Thanks for tuning in! Yes! I usually use the rangefinder but I’m learning to use the LCD screen with focus peaking. I’ve been told the EVF works wonders but I haven’t really tried it. I’ve been shooting in extreme low light situations quite often so I’m training myself to use the LCD 😉
You have taken some incredible photos! You’re absolutely right about the dreamy bokeh that the Nocti produces. One question I have for you is: do you always use the rangefinder to focus OR are there times that you resort to using EVF for focusing at 0.95? Thank you for sharing this video
Thanks for tuning in! I've always used the rangefinder and I'm learning to rely on the LCD more with the focus-peaking function turned on. That's extremely helpful in lowlight situations. I haven't really tried the EVF yet but I think I will pick one up. A lot of photographers I know own one and swear by it. Thanks again for your support 😊💖
When you adapt it to a mirrorless camera such as the Leica SL, you can use a macro adapter to reduce minimum focusing distance without introducing more glass elements
I just bought the 50mm Noctilux and need to know which B&W closeup lens to get so that I can decrease the minimum focusing distance. The lens has a 60mm filter thread but that option is not available for closeup lens!
Oops I just realized the link to the closeup lenses doesn’t show in the video when viewed on non-mobile devices, weird 🤔 But here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/Kgchu9mVZbw/v-deo.htmlsi=qH6peJmXOHt8ZvTj Mine are from B+W and they come in 4 strengths. You can get so close to your subjects that the lens hood is practically touching the subject lol
That's a great video. Thank you. I have the 50mm Noctilux f/0.95, too. I also have the EVF for my M10-R, the "round" EVF. If I'm trying to shoot something that's moving - while shooting "wide open" - I focus through my EVF while taking a series of shots...click, click, click, click. Usually one of those clicks will produce a great shot that's in sharp focus. I'm amazed that you don't use an EVF.
Hahaha I guess I’m used to shooting rangefinders! But I am not fast when I shoot my Nocti because I need all my concentration to make sure I hit focus. I have to be honest tho, as I age my eyesight is getting worse 🥹 I might invest in an EVF to make it easier on my poor eyes 🥲
Great vid, well constructed, well presented, knowledgeable. I am not buying Leica glass but much of what you shared transfers to other lenses. Thanks. You've got it together.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad that you were able to see past the "Leica" part. I've gotten people calling me a one-trick-pony or "must be nice to be rich" lol. I think we can all share our love and passion without hating or judging. Thank you for your encouraging comment. I really appreciate it 😊
Hi Noctigirl. I really enjoy watching your video's and find them informative. I own a 0.95 Noctilux in silver finish, the same as yours. I also own a 1.2 50mm Noctilux which is always with me. I find the 0.95 difficult to focus and I really don't like resorting to using the Visoflex. I guess I am kind of a purist at heart. Anyway I am looking forward to your video on focusing the 0.95. When do you think it will come out?
Thanks for tuning in and I’m really happy to hear that my videos are informative for you! Interesting that you find the 0.95 more difficult to focus than the 1.2. Do you have the original or the remake? I personally find the 1.2 too soft for my liking 🥹 The focusing video isn’t in production yet, so I’d say at least another 2 - 3 months. Stay tuned!! 😊
I have the f/1.0 v2 and use it on the Leica M8. At f/1.0 the way the background disappears has to be seen. And your tip about having B/W files To solve problems is forgotten by most. You had a good teacher in your photo school. Any you have a great channel 😊
On another note, would you be interested in some collaboration between our respective UA-cam Channels. I interview photographers from time to time on my channel and I would love to interview you. Your photography journey etc . Welcome your thoughts. Cheers Peter
One should only be happy for you 👏🏼 and your passion. Obviously you speak to an audience with unlimited resources so to speak. I'm an old M4 guy and have enjoyed my 90 f2.8 elmarit for that Leica look. Also my Tamron 15-30 f2.8 & 70-200 have served me well but I'm still a leica lover, M10-P is my dream. Question for you, how do you get around shooting architecture wide open 🤔. I plan on renting the Nocti one day based on your presentation. Continued success!
Thanks for tuning in! I actually switched over to Leica from Canon. I worked 2 jobs for 10 years to finally buy my dream lens 🙂 To be honest, I don’t shoot architecture with my Nocti often since it’s a 50mm. But I think if you are far away enough from let’s say an entire building the shallow depth of field wouldn’t matter as much. I did really enjoy shooting architecture with my Canon 14mm f/2.8 when I had it tho!
Hey Nocti girl ... want to let you know I am also a BIG fan of the Noct. I like is so much that I have 2 of these 0.95 Nocts. I even have one signed by Peter Karbe when he came by to Singapore and we had lunch together !! My first Noct from 2009 has been welded to M9, M10, M10-R and M-11. I always keep the other Noct as a spare unit. The Noct is not heavy ... not when it is compared to a Nikon / Canon system. Great video and great effort !
