That’s because you’re comparing Stevie to mainstream artists who play a completely different genre of music. Compare Stevie to modern funk artists instead
@@CouchEconomyTX Even most of the funk/R&B artists of today don't hold a candle to this. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of modern artists keeping this feel/vibe alive but most don't have the pure mastery of Stevie. PJ Morton and Anderson Paak are some examples of contemporary artists who are killing it.
Stevie's so good he got the whole band to switch to left handed instruments, and switch back near the end - and you all thought James Brown was a tough taskmaster....
It's funny that I should have noticed all those "left handed" guitarists, but the first thing I took note of the the left handed conga player. I was trying to follow along and kept getting messed up when he was using his left hand when I was expecting his right. I was saying "this guy has got to be a left handed conga" After a while I saw the bassist "switch" guitars and then see Stevie play his backwards keyboard.
Damn I enjoyed growing up as a white teenager enjoying Stevie and all that the Motiwn artists offered. Can't be repeated people.......Going to have to buy the "REAL STUFF" from that era. You'll be glad you did.
If there are those amongst you that have not checked out the MOGG file of this song you must go locate it and have some knowledge dropped on yer ass. The multi-track master reveals many secrets. I won't spoil it for you
@slugmojo My best guess would be Reggie McBride. Scott Edwards played with him around 1972 but isn't a lefty, and I've read forum posts by Scott saying that Reggie McBride followed him playing w/Stevie in 1973. After that it was Nathan Watts, who I think is still playing with Stevie, but I don't think Watts was there yet in 1973 when this was recorded. I don't know anything about McBride myself
There was no guitar on the original release. Stevie played everything except the horns..jeff had an earlier version of this song, but Stevie's version was released first..
Everyone talking about left handed guitarists and having to be ambidextrous, Its actually very harmful to try and make yourself ambidextrous as a musician since it messes up your neutral paths. Also, I don't think left handed trumpets exist, unless this trumpet player has 2, one left and one right, the video has definitely been flipped half way through and then back again. At 1:49 he is playing with his left hand, 4:31 he is playing with his right. I checked and its not the same trumpet different hands.
+zacebbflo Agree. At 1:49 the trumpet player is enlightened from right with visible eadphone pad on his left ear, then at 4:31 he is enlightened from left with visible pad of the eadphone on the left ear.
+zacebbflo ... Much of the image sequences of this video are mirrorings. This is very irritating. A version without mirrorings is (at the moment) also available on UA-cam.
No one has mentioned about the great Trumpeter in here (best in any version Superstision...my opinion) but story back in the day was he was a hung like a moose porn star!! that is when he wasn't playing trumpet in the studio. Truth was that he only resembled the porn star. Wish I could remember their names but as I cannot I hope someone else recalls this and adds on. I just love this guys trumpet play.
The left handed bass guitarist sounds ok to me. Funny that give a left hander a bass guitar and they can perform splendidly but give them a can a beans and a normal tin opener and they end up with a plaster:)
Never before, and never again, will a turtleneck sweater ever be so thoroughly rocked.
+Acting DeMickey Not on a guy anyways.............
steve jobs did it bad ass too cmon
Acting DeMickey Graham Clarke of the byrds did a good one
They rockin it now
@@PachinhoG2024 yessss
The trumpet player is AWESOME!
there's more talent in that studio than maybe the entire music industry of 2019
I would argue the most talent than all of the year 2000 to now🤷🏾♀️
That’s because you’re comparing Stevie to mainstream artists who play a completely different genre of music.

TRUE THAT Donald. now you can add the year 2022.
that's one of the cleverest music comments i've ever read. totally agree
Can you imagine how badass it would be if your job was to jam with Stevie Wonder? During the 70s when he was like a musical channel for god?
Nothing like a rare version of an
old classic.
Stevie's so good he got the whole band to switch to left handed instruments, and switch back near the end - and you all thought James Brown was a tough taskmaster....
Good catch
🤣🤣🤣
Someone spliced some of the film backwards 💀
Happy birthday Superstition ! Never gets old !!!
Absolutely wonderful, and I love the head shake Stevie does when he pulls back from the microphone.
My dad once said that this song could still easily rock the charts today and not sound dated...
Heck yeah he is right
My son has an afro and sometimes he wears his headphones so much that it leaves a path in his fro from ear to ear...it looks hilarious...
Do now who song don't what woman runing around whith every man in town love rock

Truly a Masterpiece
Old Is Gold Ever Green Song By Steve wonder at 70's,,,All thanks.

