I love how purely annoyed this guy is by the fact that his house is haunted. He's not freaked out, he's not scared, he's just incandescently angry at the inconvenience.
He's the horror game/movie protagonist I've always wanted to see.
I could only hope to be so grossly incandescent
i’m in awe of this description
@@SalientLamprophany Like a magnificent father!
Fuckin shit, do you know how expensive an exorcist is in this economy!?
The protagonist sounds like what I imagine Arin to sound like in 30 years. I love it.
Too true, it’s the way he says ass that really sells it for me
It literally sounds exactly like when he swears XD
This is 100% what it's like after hours when Arin just walks around Grump HQ
Who are we kidding? It sounds like Arin right now
It sounds like that snarky review voice thing he does lmfaooo
Protagonist: *breaks reality and walks into a white zone of nothingness*
“… Gahd damn it.”
completely enters liminal space and only response is, “… Gahd damn it.”
æss
That nothingness nearly pushed my fedora off!
I cried at that part
So relatable
I rolled my eyes when Ben was all "It's like I'm in a bad video game made by a lazy developer", but then when the _fucking developer credits_ deliberately rolled by at that exact moment it was hysterical.
It was amazing 😭😂
Such a funny moment, I'm absolutely flabbergasted they didn't pick up on it and thought it was the cold open.
You silly sausage, it could easily be both@@Fuzzyflame1
Arin: “Ass!”
Character: “Fuck!”
*uncontrollable laughter ensues*
Your comment seems to be a breeding ground for bots lmao
They DESPERATELY need to get this actor on Guest Grumps
"Bob Saget!"
AVGN vibes
Time stamp?
For the interaction button alone, this game was made for Arin to play.
Lmao "butter" at the bot
10:53:
Arin: "What the fuck?"
Tom: "What the fuck?"
Oh yeah, the devs knew Arin would play this game and say that 🤣🤣
Ass!
Something about him crawling around desperately on the ground in a white void as he descends into the deepest layers of hell and giving an annoyed "gawdamnit" just really resonates with my soul.
It's my gender
It’s my life
It’s how the character model seems moments from death and the voice sounds so unaffected that gets me
Gahdawmnit
If I were in his shoes, honestly-- same
This game is the definition of "I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with ME"
YESS! 🤣
“Gahd-dam it”
"But wait. I'm me. And he's me. And I'm him?... Gad daemit."
The crawling in the nothingness with silence until a nonchalant “god damn it” came in was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a very long time.
19:50
Yes, the comedic timing is brilliant.
I love how you can hear Arin going “hehe” before pressing that key 😂
The concept of a horror movie protag that's just too fed up to deal with any of this cryptic ghost bullshit needs to be more popular
Bro watch the movie of this, there’s a scene that’s hilarious and I’ll spoil it below if you want to read it.
The dude is up in the attic and there’s a bunch of ashes I think in a symbol and the dude brushes it away. He then watches as the ghost writes get out or something like it in the ashes and he just brushes it away again. Then there’s a scene where he is asleep and his door opens and the ghost just starts beating the shit out of him.

That actor also directed the movie himself!
I love how this was clearly a case of Arin going "let's find a real awful game and laugh at it" and instead it turned into this hilarious funny romp.
instead they laughed _with_ it. I loved this!
I firmly believe that this game was made for the grumps. It’s literally arin’s humor the game.
“I’m the poopybutthole man.”
“I’m the ding dong bing bong man.”
And one from Dan:
“If you s*** in a bowl or rice crispies does it go snap, crackle, poop?”

An instant classic.
So true. I thought the swearing was his voice for a minute.
It's so endearing because you can tell the guy genuinely loves what he's doing. He's 100% doing it for the love of doing it and it shows.
If you watch the 9 movies this is based on, you’ll know you’re absolutely right

That perfectly-timed "...god damn it" in the void was the kind of accidental comedy brilliance that only video games can achieve.
It’s amazing how it’s portrayed to be a cheap and crappy game but with the type of humor and storyline it actually makes a masterpiece.
Just like the movies it's based on!