Here’s a question: if you had to choose between the Noctilux 50mm 0.95 and the Noctilux 75mm 1.25, although they are very different lenses which one would you choose if you could only have one?
I had chosen the 50 because I’m not a tele shooter. I generally shoot 50mm or wider. Also, the 75 though renders amazingly, is very big and heavy. I wouldn’t take that out as often as I do the 50mm.
My Nocitlux f1 is one of my favorite lenses. I enjoy the character of the lens. I love to see your pictures with the M6. I plan to use the Noctilux more with film. Looking forward to it :-)
The Noctilux f/1.0 is a whole different lens. I have it and the f/1.2 re-issue, and am looking forward to getting the f/0.95. I have the Noctilux 75 mm f/1.25 and it’s terrific.
Oh wow you pretty much have it all then! So many people have told me how much they love the 75 and while I also love how it renders, it’s just so big and heavy 😅
Thanks for sharing your legendary lens with us. Most of my fast lenses have an f/1.4 maximum aperture. The fastest lens I own and use has an f/1.2 maximum aperture.
Thanks for tuning in! Yes, you are correct. A lot of fast lenses have maximum aperture at f/1.2. But what’s so special about the original Noctilux is that it contained 2 aspherical elements in the lens. Also, they weren’t just aspherical, they were hand polished. Can you imagine hand polishing aspherical lens elements and make 1,700 copies of this lens in the 60’s?! I think Leica was one of the first to do so 🤯
@@NoctiGirl The noct is all, but not perfect. No social insecurities here, i am shooting for 4 decades. Thing is, all these extremely shallow DoF pictures, which floated the web many years ago, are quite often very boring, from a composition PoV. And for architecture, landscapes, etc. one does stop down, always. You'll never shoot these kind of things with F0.95, F1.2, F1.4 or whatever, before F8-F13 at least, usually.
The Nocti is not perfect for everyone, but it's perfect for me. I didn't buy the lens so I could shoot at f/8 or f/16... thank you for tuning in anyway 🙂
Awesome video Charlice! I didn’t have any idea the lens was so heavy and as well of the difficulties with it! You definitely have mastered it! Great work!
Have you tried the rare m- mount SLR Magic Hyperprime 50mm f0.92? That has similar crazy shalow depth of field but with its own kind of magic 👌Great video by the way!
A lot of modern digital cameras and lenses look sharp...but Leica equipment are the only ones I can really think of using that retain a high quality look to the photos, but still has a natural, filmic type of look to the results. They don't look overly sharpened or super clinical. They just look completely natural. Thanks for sharing your video with us!
I totally agree!! There’s something special about those Leica sensors… they just render so naturally and beautifully. The “Leica-look” is real. Thanks for tuning in! 😊
The Zeiss Planar 50mm 1.4 is pretty great at providing that unique quality as well. I have one on my Canon 5d and it is wonderful. I can’t afford a Leica and a Nocti at the moment. The Zeiss is wonderful.
I LOOOOOOOOOVE the planar!! My Rolleiflex 2.8E has a planar lens on there (80mm) and my Hasselblad 500cm has the same lens. I absolutely love the rendering 😍💖
I so love this video. You are genuine, you speak from the heart and I like your little humour. Your photos are also super. By the way.....as of today you've got a new subscriber: ME! 😊
Thank you so much!! You don't have to know about the Noctilux. I just wanted to share my passion with you. I'm glad that it came through in the video. Thank you for tuning in 😊
If you use an EVF, focusing is made easy with the shallow DOF of the noctilux, you see exactly what's blurred and what's not, whatever is not is where your focus plane is. With rangefinder focusing, you really dont see through the lens, so it all depends how well you are able to see that patch and superimpose the 2 images within the finder. Sometimes its hard and an EVF can be helpful. Other times its just fun and intuition helps. Its what snipers, race drivers, archers use to hit the 'bulls eye'.
To be honest, when I first started shooting rangefinders, the EVF wasn't available yet lol, so I was trained to shoot "normally". When the EVF became available, I struggled a while to get used to it because it was a bit distracting for me to see all these other things on there. Also your view seems magnified through the EVF. I think I'm better at it now, and once I got used to it, it was easier to focus than just relying on the rangefinder 😊
@@NoctiGirl yeah dont get me wrong, I love using a rangefinder to focus, my first camera was my uncles old minolta 7 camera that was a rangerfinder. it was very satisfying to nail focus and see the results on the developed film images. Later I moved onto SLRs, DSLRs and fell in love with manual focus lenses that refined to primes, wide aperture primes. from there the canon 50mm 0.95 lens. My first leica buy was the noctilux 25y vienna edition lens. I love 50mm focal length and fast lenses. With a RF, you can see what comes into frame, with EVF you dont see this, but can zoom in as needed to nail focus, most of the time this takes away precious time, creates a bit of anxiety. With RF focusing, its take it or leave it moment, i like that. quick and fast, and knowing Leica, their glass is just so sharp, when you nail it, you nail it, very satisfying feeling.
