Claus, you should look into buying a mining claim. Not only can you experience the excitement of panning for gold, but you can enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing. If your claim is near or adjacent to federally owned land, you could have thousands of acres for exploration.
Winding thru the mountains in Alaska would be very cool! I took a train ride up the mountian in Jamaica to the Rum Factory! They gave you free rum drinks and stopped at a village for the locals to sell us stuff. (junk) But the track and Train you were on appear to be much safer. So scary in Alaska NOT even close. Hell I thought the train in Jamaica would roll backwards down the mountain or jump off the track at any time. (thats why free drinks) Good one Claus!
I did this train ride a couple of years ago. It was in July. Was in Dawson City for Canada Day and in Skagway for July 4th. What a fun trip. The hotels didn’t have A/C and the temps were in the 80s (dangerous heatwave for Alaskans). The highlight for our trip was Mt Denali. There is a train from Anchorage to Fairbanks that goes right by Denali National Park. That train is very scenic with a glass roof/double decker. 10/10 would go back to Denali again.
Rode that train 2 years ago its very impressive and you get a full history lesson on the way up if you are into all thing mechanical i recommend it. We had a great time😀
I've just got off a train on the North Kent Coast in England, Sea level most of the way the highest point was probably stepping off the train onto the platform. Epic train journey Claus, like you it'd probably be a one time only experience for me too.
Wow nice video Claus! our friends just came back from that voyage, and they want Us to go next time they showed us that exact ride. I am a train guy and said hell yes. and besides its north America. what a great continent to live on.
I'm the oposite from the old fat with a cap on, but really do like trains. I've heart about this ride. First the whole west coast of the USA (Redwoods forests, cascades etc) and then I'll maybe do this also. Looks quite fun to do. I like a bit of action like that.
think i like them neverbeing on one guess reminds me of the peacefullness i felt at times on navy destroyer when at sea,covering distance little at a time
Claus, think about this. If you were impressed, concerned, "nuts tingling" at times, scared, etc while you rode comfortably along the rails, just imagine the crew that built that railway out of nothing alongside that mountain.
No baseball cap, still got hair and stomach not too big!. Like train journeys and that one looks epic.. Did you not think a boulder could have come loose above you fall and knock you off the platform!
The White Pass and Yukon. Built for the gold rush that occurred there. Narrow guage railroads go where standard guage can't go. And I feel attacked with the hat and belly comment. Just cuz I watched it all the way thru...

Took this ride to Carcross at the end of September. Such a beautiful ride. I really loved the smell of pine in the air.

My Wife went on an Alaska Cruise in July and went on that train. Had a blast and brought me back a a hat.

Just don’t look down. It is breathtaking. Try some old mining offroad trails in Colorado - same type views and more.
Claus look up how train wheels work and you will understand why there is always a side to side motion regardless of rail gauge.
