The "world's way" is have sex and possible children out of wedlock while suffering various relationship fallouts, then move in with someone at a very low level of commitment and have repeated fallouts and breakups constantly making you move in or out and be unstable, then get married when you're old and plan on never having children because let's face it your life is all about you and you would never want to care for another human being. Moving in with someone changes the entire dynamic of a relationship. I would listen to Steve and if you still feel the same way months later try it out with a best friend first so you can find out your ground rules and what you will and won't allow in your personal space... Then if he wants to move in (which he should show interest in) then you can break down ground rules that you both agree upon. I've had woman move in with me because I suggested it not because they wanted to. They saved money on rent and I was in a terrible situation :/

I moved in with my husband before we were married, and I never realized how many things were ‘men’ things--leaving shoes all over the pace, leaving clothes on the bathroom floor, leave shaving cream on the sink, toothpaste lid off the toothpaste, leave the cabinets open, etc. I love my husband dearly BUT ……..WHEW!!! @@callanc3925 Yeah man I agree. I lived with an ex and did not know how messy she was until we lived together. I found myself doing more of the cleaning and 95% of the cooking lol. Funny thing is I also paid all of the household bills. Only thing she had to pay was her car payments and car insurance. She was just not the type to do all of these things. I was relieved that I didn't just marry her after years of dating. I stuck with this mindset even with my wife. We got a place together, I proposed 4 months later and we got married 4 months after that. We did all of this (including buying a house) before the lease was out. She was much cleaner, she was willing to cook and workable. When I realized we jelled I had no problem in marrying her because I knew she would be a good wife.

I would listen to Steve and if you still feel the same way months later try it out with a best friend first so you can find out your ground rules and what you will and won't allow in your personal space... Then if he wants to move in (which he should show interest in) then you can break down ground rules that you both agree upon. I've had woman move in with me because I suggested it not because they wanted to. They saved money on rent and I was in a terrible situation :/

How do we feel vice versa, I moved with my boyfriend with the intent to move and get my own place after I pay down my debt ! We have been happy now for seven months, no arguments, no issue of who does what etc… we work as a team and make sure each other good even when we aren’t at our best

I moved in with my husband before we were married, and I never realized how many things were ‘men’ things--leaving shoes all over the pace, leaving clothes on the bathroom floor, leave shaving cream on the sink, toothpaste lid off the toothpaste, leave the cabinets open, etc. I love my husband dearly BUT ……..WHEW!!! They are a lot of work.
That's not men things. That is just your husband. I am a man and I have guy roommates, none of us do this. That would drive me crazy

@@callanc3925 Yeah man I agree. I lived with an ex and did not know how messy she was until we lived together. I found myself doing more of the cleaning and 95% of the cooking lol. Funny thing is I also paid all of the household bills. Only thing she had to pay was her car payments and car insurance. She was just not the type to do all of these things. I was relieved that I didn't just marry her after years of dating. I stuck with this mindset even with my wife. We got a place together, I proposed 4 months later and we got married 4 months after that. We did all of this (including buying a house) before the lease was out. She was much cleaner, she was willing to cook and workable. When I realized we jelled I had no problem in marrying her because I knew she would be a good wife.

This attitude really befuddles me...In my country it is preferred that the couple live together for a while before they get married! Me and my husband lived together for 2 years before the wedding. Imagine moving in after the wedding and only then realising that they have some nasty habits that you can't stand or can't compromise on? It is so easy to present yourself as a decent person to someone you are not spending 24/7 with! I am sorry to say that but only in the US all relationships seem to be viewed as something transactional! I'll give you this if you give me that! Spend that much on the ring, buy this, buy that, and in exchange I'll do this and this, I won't do that though...It's so stupid! Seems to me that you are more concerned with what you get out of the relationship than what you give! And when you are constantly calculating what you are giving and if you are getting the same in return, I don't see how you can consider that a meaningful relationship! You give all you can and all you have when you love someone, period! If you have conditions and especially if you express them in monetary terms, that's not a relationship, that's a contract! Try asking your man to spend a specific amount of money on your engagement ring where I live - he will dump your ass right there and then! And we don't have nowhere near the amount of failed marriages that you do over there!