@@NoctiGirl hope you enjoy it, I am lucky enough to shoot Large format (65/90mm f 5.6) and MF (f2.8/3.5) and both perform similar to these wide open, bokehlicious monsters, just watch focus, and you will definitely have some negatives to be proud of, PS, if you have a community Darkroom near where you are, get the lab to do some neg develop only, then do the prints on Ilford MGRC satin or glossy paper yourself, I have just experienced this, with 6x4.5 negs (Acros 100 B&W) and its just magical, you will want to put the final prints on a wall, I guarantee it.
Thanks for the tip!! I had a chance to try it last weekend and to my surprise, it was as heavy and bulky as I remembered 🤔 I shot two rolls with my M6 and now am waiting for the results. Nervous and excited 😆
Loved your Noct homage. I had a .95 Noct for about 7 years. Sold it because I could not focus accurately. Learned later this was because of a cataract that was clouding my vision. Shortly after the warranty was up I was shooting with my M9 and Noct and fell down a volcano. The lens barrel and shade were dented (no damage to the M9…I was dented as well). I sent the lens into Leica for repair. Despite being out of warranty Leica Germany repaired the lens for no charge. No lens had ever been sent in for repair due to falling down a volcano. They like firsts. Have fun. Stay safe. Watch out for volcanos.
Hahaha omg this is an awesome story!! 😂 I've never heard of anyone's lens falling down a volcano, especially one of the most expensive lenses 🙈 I hope *knock on wood* that I'll never need to send my Nocti in for repair 🥹 Thanks for tuning in! Stay away from volcanos!! 🌋
@@NoctiGirl If you decide in the future you'd like to try some different lenses I can recommend the 21 Summilux… this is an amazing lens for landscape work (we visited Stonehenge last year and the shots I took were an order of magnitude better than I imagined being able to take before the visit).. Currently I am using the 35 APO and 50 APO Summicrons. The detail shot wide open is stunning. Have fun with your photo adventures 😎 I'll tune in to more of your vids.
I've definitely been eyeing that 21 lux!! When I was shooting my Canon system one of my favorite lenses was that 14mm f/2.8. It was SO WIDE but I loved it for architectural shots, especially when traveling! My only hesitation with that 21 lux is the need for an external viewfinder. Won't be an issue if I use it with my M10P, but with my M6 or MP, it would be an annoyance... I'll definitely give it some serious consideration! Thanks for tuning in. More vids to come! 😊
@@NoctiGirl I bought the latest EVF for the M11 with the intent to use this when using my 21 'Lux. Thus far I have not used the EVF and have not felt the need. Frame as usual. If you are not happy with the shot, shoot again moving the camera a little bit in the direction you what to capture. Worst case merge a couple of shots to get the scene you want. I'd rather do this than use that square blob on the camera which sucks the life out of the battery. A waste of $740.
@@NoctiGirl i just got back from the city!! Rob was the 2nd person i ran into! I told him you said hello! he was happy!! I went there to play with the M11's.. They were they lovely! He was only too happy to listen to me drone on about what i currently shoot and where i want to go! I finished off my visit with the young lady rep there who was also full of knowledge. There were people there who were spending money so i had to let them get back to work.
Nice! Sounds like you had a fun day at the store!! I love Rob's vision for the store and what him & his team set out to accomplish. Sometimes when I visit a store I don't necessarily want to buy something. I might just happen to be in the area and being a Leica fan I just want to check out the store and talk to the people, see what they have etc. Some store people are very stuck up and unfriendly. However, Rob & his team are looking to build a community. They are always happy to chat with people and create this super friendly environment for photo enthusiasts. I think this is how every store should be 😄😍😊
@@NoctiGirl Stuck up and unfriendly? in a leica shop? you must be Joking!! Never!!! Rob and his crew were waaay chill!! I'm like you also.. love walking into a leica shop and asking questions and not necessarily make a purchase. I loved that Baseball Cap in the shop.. but $100 was a bit silly.
Hahaha glad to know that you had a good experience! Baseball cap? Is it the one with the embossed logo on the brim?! I got it the last time I was there. Not $100, just $50 😆
Nice video. I am glad that you can afford that $14,000 lens. Come to think about it, look at those cameras on the table. Titanium and Safari with a titanium lens. Just Sick!!!!
