Stellar mate! Loved this, seeing people moved by this song like I was the first time is so fun 😂 musicality, technicality, composition, and execution are just incredible. Bravo
Great reaction, Nick! How can you not work yourself into a seat with these guys, and especially with Jonah’s divine vocals?! Yes, as Birger said, he did all of the vocal layerings himself. And it’s A LOT of them! Actually, I found it really eye (ear?) opening to listen to this track with headphones, and without looking at the vid. Jonah slays you with his riffs 🔥 The diversity of voices, and how he builds them towards that big choir at the end, is mind boggling as well 😱🫢😵🫣🤯💥 And yes, the musicality of what goes on ‘underneath’, just brilliant ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The thing which gets me is that he hits that high note already a few times before the end, but the way he builds that feel in the end, it just completely slays us again at that last chord… There is an interesting interview with Henrik at ‘Bass Magazine’ forwardslash ‘Songified’, where he explains the making of this song, and the other ones from that album, Phoenix. It’s quite funny, and Aron, the drummer, has his fingers in a lot of it. Absolute genius as well…. You highlighted ‘accuracy’ in the way they work. Yep, 100%. ‘Perfection’ comes to mind as well….. And the way Jonah smuggles some of the classical/romantic elements into his keys playing, as well as probably in his singing and phrasing -not sure-, I find equally perfect ☺️ Someone said that the high note he hits in Breakdown, is a Bb5. All I can say, it’s almost like an insane whistle to me, and simply makes you fall out of your chair 🔥 There is a video on YT about Jonah’s vocal range. Not sure if everything in it is correct, but it sure is impressive. I’d LOVE for you to share your reaction to Breakdown with us, Nick. See you then! 👍🙏✌️☺️
Hey thanks for the reply and the info … I enjoyed that 🙏 Yes for sure I’m going to Breakdown really soon …. I need to hear that Bb5!!!! I’m very interested to see where he vocally places that as it’s definitely a note I don’t think I’be ever hit or ever will come to that hahaha 😝 Thanks
@@TheSomaticSinger thanks! And yes, it is interesting how he hits it: in typical Jonah fashion ☺️ Gotta love this guy and his vocal prowess 🫶🫶🫶 And hey, can’t wait for your reaction to that song. It’s simply one of the dopest ballads out there 😢🔥😱
Ah, this was fun! Jonah is actually singing all voices in the background choir, Aron’s just standing there for the esthetics of the video 😄 If you really wanna experience the versatility of Jonah’s voice you should check out his solo album “Now or never” from 2021. Especially “Last Farewell” when he is singing all voices of a full choir. But also some serious funky songs, a sick cover of “Bad” where he plays all instruments in his home studio (great video as well) and a couple of beautiful songs that displays his ambition to write film music.
Thanks for the heads up buddy and the extra info 🙏 ahh yes he mentioned that in the interview that his ambition is to do films scores … I have a feeling that will be a breeze for him!! Such a musical guy/band … brilliant 😊
It’s my understanding that even though Jonah is singing all of the background and foreground vocals, it’s Aaron who wrote the entire score for the chorus. On top of that it’s also Aaron who edits all of their videos.
In Breakdown Jonah hits a Bb5 in mixed voice and I saw him do it live just a few weeks ago on their US tour, along with dozens of other accurate runs and insane notes. The man is a god.
@@fiddlestix3025you’ve probably seen this, but I saw this amateur video of Breakdown and it’s absolutely amazing how Jonah not only hit that note but end it with a short run ua-cam.com/video/k1Qc0v7G6fE/v-deo.htmlsi=fwjQsoiODsFa0atq
You are right, it is a Bb5 (or B5, can't remember), and the reason he was confused about it is probably because we don't name the octaves that way in Swedish. :)
@@TheSomaticSinger "Tvåstrukna Bess" (or, if you're old school like me, and use the old German system with B/H: "tvåstrukna B"). "Tvåstrukna" roughly means two stricken, and middle C (the one just below the treble clef) is "ettstrukna" (one stricken) C, the one above that is "tvåstrukna" C, and the next "trestrukna" C, and so on. The C below middle C is "lilla C" (small/little C), and the octave below that is "stora C" (large/big C). And below that it's "kontra-c", and under that "subkontra-c". :)
@@TheSomaticSinger The Swedish shorthand for it is as follows: Stora oktaven (the large octave): C - B Lilla oktaven (the small octave): c - b Ettstrukna oktaven (middle c and up): c1 - b1 Tvåstrukna oktaven (two stricken: c2 - b2 (which in English is B5) etc. So you see how that can be confusing. :)
Hi! It was a Bb5 in Beakdown, but in Europe we have a difference of one octave when naming them :)! Middle C is do3 (C3) for us, hence the fact that he mentioned B4 in the Rick Beao's interview I think.
Ahh thank you 🙏 yes someone from Sweden wrote to me and told me the differences and it really is different which explains my confusion 🇸🇪😂🇸🇪 Either way no matter what it’s called I’m sure it was spectacular I can’t wait to react to it!! Thanks for the info buddy - I appreciate that 🙏
