that poor japanese news anchor completely losing his shit the microsecond it turns from earthquake alert to tsunami warning...
M Lab true
I think anyone would shit themselves and breakdown if that happened
They really don’t want history to repeat itself
GearAlpha I remember a clip of a tsunami warning in Japan and an anchor said something on the lines of “REMEMBER THE GREAT TSUNAMI/EARTHQUAKE OF 2011!”
Like you said, they don’t want a repeat of 2011.
Edit: The clip in the video was the one I was referring to. The anchor says “REMEMBER THE GREAT EARTHQUAKE OF 2011!” because of how bad it was. They also, before the Tsunami warning was issued, showed a camera showing the Fukushima-Daichi Nuclear Power Plant, which after the Earthquake & Tsunami in 2011, had a meltdown.
yeah, but imagine how much the japanese people have been through already. shit like this happens to them all the time. they even get north korean missiles flying overhead.
Honestly for me nothing beats the alarm for the missing children in France. This thing litteraly starts with a screamer and then a creepy ticking clock music starts and a deep voice repeats "A child has been kidnapped.".
I live in Switzerland and we usually also watch the French channels and I remember discovering it because it wildly popped during a cartoon when I was a kid and it shitlessy scared me.
Wtf
Why they gotta make it so fucked up tho
@@RexyFromJurassicPark Someone once told me seeing it is so stressing it will be easier to remember the face of the child or even suddently remember a clue that could help the police
@@piou77piou ok, but if i ever saw that on tv, i'd be pissing all over the floor and literally have insomnia for a week because, holy shit, that's scarier than any horror movie to ever exist
I don't even want to know the thought process of the people who made that
@@piou77piou if I saw that, I would be *traumatized* for LIFE. I would be crying, shitting my pants, and getting fucking nightmares.
My heart goes out to that Japanese reporter. He was warning about there possibly being a tsunami and the way he started to panic when it was confirmed, the fear in his voice when he said "Protect your Life!" and the way it cut off with the silence with nothing but that god awful sound after gave me chills. Luckily the tsunami was not that bad and nobody died. (Only was about 4 feet) But i hope the people who got hurt in the earthquake are recovering well.
The way he brought up what happened in 2011 as well, and "Ima sugu nigete kudasai!" actually meaning "Please run away right now!"--it really shows how deeply traumatized many people are because of the Tohoku triple disaster, and it's also really sweet in a sad way to hear him caring so much about all these viewers he's never even met.

I Did This Too...why....
i personally love alerts, they inform me about the world, and i think about what i would do in that emergency. im not saying it's fun, but i'll enjoy the video. *ESPECIALLY* when it's an old clip 🤪
its amazing how in Japan they have the magnitude information for the tremors and tsunami warnings within minutes of the beginning of the quake
They have to. They live in between tectonic plates. It's a frequent occurrence, you never know which one proves to be a historical catastrophe.
It’s literally in seconds. When the primary wave is detected, the alerts come on. At this point, most of us will not feel the quake, so it almost seems as if it is predicted. Once the secondary wave is measured, intensity is reported for major cities and geographical locations. It only takes about ten seconds tops until this point. It takes a few more minutes until it is determined whether there is danger of tsunamis.

2 things
1: the japan alarm gave me chills because he went from telling everyone to stay calm to shouting at everyone to leave so quickly and of all things REMINDING people of a horrible event in the country's past
2: I used to go to school in Prauge and it was like 200 feet from the air-raid-siren tower. every week they would test it and it scared the living crap out of me
(I was 6 at the time)
they would also test the broadcast system but only while I was at school, so one day I was sick at home and started crying when I heard it.
This change in tone of the alert is something that Japan introduced in the wake of the 2011 earthquake disaster. News anchors used to report very calmly and politely until that point in order to not create panic. However, it was later suggested that this way of communication did not properly convey the urgency of the matter, allowing people to get complacent and not being able to evacuate in a timely manner. Hence, more strong and direct style of announcing these alerts was introduced.
Old comment but in Prague and basically all of Czech Republic the air raid sirens are located everywhere so there isnt really a place you can go to not hear them other then inside a building that isnt quiet

Edit: When the Singapore alarm started, it sounded like it was being bounced between each ear of my headphones, and I swear I actually began moving my head to the tune. Jesus Christ.
Me too
The Japan one is what genuinely unsettled me. It started off as small warning thing, but very quickly escalated into something MUCH bigger. It’s just the panic the guy had shown when he said “Everyone, remember the Great East Japan Earthquake!” Shortly after, “Evacuate immediately!” with the signal being cut out at the end. It sends a chill down my spine.
It gets even more sad when you know the actual meaning of "Ima sugu nigete kudasai"--the subs said "Evacuate immediately", but what he said actually translates to "Please run away right now". He's gone from keeping calm and giving formal instructions to just begging everyone to run for their lives and reminding them of one of the worst natural disasters in the country's history.
Japan's narrator during earthquake: cool, cool
Japan's narrator during tsunami: AAAAAAAAAAAAA
They were probably having flashbacks from the huge tsunami for them it was only 4 years ago.