I am a photographer based in Florence. I really enjoyed your review; you’re so charming! The lens you have is like a future Lamborghini to me. If you ever get the chance to divorce your husband, please throw it my way! Haha😂
Hahahaah thank you so much for tuning in!! Florence is such a beautiful city, I envy you 🥹 I was in Rome last year, also a very charming city full of culture and history 🥰 Oh man, it will take a lot for me to divorce my husband. We've never had an argument. He always listens to what I say. I am having some naughty thoughts to get a boyfriend though... like a wide-angle one 😜
Very interesting and useful, of course. The ND filter advice is very important and especially if using a film M camera. My favourite film is Ilford XP2, so an ND filter is essential. It is a heavy lens, too, but it's a worthwhile sacrifice, like wearing a hair vest and walking barefoot over hot coals, but it's worth it. And it gives (me) a manly right wrist. 💪
Thanks for tuning in as usual 😊 Hahaha I gotta admit, my back pain from carrying that lens and my Ms is getting more severe as I age 😆 I might need a camera caddy soon 🥹 also, I now wear a belt bag when I shoot that lens so I can loop my filter pouch through it so I can easily access my filters. I look like a construction hobbit 😝
@NoctiGirl You are welcome, as always. And while you refer to yourself as a woman (biologically correct), I would refer to you as a lady; and as an Asian lady, you are blessed with youthful looks, which will typically last until you are about 90. As for lens weight, it is back-breaking, but the results really are unique and are instantly recognisable. And only 0.95 is really good enough. Other versions, however nice, aren't quite the same.
I really agree! I feel like other versions of Nocti are softer in focus, though I do love the bokeh from the f/1. I hope my youthful looks will last me till I’m 90! Then I’ll probably suddenly look 160 😆🥹💀
@NoctiGirl Forever young ! It's the mindset too. Always be positive. Always look forward. Anyway, I have just ordered a 4 Stop ND filter so I will 'play' with my 0.95 on an M6 with XP2.
Hahaha nice!! I've been putting off getting a good polarizing filter for the hubby. I'd like to start experimenting shooting through glass/windows/reflective surfaces with him. Have you tried it?
If you're looking for a subject for a NEW UA-cam video, I personally would like to know more about filters, e.g. what filter should I use to emphasize clouds, etc. Regarding shooting your Noctilux on a (fairly) sunny day, setting your ISO to 100 and shutter speed to 1/4000 sec. will often do better than you'd expect, e.g. if your actual (human) subject is sitting under, say, an umbrella. NDS filters are awkward if you're moving from shade to sun, shade to sun.
Usually I would use a polarizing filter to dramatize the clouds! But this is for color photography. B&W is a different beast 😛 I’d use an orange filter for B&W but you should try to experiment and see what suits your style better! But I get you, you are interested in an episode on using different filters? Let me think about this! Sometimes setting my ISO at 100 and 1/4000 sec still aren’t enough for me to shoot at f/0.95… maybe f/2, that’s why ND filters are needed 🥹 but you are right, it could be a bit awkward carrying filters with you while shooting, that’s why I started wearing a belt bag where I could loop my filter pouch through and sometimes a light meter so I can go “hands free” 😉
That makes sense! I do shoot quite a bit of film so I’m slightly concerned about using it on my M6 or MP. But I guess if I use the lens enough I wouldn’t need an external viewfinder 🤔
Omg!! Are you one of them very rare viewers who actually saw my wedding video?! 😆😳 We are still very happily married, but we could use a ménage a trois to spice up our lives a bit 😜
My dream camera is the Leica M11 P maybe in the next life I will have one,for now I am happy with my Fujifilm XPro 3 with a 28mm 5.6 tt arttisan lens m-mount 😊
Hahaha no I didn't! I've had my M10P Safari for a few years now. I wish I had gotten a cool "souvenir" from the NY store 😆 I only had enough money for a Leica cap 🥹
@@NoctiGirl haha yea I had answered my own question after following you on IG and scrolling through 😄. Nice!! I just ordered a cap as well, thought about the umbrella as I live in FL…but maybe doing to much haha. Off subject sort of, do you have any experience with the M43 system and the Leica DG Nocticron 1.2? It’s got some of that Noctilux magic 🪄.
Hahaha trust me it's never too much with these Leica stuff. I have multiple t-shirts, hats, keychains, a hoodie, beanies, notebooks, even a pop socket 😂 I don't have the umbrella though! It doesn't really rain here in SoCal 😆 Oh man... by M43 I'm assuming you meant micro 4/3 right? Unfortunately... I don't have much experience with that. That technology is too new for me 😂😂😂 I went from rangefinder to SLR/medium format to DSLR (woohoo technology!!) then back to rangefinder/medium format 🥹 That lens looks pretty sweet though! Also half the weight of the Noctilux!
