  • I was invited spur of the moment to join ‪@NicoleHikesalot‬ on an overnight backpack in Washington's North Cascade National Park. I hiked in solo as Nicole had gone in the day prior. It was almost Labor Day Weekend so permits weren't easy to come by. Thank you Nicole! The hike begins in the lush, green rainforest ascending 38 switchbacks before opening up to stunning views of snow capped peaks and flowing cascades everywhere the eye could see. It's a visual feast. I come across Pika's, Marmots and maybe even a black bear! Join me!

the Cascades are awesome, i love them in Oregon where the McKenzie river trail is...out of Bend there are so many incredible trails along the Deschutes, the Metolius, the McKenzie, the Fall, the Crooked rivers.....even along Tumalo creek at the falls is pretty bad-ass.....i would have stopped to pick huckleberries...... ; )

Switch backs have always reminded me of hikers handy cap ramps. They more than double the trail length but make it so much more enjoyable than going straight up hill.

I absolutely love the Cascade mountains of Washington State.... all of it!🤘the extreme part like North Cascades NP and the southern part near Mt St Helens/Adams. And the forests are I think the most beautiful in all of America, probably the world coupled with British Columbia's forests too🔥🤙seriously!

We did this trail 3 years ago late August so it was warmer - I remember the 38 switchbacks! We had to hike an extra 2 miles to the trailhead maybe because the road was washed out, so it was a long out and back day hike, but the picas and one marmot and views made it spectacular. Hiked the road up to Artist Point the next day for views of Mt Baker and Shuksan. Lucky you saw a bear!

Great hike Catherine. My family lives in Bellingham WA and I've done that one a couple of times. One of my favs in the area. I've never gone into the basin I've always hiked up the arm from the pass. If you ever get back to the area and do the hike again I would recommend hiking up at the pass. What a difference to see the photographers eye in your videography. You don't just capture video clips, but you obviously frame each and every shot in a a way that shows command of composition, use of lighting and focus depth of field. Again - well done! It makes your video's have that extra level of quality that goes beyond 4K to reflect the art in what you do. So grateful for the shots of setting up/tearing down camp, cooking meals, the isolated shots of the small beauty around you. I admire you so much for what you are doing and the level of art in your work.

@@CatherineGregoryAdventures Have you ever been to Rae Lakes or Evolution Basin in King's Canyon NP? May I suggest them please, you will love it. Different than Thousand Island Lake but similar Wow factor.

Beautiful can't wait to get back out and do some hiking. The smoke is restricting me from routine. Crabbing and fishing on the Washington coast. It's not so bad fishing is good. Thank you again..

Thank you Catherine for taking me along on that great hike. The scenery was spectacular at that place, very green and sharply in focus as well.
