- • BACKPACKING COLORADO O...
This is my first ever backpacking trip in Colorado! I am joined by my niece Christine of "This Girl Hikes" (channel link: / @nomadunknown4766 ). We hike along the gorgeous Pine River Trail in the Weminuche Wilderness (part of the San Juan National Forest). On night one we encounter a severe thunderstorm and must re-assess our situation. We work it out though and wind up spending 3 nights in the wilderness total although maybe not consecutively. Watch to find out what happens! The scenery is beautiful. I cannot wait to explore more of Colorado.

Your choice of music is always so good. It’s so gentle on the mind and goes very well with the scenery.
YES.. :) Greetings from Denmark, Northern Europe, the old Viking country.
Forests, mountain rivers, Aspen trees and listening to the birds are some of my favorite things.
Nature holds the most beautiful things you will ever see.
Thank you for sharing
Many moons ago (1977) my brother, a few others and I backpacked up the Vallecito trail to Rock Creek trail, over the top to Moon and Half Moon, to Emerald Lake and on to Los Pinos (now called Pine River) trail and out to that trailhead. 5 days Counting 1 layover on Rock Creek. Had a car parked at each trailhead. My most memorable trip! This year my wife and I stayed at 30 mile campground and dayhiked the Weminuche trail a couple miles in. Thanks for jogging my memory! Oh, rain and hail back then. But only 3 or 4 hours once. And back then no dead pines from the pine bark beetle. Thanks again!!!
Wonderous!
Thank you for the sounds of water, birds chirping the bees buzzing and flowers swaying.and thunder rolling!
💌Thank you💌
I really appreciate that you let the sounds of nature come through! Love the bumbles!! 🐝
Stunning! Let's go back! 😁
I’m ready! Thank you. ❤️
Thanks for sharing this video, beautiful area. Nice job filming this area.
What perseverance ! Tip of the hat to you ladies. You went back! Awesome video w/ spectacular landscape. Once again, I would've been getting my line wet for fresh trout dinner. Thank you for sharing, Kurt
It's an honor for me to write the first comment. The thunder is majestic. The wind's nice. The sound of water is pretty, too. I want to go there but it's not easy. But I'm happy to see it on video. Thumbs up!
Thank you 🙏!
Green lakes Table Mt Wyoming.
A real treat -- looks like a old mideivel castle sitting in a valley of flowers and alpine lakes . The scenery is epic
Thank you for the multitude of landscape painting ideas .
Excellent video Catherine. You captured some fantastic shots and the essence of The Pine River Trail. Your campsite on the last night was my campsite for the first night.
Thank you Bryan! That was a great site! All three were for that matter. I’m looking forward to the video of your trip.
What a beautiful area. The cold misty morning looks great to this desert dweller.
I bet sleeping was great with the sound of the river so close. Very pretty place.
Definitely!
Your so fortunate to be able to hike in Colorado is truly heaven on earth you be safe and love your videos thanks for bringing me to the wilderness
Your narration is as calming as the scenery.
Rain is the reason we always take a tarp shelter & pole system. We face the tent doors towards the center of the Kelty or whatever tarp we bring and can still be outside our tents even in a downpour!
It's worth the extra weight, especially on a flat hike like the river.
WOW! That was wonderful.
Catherine, I love watching your videos! You are so down to earth and genuine!
Thank you.
Transporting us all through your eyes and camera. Wow. It's so breathtaking and I can feel the peacefulness of the wilderness
❤️❤️
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Despite the hardships that nature gave you on this trip, you manage to capture a lot of beauty along the way. Great work and I know it is hard work to capture it and put it together in a viewable format. Thanks so much!
Thank you for taking us with you!
Soooo beautiful. Thank you
Beautiful hike. Thank you for sharing it!
I am glad you are back thanks so much for the video
I'm running out of good things to say about your videos! Wonderful photography and sharing such beautiful places. Wow... Just amazing. And nature... rain, wind, hail. I'll take all of it over what is happening in this modern world. God's gift is what I see when I watch your videos. Nature is the cure. Thank you! 👍
I always appreciate your comments. Thank you!
Beautiful area......trail looks good....the river....and the bridges too. I am a big fan of rain and even the volitale weather...so just love it that the mountains have their own weather agenda......Love seeing the flowers and their colors also. From the perspective of my still being in a virus environment and seeing all this nature...including the bees you showed.....it is just great to see that "nature" has a mind of it's own and going forward as it always has.... thanks.