Thanks for your comment! I'm also learning how much easier the focus is with an EVF or Visoflex. When I have the budget I am definitely going to invest in one! The Noctilux is pricey... but considering it's been my only lens for 8 years, I guess it's not that crazy. I'm ready for another lens soon though 😊 Thanks for tuning in!
I'm glad you love it, but I'm afraid I still don't get the hype. Any one of the things you mentioned would be a deal-breaker for me. The Summilux gives me enough dreaminess in a vastly smaller and more affordable package.
Hahaha no harm done checking out other brands 😉 I think most Leica stores have that Leica-on-loan program where you could try out gear for a day (for free)! Maybe that'll help to push you over the edge 😂🤭
You know, people chase lenses and one of the ways that people don't get a Nocti is because of the costs so they chase something else. People love the chase. My favourite photographer owns one camera and one lens, and why did he buy that one? "Because it was cheap."...... At no point in his photography did any look in wonder and ask what lens he used, because his shots are all about the time, the place and subject. If Noctigirl has one lens, no matter the cost, she is using her tool instead of just chasing the next thing.. so that's all good IMHO.
Thanks, I appreciate you saying this. I’ve gotten crazy comments from many people, but I think people online are just crazy. When I do a video on many cameras and lenses, people say I must have a sugar daddy etc. when I never said I owned all of those cameras and lenses. When I do a video on the one lens I actually own and have used exclusively for 8 years, I’m called a one trick pony lol. I’ve learned to just be me and do what I like. People’s opinions are just noise. Thanks for tuning in. I appreciate your support.
Thank you so much!! Oh trust me, it's getting tougher for me to focus my M's as I get older... 🥹 I'm seriously contemplating on getting an EVF to help with focusing 🙃
Well if you're going to shoot exclusively with one lens for 8 years might as well be with the king of lenses, btw what kind of M9 is that?, never seen one of those.
Hahaha seems like I’ve converted you to Noctism 😆 welcome to NoctiClub 😍 The closeup lenses are super fun! But takes awhile to learn cuz it’s extremely hard to focus at 0.95 when you are sooooo close to your subjects. All fun tho! 😊
❤ If this lens is to heavy - you are to weak. If you have problems with focus - use a SL with this lens. 👍💪Congratulations for this Beauty. I would take it with me in bed every evening. 😂😂. My wife will tolerate this😂. Greets from germany, Carsten from the dilapidated Villa Petersberg
Consider putting off buying a car until you're older, until you can no longer ride your bicycle. Trade in your 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux on Leica's 75mm f/1.2 Noctilux. Certainly give the 75mm Noctilux a try if you can.
Nah for me it’s a special lens for special days. Still feels awkward to use and contradicts what I love about the M system: size and weight. Plus I’m not a 50mm guy. But it’s a fascinating lens for sure!
Thank you so much!! For sure, Nocti is not for everyone. After carrying him for 8 years I’ve developed a shoulder and back pain. Love really does hurt sometimes 😂 Summilux is awesome!
Yes, I think there's some "crazy" with you. And yes, I think you're not as secure as you absolutely should or could be. And yes I think, your shots are great. And yes, you should consider speaking free instead of using a prompter. And Yes, I assume your energy may be a tad annoying to some people. But most of all: Yes, I'm absolutely intrigued by you. Because you're unlike anyone else. To me you're unique, and that's pretty rare nowadays. Very cool, very cool. P.S: I do hope the "wedding" stopped with the white dress, lol. Thumbs up. Big time.
Hahaha thank you so much!! I really appreciate your encouraging words. To be honest, I'm also finding myself and building my confidence as I continue my UA-cam journey. A lot of nasty bad comments have discouraged me in the past. But, comments like yours remind me why I started doing this in the first place - to share my passion with the world. Forget those who don't like what I do; they're not the ones putting in their time, effort, and energy into making these videos. Ultimately, connecting with likeminded, passionate, genuine people like you is why I'm doing this 😊 P.S. Wait for a Pt.2 where I share how I wrangle our little Noctiluxes running around all over the place out on a field trip 😆 Ok jk. Maybe half jk 😜
I think I need to challenge myself to try shooting my fast lenses wide open more. I rarely use my lenses wide open. I'm often at f2.8 or f4 on my 50mm because I like having more depth of field
And that’s great! We all have our tastes and styles. Always shooting at 0.95 has actually made me a lazy shooter lol cuz I’m always shooting aperture priority and don’t use my head 😅
@@NoctiGirl One thing that I think is kind of interesting is how some lenses give you a completely different look wide open compared to stopped down. Some older lenses have a really big difference. I've never tried the Noct though, but I think it's worth messing with to see what you can get
For sure! That’s why I tried to do a pano with the Nocti. I think I did it at like f/16 or something. But you are right, I should experiment with the lens more. I might be surprised by what I discover 😊
Your photos are very good. One's choice of lens is due to how our mind is wired, my mind is wired very differently to yours, as my favourite lens is the Cannon EF 16-35mm f2.8 MK3, it's the only lens I have and need; I use it with my Cannon Eos 5D MKIV DSLR. I don't expect you to reply to this.
