Polish Copper in SEVEN SECONDS

  • This was the idea of my friend on twitch JustSomeGuyTN! I should have mentioned that in the video!
    I have been making some copper pipe lamps and needed a way to polish them up. Chat at twitch.tv/behindthescenes helped me come up with a way to build a tool for it!

    I absolutely LOVE the look of brightly polished copper. I just moved into a new house, the laundry room is filled with exposed copper lines, wife wants to replace it all. Told her no way, let me clean it, paint the walls behind and see how awesome it'll look.

      Where did you move into? A sqwatters house? It might be better to replace the wall's before you paint

      @@tonyc7352 In which country? In the States the majority of copper piping is behind walls with just outlets for the washing machine and a drain pipe. If you have a finished laundry room it will be this way so yes it's uncommon.

    looks good but how do you do it when there is water running through them in the basement to make them shine and sparkle?

    Cut handles off old two turn brushes... you can tighthen them onto drill and insert into the pipe. Works the same way but definetly saves the time

      @@TylrVncnt copper fitting brush. We always call them 2 turns because it’s two turns of the brush and the fittings clean.

    Apply vinegar and salt. It is most effective to clean.

    Try a buffing wheel and polish compound. You can get a real, perfectly mirror polish in the similar amount of time.

      @@TherealMandingo it isn't for putting behind walls. It's for those of us doing projects out of copper pipe. I've made towel holders, lamps, and shelves with copper pipe. This made cleaning up all those pieces far easier. Way to not use your brain about other uses for copper pipe.

    I read if the outside of a copper pipe is oxidized and blue not to remove the blue because it protects the pipe?
    Anyone know if that is true?

    Get a c clamp and a peice of 2x4 or something to hold dowel down. Then saw that way. Cheap vise.

    Why not sandwich the steel-wool between two pieces of wood, turn the sandwich using drill ?

      This lets you do any length of copper, I'm not sure how that would work by turning the wool

    Great instead of tarnishing it will rust high five bob. Lol please use some Scotch Brite or sandpaper. the poor plumber's that see this will shit there pants.

    You say your too cheap for a vice but you have the most expensive drills you can buy!!!!! Ok now holding the wood while you cut it. You use your bench and hold it down with your weak ha d and you hold saw with your strong hand.

      it's possible the drill was a gift.
      or that I bought it when i had a different job. or any of 100 other reasons I ha e a drill and not a vise 🤔

      @@MooseDoesStuff people watching this video probably have a basic knowledge of how to use tools all we needed to know was how to attach the pipe to the dowel and put it in the drill and used the steel wool