Nature has no idea what’s going on in the world. It’s as it was and always will be. Perfect. :)
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures .....yes definitely

Hello Catherine😊! What a beautiful hike. Your patience was needed at first with terrible weather conditions but you went back and had a great hike. The trail was so peaceful with the stream and beautiful greenery, just SPECTACULAR! I have driven through that area before so I know that you must have enjoyed the ride to get there through the beautiful San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. Great video Catherine.
Beautiful area, great photography!
Had a long hard day and just watched a few of your videos fantasizing about the day I can go full time in my rig. I agree with the last statement, the choice of music is perfect. That and the scenery helped me to unwind. Thank you for posting ☺️
I've been to Colorado a few times. I love the rivers & steams. Its a beauty!
Seriously gorgeous scenery ⛰ and a couple of very resilient women! ❤️
Cat, what an epic experience, it is amazing how the nasty weather leads to such clean air and surroundings. Thank you for taking us with you it is much appreciated. Stay safe and take care.
Thank you Jay!
Great videography! Great music!
Your videos are beautiful and this one in particular. Great selection of music to go along with it too.
What a beautiful trail. Had not heard of this one. Looks like a great one for someone venturing back into backpacking after a few decades away? I enjoy your adventures with your niece. What a special relationship you have 💖 Btw, you inspired me on my tent, pack, and sleep pad choices...easy, cozy, light and comfy! I opted for a 20 degree quilt and a Big Agnes liner which, together are super warm without being heavy to carry and can be used separately for warmer trips. Thanks for generously sharing all your inspiring adventures!
Awe...that is so awesome Diana!
Very typical Colorado weather...when I was In the San Juans, 2 years ago in June,...it would be sunny till the afternoon and then the storms would roll in. Rain, thunder and lightning....a normal Colorado day. Love your CAT hat...its you all the way. That Pine River camp site was sweet. I would love to hang to there for a couple of days and get some great fishing in. You passed a LOT of sweet looking fishing water. Thanks for taking along for the trip....Ill need to check out this area for myself. Happy Trails to you and Christine...
I know fishermen can’t believe I don’t fish these lakes. I hear it all the time. lol I carry enough gear as it is and I don’t eat fish. It would be great if I did to have a fresh meal out there.
Just found you this morning. What a beautiful trip, I so loved the glorious hike, your taste in scenery is beyond most when filming. Cannot wait until I view another. Take Care and God Bless
Hi Cat! Now this was just beautiful! Loved everything about it, trees, plants, river, waterfalls, great narration & music too! You should be proud! Thanks so much! 🥰👍😊⛰🏕💦🌲🗻🌿🌾🌱🗻
Thank YOU Sir!! So glad you enjoyed it. :)
Another wonderfully picturesque trip nice one👍🏻
Sitting in my living room Sunday morning sipping my chocolate coffee (Not Joking), I about fell out of my chair when I heard you say that. 1st video of the day is yours, Wow, I use to live in Colorado Springs, I forgot how pretty it is. You wouldn't believe how pretty your videos are with a big screen smart TV streaming through my cell phone. Love your videos, They are very calming in this crazy world we live in, Thanks!
Thank you!
Great video! Love your positivity and outlook. At 5:37 that is living life!
Ya very lucky Catherine. Enjoy all the beauty. Thanks Angel. Stay safe.
You're so blessed to be able to go to these wonderful places, taking us all along. Its so soothing to experience, even if through a screen 100's of miles away, the majesty & magical beauty of the forest, mountains & the river! The rain, living in a country that moves from one drought to the next, what can i truly say about the wonderful rain! Love the crocs too!
Thank you 🙏!
Really enjoyed the green trees (etc) and water.....miss them living here in the desert.
OMG
Catherine. I love this episode. The rain, hail, and river made for a peaceful location. This is some of your best work. 5- stars! You had me at Pine River Trail! Hope to see the next video real soon. We will be waiting!
Thank you so much!!
What gorgeous scenery. 😍. I live in central Colorado but have never heard of the Pine River Trail. Will definitely put it into my AllTrails app and mark it for the future. Thank you so much for making us aware of places we would not have found on our own . Great to see you both, again. Hopefully the PCT will open up again and Christine will be on it. 🙏🏼. Her photography skills, like yours, are such a gift to us. Thank you. 💕🙏🏼👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you Karen! I don’t think the PCT is in the cards for Christine this year. Selfishly, it’s a good thing for me because we will be on lots of adventures together this summer.