Thanks!! We all have our poison! I actually shot Canon for the longest time. I had my 5Ds (MK1, 2, 3) and all sort of EF lenses for weddings and events. That 16-35 is awesome! Though I preferred the 24-70 for a slightly wider range. My travel setup used to be my 5D plus the 14 f/2.8 and the 24-70. The 14mm for all the beautiful architecture and 24-70 for everything else. That’s a great setup you got there! Why wouldn’t I reply? You only got me more excited!! 😄
@@NoctiGirlThanks for replying; as I am an old man at age 50, I have long since mellowed out in a sense that I no longer have expectations of people, hence why I said I don't expect you to reply; besides you are an adult thus are busy with your own commitments. I live in London where I was born; since age 2 I fell in love with the subway system in London (Underground), in such a fast paced busy and cramped environment my Cannon EF 16-35mm f2.8 MK3 lens is ideal.
That’s awesome! I bet the subway system in London is very impressive. We don’t really have subway here in SoCal. Actually our public transportation is very unreliable, so everyone drives here 🥹
@@NoctiGirl The London Underground (subway) is impressive in a sense that it is the World's first subway system, the first section opened in 1863, virtually all the lines are at least 117 years old, yet irrespective of it's age, it runs very well to the point where American tourists are very impressed, partly because how clean it is. I was born with a disability, as a result my parents had to take me to hospitals regularly, for these hospital visits we had to travel on the Underground, that's how my interest in the Underground developed; I'm not the only one, lots of artists of various disciplines have found the Underground to be of great interest in their work. I just bought the 50mm Noctilux and need to know which B&W closeup lens to get so that I can decrease the minimum focusing distance. The lens has a 60mm filter thread but that option is not available for closeup lens!
Here check this out:
www.bhphotovideo.com/c/products/Close-Up-Lenses/ci/158/N/4026728331?filters=fct_circular-sizes_27%3A60mm
Do you have a link to the close up lenses? Which ones are they? I know of the Leica Elpro
Oops I just realized the link to the closeup lenses doesn’t show in the video when viewed on non-mobile devices, weird 🤔
But here is the link:

Mine are from B+W and they come in 4 strengths. You can get so close to your subjects that the lens hood is practically touching the subject lol
@@NoctiGirl great! Thanks so much.
Have fun!! 😄
I have a 1.2 remake.
Beautiful lens!
I have the f/1.0 v2 and use it on the
Leica M8. At f/1.0 the way the background disappears has to be seen.
And your tip about having B/W files
To solve problems is forgotten by most.
You had a good teacher in your photo school.
Any you have a great channel 😊
Thank you for tuning in and your encouraging words! I really appreciate it 😊
Great video. Love your dedication to Noct, enthusiasm and outstanding photography. Very inspiring. Cheers Peter (fellow Leica UA-camr)
Thank you so much! I’m just a crazy girl with a crazy obsession. Thanks for tuning in. Nocti cheers! 🥂
@@NoctiGirl Charlice, crazy is good 👍
Hahaha 😆
On another note, would you be interested in some collaboration between our respective UA-cam Channels. I interview photographers from time to time on my channel and I would love to interview you. Your photography journey etc . Welcome your thoughts. Cheers Peter
Oh wow! I've never been interviewed. Sounds fun! Would we do this via Zoom or Google Meet or something? 😄
Do you have color fringes on 0.95 like mine?
Yes the color fringing is insane! I talked about it in the video 🙂
@@NoctiGirl when I started using this lens, I thought I bought fake lens
Hahaha fake lens?! Why, because of the color fringing?! 😅
Omg you have your Nocti signed by Peter Karbe?! I’m so jealous!! But I’m glad to know that I’m not the only crazy one 😂 thank you for tuning in! 😊
Thanks for this important and wonderful video!
Thanks for watching!! 😊
Love it! Inspired by you to promote 24mm that I used to focus on 35mm
Thank you so much! 😊
Were you shooting wide open in the pano or were you at 8 or 11 or something else?