Just ordered this mic, the RE20. Can't wait :)
lol it's not known for it's looks. I guess that's why Stevie loved it lol
Fantastic! An alternate version of a classic!!
i don't approve of cloning but got damn we need some stevie clones lol
Wow, fantastic video. I do love Stevie.
This is the best version of this song I ever heard. Was it ever released on any LP or EP?
excellent fucking question, been looking for this version for years
big boy blowing up that horn!
Gracias.
Great music
Damn, Ron Jeremy is left handed.
Who knew?
I love this video!
How the F can he play that crazy keyboard sequence and sing like that? Insane.
He's Stevie. That's how.
you just can't denie the great classic.
Damn I enjoyed growing up as a white teenager enjoying Stevie and all that the Motiwn artists offered. Can't be repeated people.......Going to have to buy the "REAL STUFF" from that era. You'll be glad you did.
I agree - Steve Madaio on trumpet
The goat
lmfao.....too funny great post buddy

This is wicked! The bass player is Reggie McBride not James Jameson as written below.
Very 1970s clavinet sound.
💛
its in mirror??!! great!
This is the fucking style
sounds amazing, but this screaming in the background just killed me. I laughted:D 1:07

Folks back then were naturally kool. No pretentious put one. Nope they were KOOL.

You are right Josh, I think it is Reggie too. Great player.
And in fact i got a silver in a national competition a month ago.
no lefty here, the video is flipped ! just watch it until the end...!
What are the odds that all of these musicians are left handed?🤣
They switched instruments so seamlessly, mid-song!
who got Pablo escabar playing trumpet
Man... that bass variation at 01:59 is tasty as a mother
Thought I was the only one the noticed that!!
@jamersonshook
Yeah I heard he used to yell at this band......your ambidextrous, or you're fired!
So sorry this video is symetricly inverted
James Jamerson on bass!!!!! the god of bass
Bilah M not Jamerson, it's Scotty Edwards
It's not James it is Reggie McBride by the looks of it.
When I play piano like that ppl cover their ears.
RON JEREMY plays the trumpet?!?
😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😃😃😃😁😁😎
Thought that was pablo escobar lol
The video is flipped
James Jamerson at bass GODDAmmm
What do you mean? What's the story? I was born in 1975 so this era is before my time.
Wasn't it Jeff Beck on guitar on the original recording? Anyway...great song, great musicianship...
There was no guitar on the original release. Stevie played everything except the horns..jeff had an earlier version of this song, but Stevie's version was released first..
Ever heard of a little-known trumpet player called Dizzy Gillespie...?
1:29 oh dear 😮💨
he was a sexy man
better audio quality please?
Who dislikes this?????????
Ollie Brown is on drums here.
He's plenty damn cool, gave up the performing ranks and is in Detroit-area real estate.

Hasn't had a negative effect on me. Sounds like pseudo science.
who the hell is that left handed bass player?
who is the trumpet player ?
Steve Madaio
***** thanks
where is tenor sax
Where's Jeff Beck?
It's Eddie Murphy 😮
Playing rhythm like a drummer...well, he does play drums too
@icebytes Not on this song friend
DONT PUFF UR CHEEKS UP WHEN PLAYING AN AIR INSTRUMENT!
He got paid to be a blowfish. That's Ron Jeremy. Eat it Just like a taco! Hahahahahahahahaha inside joke!

@mikdes56 Steve Madaio
sizno just an impression
0:45 Pablo Escobar on trumpet?))
Hi - just my strange sense of humour. The video is 'inverted' so everybody looks athough they are left handed...
You're spot on, but strangely they revert it back to normal sometime after the 4:24 mark. Odd.
He 13 omg
RU NUTS? any fool can see online/Wiki that he was born in 1950- he was 23, not 13
These cats are two below zero .....
The left handed bass guitarist sounds ok to me. Funny that give a left hander a bass guitar and they can perform splendidly but give them a can a beans and a normal tin opener and they end up with a plaster:)
This drummer's awful tempo must have been the reason that click tracks were used from this time on.....
Gracias.
