I had not seen this Documentary before, I appreciate the share
(I continue to hold "knowing thoughts" that our Now Era Academics will return to the "Standards of Science and Research" which includes the "Mind being fully Open, absent in any predetermined Beliefs, Theories, Opinions, and including all relative data, artifacts, Oral and Written Histories, and allowing the Research Methodologies to extract the greater facts".)
To hold a "19th Century Theory as the Foundation of the accepted Paradigm and Linear Timeline", using it as a Tool of Measure, excluding what doesnt fit or support the Paradigm, is a departure from the "Authentic, Standards of Science and Research".
To continue to focus on Paradigm over the Standards, and further, to threaten those whom are following the Standards, causing them loos of reputation and funding for their works, is fully unethical and clearly a "Lower Mind, aka Ego Mind, aka Adolescent Minded" behavior.
Those whom follow the"Standards of Science and Research are "Authentic Academics".
Those whom practice the Paradigm are known as "Mainstream Academics".
It is imperative that Academics be in a practiced habit of "Conscious in Thought" + "Applying Higher Mind" aka Mature Minded.
Ethics and Integrity are the Gold Standard.
    Beth Bartlett
    Sociologist/Behavioralist
    and Historian
    an "Authentic Academic"
    PS:
Facts, the Truths, are the value of Discoveries. Freedom to exercise that Standards and Research Methodologies is absolutely necessary to demonstrate USA Constitutional Freedom, Freedom of Speech, requires Freedom of Thoughts, and in Academics, Freedom of Findings.
Acknowledge the Peer Reviewed Science Findings.
Note: in this subject's case, Geology is used to discern and validate. In the case of the Sphinx in Egypt, "Peer Reviewed Science" and "Journal Published Findings", date the Sphinx to 11,500 BCE, (the most conservative date, I might add), by Robert Schoch, PhD, Geophysicist, Professor Boston College, (Yale Grad).
These findings were established in the 1990's, yet "Mainstream Archaeologists and Egyptologists" fully ignore these Facts.
That is unacceptable Academic Behavior. The Standards must be respected and enforced.
Mainstream Academia has lost credibility, has fictionalized the History in Textbooks, and has stalled the Exploratios and Discoveries, by interfering with the Freedom to accomplish works with greater facts.
    This is changing ...

All artifacts removed from sites and displayed in museums or personal collections are the result of looting whether by the picks and shovels of low paid peons just trying to earn a few pesos to feed their families or by fully funded academic institutions of higher learning who use the same low paid peons to do all their dirty work. 100 years ago archeologists were all looting treasure hunters greed was the motive and educational/cultural value just a questionably legal excuse to loot and desercate., An example is cowboy named Richard Wetherwill of early Southwest Archeological fame was a cowboy turned looter, selling his finds to museums, institutions and private collectors who funded his "expeditions" He was murdered in Chaco canyon during his final looting spree there. Just how many graves of the local people with living decendants did Mr Wetherwill loot and desecrate? Not to mention the hordes of egomaniacal archeologists desecrating in order to promote their illustrious careers in academia circles, boxing up the bones of our ancestors and sending them off of some artifact warehouse or museum basement, likely to never be seen or reinterred again, much less actually studied by those who desecrated the graves.I wonder how the archeologist would feel. or if he/she would feel anything at all, if i dug up his great or great great grandmother and pulled her gold or silver teeth, stole her favorite neckless, bracelet and finger ring, never even giving it a second thought that i was doing something very wrong. whether i did it in the name of science, or did it for personal greed or did it for somebody else in order to feed my hungry family.

The discovery of ancient Mayan cities, long lost to time, underscores the remarkable advancements in archaeology. Using satellite technology and AI algorithms, researchers are now able to uncover buried sites and map historical landscapes with unprecedented accuracy. How can these cutting-edge tools further enhance our ability to locate and understand other lost cities and historical sites, and what might they reveal about civilizations previously hidden from view?

My personal analysis is that Red Turkey (Pavo Rojo) was the ancient Maya name for a Rooster (there was no roosters in Guatemala before columbus) and Spanish for rooster is GALLO, LA MEJOR CERVEZA (which made La CORONA famous by association 😅) Today's Guatemalan Mayans cannot watch their favorite Ball Player score without celebrating with a GALLO.

I am not a fan of using Literal English Translations for Names among Peoples Native to the Americas.
English names have Literal meanings too (ever read a baby book?) but it would be Silly to call people by Those Terms!
These names have Native Pronunciations- in Their Own Languages! We should be using Those!

    • @jclark2752

It just seems to infantilize the culture in a way I do not like - and I question whether or not a Native Speaker would Actually Think of their companions and neighbors as the cartoonish images such terms tend to generate.

This documentary is obsolete and very old, besides, this British man does not know what he is talking about. There are new discoveries, studies and evidences that he ignores. It is recently discovered and very well known that Tikal was Conquered and Colonized by another Culture in 358 A.D., by another Civilisation, named the Teotihuacans, which it includes the Pyramid and a lost city just aside of Tikal built by the Teotihuacanos.