Definitely not wide open! Probably f/16 or 22 because I wanted to see how sharp it would look in a pano. I'd say really sharp! 😃
My Nocitlux f1 is one of my favorite lenses. I enjoy the character of the lens. I love to see your pictures with the M6. I plan to use the Noctilux more with film. Looking forward to it :-)
I've been in Porto, Portugal, this week and have tried out the f1. I gotta say I'm pretty tempted!! The bokeh is amazing. Which version do you have??
The Noctilux f/1.0 is a whole different lens. I have it and the f/1.2 re-issue, and am looking forward to getting the f/0.95. I have the Noctilux 75 mm f/1.25 and it’s terrific.
Oh wow you pretty much have it all then! So many people have told me how much they love the 75 and while I also love how it renders, it’s just so big and heavy 😅
@@NoctiGirl The Noctilux-M 75 is a bit heavy, but exceptionally sharp. It gets more use on my SL2 than either my M11 or M11 Monochrom.
Because of the EVF? 😃
This is a very good review of the Noctilux. And, there's some amazing shots too. Poor me, I only have a Summilux...
Thank you so much! Hahaha Summiluxes are great lenses too!! 😊
Great lens, thank you for saying “ bokeh correctly.
Thanks for tuning in! 😊
Awesome video Charlice! I didn’t have any idea the lens was so heavy and as well of the difficulties with it! You definitely have mastered it! Great work!
Thank you so much Ron!! I really appreciate your encouragement 😊
Have you tried the rare m- mount SLR Magic Hyperprime 50mm f0.92? That has similar crazy shalow depth of field but with its own kind of magic 👌Great video by the way!
I’ve heard of that lens but haven’t tried it personally! I’ll look into it. Thanks for tuning in! 😊
While the Noctilux is a great lens, I find it really destroys the M form-factor so I prefer a Summilux.
The lux is also a great lens! 😄
My images look filmic because I shoot film. Nothing better than film.📷👍
🥳

Love your enthusiasm, the .95 Noctilux is on my lens bucket list for sure. 😻
Thanks for tuning in! 😊
Such an informative video! Love the pictures you took
Yayyyy thanks! 😊
Definitely, I totally agree! 😊
@@NoctiGirl try the canon 50 mm f0.95 dream lens if you get a chance. I love it equally as the noctilux
I haven't had a chance to try but I've definitely heard many wonderful things about it!! When I have the chance, I definitely will 😊

I've tried it and loved the results! It's just a REEEAAAALLLLYYYY heavy lens to carry 😅
@@NoctiGirl not to worry, it has a tripod foot (you can put the rig on a monopod to rest up, if its that heavy).
I’m gonna give it another try this weekend! 😃
Nervous and excited 😆
are you into reissue 50/1.2 noctilux too ?
Unfortunately no… the reissue is a bit too soft for me 🥹
Loved your Noct homage.
Quite a few people are also telling me that too... 😆

Hehe 😁 I feel like it would defeat the purpose to have a Noctilux but shoot it stopped down most of the time 😐
I am a photographer based in Florence.

Yes!! I’m definitely thinking about the 24 or the 21. Does it annoy you having to use an external viewfinder with the lens? 🤔
@@NoctiGirl I don't use an external viewfinder when shooting with my 24 mm. It's all routine and if needed, there's life view on my M-P240/M240.

Very interesting
Thank for tuning in! 😊
I'm glad you love it, but I'm afraid I still don't get the hype. Any one of the things you mentioned would be a deal-breaker for me. The Summilux gives me enough dreaminess in a vastly smaller and more affordable package.

my girls a fuji but I’m looking over my shoulder at that leica 🤩 anyway for the time being I’m staying in my lane…
Love the photos. Pity I never learned to use a M because MF is too difficult to my eyesight.
Thank you so much!! Oh trust me, it's getting tougher for me to focus my M's as I get older... 🥹 I'm seriously contemplating on getting an EVF to help with focusing 🙃
Wow the girl is loaded 😂😂😂😂😂
After working 7 days a week for 10 years straight to finally buy the lens and the camera, you can say I was loaded 🥹
Sharpness is everything for the pros thats what this gen say. Idk how those pros in the 60s on back worked. They didnt have AF.
Maybe you are not aware but all the current M system users also don’t have the luxury of AF…
Well if you're going to shoot exclusively with one lens for 8 years might as well be with the king of lenses, btw what kind of M9 is that?, never seen one of those.
Thanks for tuning in! M9? Which one are you talking about? 🤔
@@NoctiGirl I was referring to the silver and black M9, the green one has the strap over it so I don't know what model M it would be.
Ohhh ya that’s the M9 Titanium edition and the green camera is just an M10P Safari. Nothing special 🙂
Sometimes when a bokeh is over bokeh its just look like modern smartphone ai blur portrait which is not good (03.26)
Annnnnd that's how AI has ruined photography for us....
