Yes, thank spotify for the suggestion, then thank the band for this this beauty , and then I thank you for relating with us Xi.Anais.. 2021 this time though
I am absolutely floored by this recording. My kid had this in the car playing as I sat and waited for their return on a Saturday afternoon outing. Initially, the progressive song structure and unexpected instrumentation held me, but when I heard Dave Vives sing, I thought, Jeff Buckley has come back to life! I listened to this 20 times tonight and as I moved past the exceptional musicianship and song structure, I began to pick up the lyrics with each listening. I heard not only Jeff's voice in Dave's voice, but Jeff's final words before his untimely death - "eyes swimming deep in grey water, if I sit and wait I'm sure they'll come find me, come find me" "drowning the ghost by swimming static, my tainted breath in fire lungs, I swear that I don't feel anything but safe" "I am in control, I am obedient". I am humbled, moved to tears by this most beautiful tribute to one of our contemporary musician geniuses that is Jeff Buckley. Thank you gentlemen for this exceptional composition and recording. Rest in peace, Jeff - thank you for all you gave us.
Vives is the driving force behind why I got so suddenly & so deeply into this band. His vocals are fucking unreal. He's perfected the tortured scream, between here, Please Explain, and the ending of Well Done. It always brings me to tears. My Spotify liked songs has a very long stream of just his work with CJ.
JP I've been following you since you won the Guitar Center Drum off, through the Dave Mackay Group, the Common Thread Tour, and now with Childish Japes......Just want to say your touch and creativity on the kit is mind blowing!! Thanks for sharing your craft with the world. Later dude
Such a unique sound. I feel like this song could've been produced to hell and back, so much room, but the fact that this was all live and still has the vibes so full is something else.
Yaaaaaas! Finally! Still remember when you put a short clip of this song on Instagram before the album came out, and I was like “oh god! That sounds incredible!”
amazing what you guys do while being a power trio, one of best vocals lines I've heard too, the verses are incredibly sensible and still so gentle even when on high pitch
Why should I deny this old dog of mine Always by my side Tell me is it safe to come down from this high? Eyes swimming deep in grey water If I sit and wait, I’m sure they’ll come find me The flood is seeping through the seams I ascend to the attic Drowning the ghost by swimming in static My tainted breath in fire lungs I swear that I don’t feel anything but safe So run your fingers over these hands And tell me a story, I’ll smile if you come close And if you try I’ll listen closely But your voice it just can’t reach me anymore Eyes swimming deep in grey water If i sit and wait I’m sure they’ll come find me The fool is the life for me I'll be alright The echo I wanna hear Always listening I am in control I am obedient I am in control I am obedient
Bill Mint - It’s a Fender I got in High School called an Fmt HH but I put a 7 string set on it to make it into a Baritone :) it’s not a high end model really and its nothing like a normal tele but I like it a lot still.
@@bakerasher I really miss JP wearing his american flag skinny jeans, tanktop and a baseball cap with a cutout for his mohawk. Can you ask him to bring this style back?
I love the band.......except the vocals. The way he sings give me too much tension while I'm surfing along the rhythmical and melodic structure of the instruments...... and JP : I LOVE the way you play along the rhythm, without showing chops and fills, just groove variations, I appreciate ......!!
I've never heard anything like this before and I'm in love with the sound. Spotify's discover weekly did right by me for sure
Xi.Anais circa survives first 3 albums
Spotify discover weekly hooking it up for ya boys!
i’m here for the same reason 😂 discover weekly
Aye me too! good stuff

This is one of the best vocal performances I've ever seen. Vives is a beast, has a very Kurt Travis style to him.
"I am in control, I am obedient " something about this part gets me
Everything (including Dave's vocals) are great. This band rocks. Chills!
I legit listened to this song about 20+ times today, it's just SO DAMN GOOD UGH

Awesome song, I listen to it every morning
superb performance! love it!

4:27 no way I just watched that man pull this shit off in real-time! insano
This mans voice and that low end on the guitar gave me goosebumps.
Whatever you guys are doing please keep doing it.
I cannot get enough of you guys; thank you for everything you do and please never stop making music.
What a singer. Monstrous control. This is what reign of kindo could have been 😉
I'm here because I listened to it in my random shuffle on spotify and thought his voice is identical as Taka's from one ok rock haha I love it
Yaaaaaas! Finally! Still remember when you put a short clip of this song on Instagram before the album came out, and I was like “oh god! That sounds incredible!”
Wow Dave!

O único defeito dessa música é acabar
Amazing
Why should I deny this old dog of mine
Always by my side
Tell me is it safe to come down from this high?
Eyes swimming deep in grey water
If I sit and wait, I’m sure they’ll come find me
The flood is seeping through the seams

Drowning the ghost by swimming in static
My tainted breath in fire lungs
I swear that I don’t feel anything but safe
So run your fingers over these hands
And tell me a story, I’ll smile if you come close
And if you try I’ll listen closely
But your voice it just can’t reach me anymore
Eyes swimming deep in grey water
If i sit and wait I’m sure they’ll come find me
The fool is the life for me
I'll be alright
The echo I wanna hear
Always listening
I am in control
I am obedient
I am in control
I am obedient
that was fantastic!!!!
Childish Japes pls pls pls come to Seattle.
Dave you rock man
Bass drum so good it should be sampled
what the fuck this is amazing
SM7B on the snare? Interesting choice. Sounds great, man!
This is really good
Joder pero que buena canción!!
Niceeeeee!!!!!
❤️❤️💯🤘🏻
were you in the same year with matt gartska in berklee
Siete fantastici!!!
What kind of telecaster is that oh my god

okay i was gonna learn the guitar by ear but like it's WAY drop tuned i didn't expect that lol
did you ever figure it out
He's using a baritone guitar tuned to B standard.
hahjahaha came for the same thing, just as shocked
All Berklee dudes?
AMAZING but could've been mixed better, bit too woofy in the low end
need tabs
What's with this band and button down shirts? Is it just coincidence that everyone likes them?
They look nice :D
@@TheGrundigg That's true
We’re all just a bunch of hipsters at the end of the day. Lol. I’m just glad JP and I weren’t matching that day
@@bakerasher I really miss JP wearing his american flag skinny jeans, tanktop and a baseball cap with a cutout for his mohawk. Can you ask him to bring this style back?
Serious Jeff Buckley vibes here
Voice is maybe the best part. kids wanting to hear chops all along are missing the point.

Aw he is one of my favorite things about the band
The vocalist isn't letting the song breathe. It sounds like his part was just pasted on top with no planning
The guitarist and bassist look dead inside. Such a bore to watch
Probably just focusing, it's a damn song get over it
@@amildlydisappointingsalad6058 you mad?
Vocals don't fit at all.
