танцы и прочее всеоглушающее.
haha is that a mexican version of medeval times??
hdjd jdjd l that's got to be one of the dumbest things I've read Lool..
hdjd jdjd Not Mexican at all you genius. At that time Mexico didn't even exist. Plus Mayan culture existed not only in what is now Mexico but also some parts of Central America such as Guatemala.
Не нравится ещё из за фильма дети кукурузы и жатва, жуть !
the place is totally ruined by horrendous hotels and such...a gaudy hell on earth...the music drowns out the narrative...
this documentary is surprisingly colonialist and arguably racist as well. along with that, and for many reasons that other posters get to, i agree with most of the other comments posted here.
Why is it so discouraging to travel anywhere after you watch UA-cam travel videos? Boring, better to stay home.
I'm number 17 on the thumbs down icon. When the sound mixer dummies turn up the background "music" to be louder than, or as loud as the narrator, I don't stick around for that noise pollution. Welcome Pierre Brouwers et al. to the Mickey Mouse Club Awards for amateurish videos. Maybe being brought up on Beach Blanket Bingo and Elvis Presley movies wasn't such a good thing.
Free the whole Yucatán before it’s Destroyed. I’m Mayan and in the name of progress it’s being destroyed. And invaded from Mexicans with with regard to our culture and way of life.
Dam bruh I come from violence