Time to get my eight years in. Thanks for the close up filters will be checking those out now.
Hahaha seems like I’ve converted you to Noctism 😆 welcome to NoctiClub 😍
The closeup lenses are super fun! But takes awhile to learn cuz it’s extremely hard to focus at 0.95 when you are sooooo close to your subjects. All fun tho! 😊
After I sold all my Leica gear only the Noctilux could not be sold.
Exactly!! You understand my obsession 😍
@@NoctiGirl my Noctilux is involved in an inter camera affair. I have her attached to a Canon R6II.
😮 how naughty 😆
That price though😂
Took me awhile to save up for it 🥹
need to put up with so many compromises in order to properly use this 0.95 it does sounds like a marriage!
😂😅🥹 it’s also a commitment 🤣
❤ If this lens is to heavy - you are to weak. If you have problems with focus - use a SL with this lens. 👍💪Congratulations for this Beauty. I would take it with me in bed every evening. 😂😂. My wife will tolerate this😂.
Greets from germany, Carsten from the dilapidated Villa Petersberg
Hahahaha I agree!! 😆😍😎 Thanks for tuning in!! Wish I was back in Germany 😃
Consider putting off buying a car until you're older, until you can no longer ride your bicycle. Trade in your 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux on Leica's 75mm f/1.2 Noctilux. Certainly give the 75mm Noctilux a try if you can.
Hahaha I’ve tried the 75 nocti. It’s a beautiful lens but it’s… even heavier than the 50 😅
@@NoctiGirl , the 75mm is a monster, I agree, but it's well worth the minor inconvenience of not having a nice car.
My Nocti is pretty jealous. Unmarried, not that loved and spending most of its time in the closet.
Omg you are making me sad!! Please take him/her out on a nice trip and give him/her some love! He/she deserves it 🥹
Nah for me it’s a special lens for special days. Still feels awkward to use and contradicts what I love about the M system: size and weight. Plus I’m not a 50mm guy. But it’s a fascinating lens for sure!
Hahaha I gotchu! The Nocti is not for everyone. I'll be honest I'm developing shoulder and back pain from carrying my hubby 🥹
Very nice pics. But have to say Nocti is far too extreme for me. I am very happy with my Summilux, could maybe even take Summicron.
Thank you so much!! For sure, Nocti is not for everyone. After carrying him for 8 years I’ve developed a shoulder and back pain. Love really does hurt sometimes 😂 Summilux is awesome!
❤
😊
The wedding photo with you and your "man" love a good RomCom. you Funny
Wait till we have a baby 😆
@@NoctiGirl have little 50mm's all over the place
🤣🤣🤣
So large, heavy and hard to focus. I prefer the summicron
Hahaha it is a beast. I don't mind my hubby being a beast though 😚😜🥰
Ultimately, connecting with likeminded, passionate, genuine people like you is why I'm doing this 😊
P.S. Wait for a Pt.2 where I share how I wrangle our little Noctiluxes running around all over the place out on a field trip 😆 Ok jk. Maybe half jk 😜
Are you okay?
Are you? 🤔
Good luck carrying that heavy metal block everywhere. Great lens tho.
Hahaha thanks!
@@NoctiGirl hahahaha I do have some very fast lenses, but I guess my nickname should really be "always stopped down girl" 🤣
Hahaha omg then in that case I can be LazyGirl 🤣😆😝
@@NoctiGirl One thing that I think is kind of interesting is how some lenses give you a completely different look wide open compared to stopped down. Some older lenses have a really big difference. I've never tried the Noct though, but I think it's worth messing with to see what you can get
For sure! That’s why I tried to do a pano with the Nocti. I think I did it at like f/16 or something. But you are right, I should experiment with the lens more. I might be surprised by what I discover 😊
u'r obessed, but I like ur review
Thanks! I am obsessed 😝
I came for nocti, but your hair style destroyed my focus...
um.... destroyed your focus in a good way or a bad way...? 🤔
@@NoctiGirl in a bad way i guess 😄… that hairstyle doesn’t suits you my dear, its hide yr beauty, just like that nocti when you ribbon on it
I'm sorrrrryyyy 😭😭😭
This is turning out to be a conversation between us 🤣; seriously you don't need to reply. I subscribed to your channel yesterday, and so will be posting on your other topics.
That sounds super interesting! I'll definitely have to check it out the next time I'm in London. Thanks for sharing with me! Hopefully you'll find other videos on my channel interesting. If you ever had an idea for a video that you'd like to see, feel free to share with me! I'm all ears (or eyes 👀)
Hi hai!! ❤Noctigirl😮 Silly😢