Arin is a sweet boi
Yeah just "oh, you wanna meet him, Arin? Go look in a mirror."
_Wouldn't you like to meet a much cooler version of yourself?_
It’s a cross between arin and avgn
"He is remarkably unperturbed" is the most accurate sentence about this and should be put on it's store page.

I am both impressed and not at all surprised that they didn’t notice the spider on the camera here but then proceeded to notice the baby on the chair.
Bruh I didn't notice it either. I was laughing too much from the voice lines lol.
I clicked the timestamp to see what you meant and whwn I caught it I nearly jumped out of my skin 💀💀
I DIDNT NOTICE UNTIL YOU SAID SOMETHING
It took me rewatching this like 8 times to notice it 💀
I literally did the same thing when I played the game and didn't even catch the spider until I rewatched my stream!
Best part of this whole thing is that Arin didn’t overuse the swear button. I would have fully expected him to mash it until we turned off the video. But he delayed it enough to make it perfect. Brilliant.
If there's one thing Arin understands, it's comedic timing.

This video fell into my life at just the right moment. I was housesitting all alone, not quite freaking out about it. Then I learned that swearing out loud in this guy’s voice really helps when you’re all alone - it feels like nothing bad can happen to you if you’re saying “AYSS” in a silly voice.
Right after I watched this video there was a big crash sound (idk what it was, I think it was in a neighbor’s house) and I was walking around my house looking for what caused the sound, kind of creeped out by it coming right after the video, and then I just said “goddammit” and instantly wasn’t scared anymore. I’m going to use this tactic every time I get scared while home alone now.

As funny as this game is, the switch from the handheld camera to the basement camera was pretty cool, and the scene of the guy sneaking up behind you was legitimately super creepy
Maybe it’s because I watched Doctor Who when I was a kid, but anything of that weeping angel type “I’m getting closer but you never see me move” thing makes me instantly terrified. Something about blinking or the lights going out or the camera glitching, and the creature being just a little closer is horrifying
I love how for being a 'bad' voice actor this guy sounds so much more real than most video game voice acting lol everything he says is genuine!
Sometimes I look at how over-acted old movies tended to be, and wonder if in 50 years the delivery will be even more realistic (outside stylized settings)

this game prooves how close comedy and horror are
sometimes horror can be so goofy and funny
sometimes comedy and fun things can be kinda scary
this is the bridge that gets it all together
If this is how horror movies were actually made, I’d actually start watching them
this is like meatcanyon reversed.
I remember a horror author, I think it was Junji Ito but not certain, once said that comedy and horror are written exactly the same and the only difference is how you frame it, and how frame reactions to it. The example given being a family sitting at a table eating breakfast when suddenly one of their heads explodes. That could either be a horrible nightmare moment or a family guy gag.
I’m pretty sure they only go together because they’re polar opposites. Like contrary colors, horror would be a dark purple while comedic relief would be yellow
It's just how they're mixed. Either they bring each other to life, they don't mix well or one or both is mediocre and kills them both.
Think like how when people try to make 'scary' characters who are, like, demons, and they lean on too heavily on the cutesy stuff and they're existing in a constant crappy slice of life setting then even when they go 'spoOooOoKy' it doesn't work because they're already too human in all the least threatening ways. But if you have a Freddy Krueger type who's got his pseudo-humanity on his sleeve while at the same time behaving as a demon, he's somehow scarier because he's human in the most scary ways.
Likewise, in FNaF the black comedy doesn't disrupt the horror because it only contributes to the 'I'm screwed' feeling that the first few games rely on. But in Garten of Ban-Ban both the horror and the comedy are empty imitations of stuff like FNaF, imitating the output of that writing without understanding the thought behind it.
Sometimes the comedy is like evil mocking you, sometimes it makes a mockery of the evil. Sometimes a cast that jokes makes everything lighthearted, other times it makes it seem more like they're setting themselves up for retribution or are ignorant of the evil that itself doesn't care about how they are or how scared they aren't of it, because they will be soon enough when darkness falls over everything and it strikes