Absolutely liked how the narrator calmly talks about "theres a possibility a tsunami warning will be out" when there's only an earthquake warning and raised his tone to straight up "THE TSUNAMI WARNING IS OUT!!!! EVERYONE PLS RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!! PLS REMEMBER THE GREAT EAST JAPAN TSUNAMI!!!!! PLS RUN FOR --" then into rapid urgent morse code
that's how u catch people's attention properly

The New Zealand one is so simple but I love it. Its so straight to the point and that is just amazing
what's extra scary about the japan example isn't that the alarm is relatively tame compared to others around the world, but how this particular earthquake was the one that created the tsunami that destroyed the fukushima nuclear power plant and caused that entire area of japan to still be somewhat inhabitable (to my knowledge)
No, that was the Great Japan Earthquake of 2011. The clip was recorded in 2016.
Japan: "We should use calming tones to not stress people out in an emergency!'
America: "haha alert go BEEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEP boooooooooooop"
Australia: haha alert go “WEEWEEEWEEEWEEEWEEE”
Canada: Haha alert go AAAAEEEEEAAAEEEAAAEEEEAAAAAEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAEEEEE
The initial tones sound crazy for a reason. The US system is super low-tech and therefore super robust, so it needs to be able to work with a minimum of data transmission. Those initial three tones carry the "wake-up" signal, the alert type, and location information. They also self perpetuate, which means that if a system misses an initial alert but "hears" those tones from somewhere else it will trigger the full EAS alert.
You have to remember, this system does everything from tornado warnings to nuclear attack in the US, so it needs to operate with a minimum of equipment and overhead. Compare that to the Japanese system, which all it does is its one job of earthquake alarm and so can be programmed into pretty much every consumer electronic. They don't have to worry about carrying the location, alert, and type information - it has one job.
I'm done with these sirens 💀💀

"Protect your life!" the fear and the panic of that japanese news reporter, imagine the reaction of the warning areas reacting to the news bulletin and hearing that.
Bro, i have luckily never experienced these situations, and i think my country doesn't even have an eas alarm. But i know it is traumatic to people, and just watching this video gave me goosebumps. But like, the reporters on live that had to report the news while having to run away for their own lives. It must be even more traumatizing. You could hear the terror in their eyes and voice. I hope all the reporters in this video got ok after the emergency
What country are you from?
Everyone else: **terrifying sounds**
Japan: *AND OUR LUCKY WINNER IS..*
Japan
i also liked it
Have you listen to bizarrebub’s fight or fright video?
I thought at first he was watching a game show that was going to be interrupted by the warning. Let’s just say I was surprised
@bill zounis why wouldn't they want that to happen?
@@David_Box because it would probably do more harm than good
American here the worst is how it freezes your TV and your like wtf then it kicks on
ICUPostJoker that’s because the government is essentially hijacking the TV signals so it takes a sec to get through
and the monthy EAS test 😣
@@azureslane I get frightened every time it happens 💀

When the AlertReady tone plays for whatever reason, my flight or flight response instantaneously activates.

Thats old that alarm was in 1990
@@Joebidenstole4trillion ight, low quality makes sense then. But still...

When I was little I would sometimes fall asleep downstairs and when the first alarm played I would crawl up into a ball, cover my ears and cry. My dad often left the tv on, and with the volume up, so it’s volume scared the shit out of me.
As a Canadian, I can confirm that our EAS alarm scares the shit out of us at all times it comes on
It penetrates like no other alarm. Some countries' alarms sound like a ringtone, or a wake up alarm. Canada's jolts you out of whatever you're doing: "Incoming hypervelocity nuclear missile attack! Seek cover in the next 30 seconds! Goodbye!"
Same.
Why the heck is America’s so disruptive, sudden, hard to understand and straight up nightmare-ish
To trigger the fight or flight response on people I suppose
Right? Gives most of us anxiety 🥺
Idk but it’s sounds different on this video , when it plays on my tv I can actually hear the voice well .
It’s more terrifying and traumatizing when you’re a child have no idea what’s going on and start to freak out... they need to change the alarm sound

@@afullmx NO THANK YOU-
FUCK. NOOOOOOOOOOOO.
the scariest part other than the alarm itself is the fact that the eas breaks up sometimes and plays a second of normal tv
