    Collecting vintage cameras are fun similar to owning antique cars. I’m having Canon and Nikon photographic gears in my collection now, but hoping for Leica and Rolleiflex cameras in the future when I’ve more budgets.

    Did you manage to buy any name brand film, if any, sold only for domestic market? Used to be quite a lot of film available iirc at Yodobashi chain store back in 2016 when last visited. From your vid, looks very reassuring used camera market is still very vibrant there!

    • @NoctiGirl
      @NoctiGirl  4 місяці тому

      Yes! The used camera market is definitely still booming! Though I can’t say the same about film. I used to buy a lot of film whenever I travel to Japan. They were cheaper than the U.S., also had a wider selection and variety. Not the same anymore. They had a severe film shortage and most stores were limiting purchases to 1 roll per customer 🥲 before going there, my friend in Japan even told me to bring my own film if I planned on shooting any… 🥹

      To be honest, Japan is not a country that's big on discounts. But they really take care of their products and their customer service is superb. I wouldn't count on getting "good deals" in Japan, but they have special edition cameras there that you won't find here in the U.S. I'd approach a trip to Japan with that mindset. Everyone is super courteous there BUT most people don't speak English so communication might be an issue if you try to ask about details on cameras...
      Also, they just have so many random accessories and trinkets there that it's just fun to visit and look around!

    I scooped up a Canon A-1 from Kitamura's junk pile for about 20 bucks. It didn't work at the time but I got it to work after getting it home.

      @@NoctiGirl The whole building is part store, part museum, mostly both at the same time. I didn't know about the junk pile until I got there. When buying from that pile, they actually made me sign a waiver stating that I knew full well that the items were being sold as junk, they were not guaranteed to work, and there was no warranty or return.

      Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that detail. I totally didn't know that! The Japanese are definitely very detailed and meticulous!
