    This video was very helpful when I started learning how to polish the copper plates required for my art practice (daguerreotypes). I use a mostly dry polishing method now but couldn’t have refined my process without this guide. Thank you.

    Have you tried this on copper that you have electroformed? Would love to get a mirror finish on my plating

    Hi! What is the maintenance afterward? I'm assuming that you don't spray it with window cleaner.

    Hi... I'd like to see the closer copper surface after finish. Are there any big cuts or deep scratches? Thanks,

    • @sandirussell7460
      @sandirussell7460 3 роки тому +1

      I agree. I can't believe all the scratches from the courser sandpaper were removed that quickly. A close-up of the reflection would tell the tale.

    IMHO I was devastated starting with 200grit. Why? Also, why use a drill that will create swirls over an orbital sander? Create a problem then solve it..... I don't think that I'd use anything finer than....2000 as a start point and I'd definitely have used a proper finishing pad with metal polish for the final finish. As someone else said, it would have been more transparent if there had been some close up shots to prove the concept.

    I would like to request a short video if possible showing side by side reflectance quality of common "aluminium mirror" vs polished metal of yours to see if its worth the effort? For all kind of metals if they are still in your possession.. your videos on this polishing really give me inspiration, but i am still in doubt what path i should take. Thank you in advance!

    • @BB-1990
      @BB-1990 3 роки тому

      Could just use a reflectance meter.

    Lastly in the products you listed. I don't see the drill adapter that hooks up to the 3M lock it disc. It should be a piece of metal that threads into the disk on one end and fits the drill on the other end.

    • @SkillsandTrade
      @SkillsandTrade  3 роки тому

      I just use the chuck of the drill to hold the hook it pad

    Question.... So I went through and mine is still cloudy. I'm guessing I didn't do each grit long enough to remove the scratches from the grit before. And tips to know when it's been long enough?

    • @yellowlighthouse3057
      @yellowlighthouse3057 2 роки тому

      If you change the direction you are sanding in, for example length ways then width ways, when you no longer see the scratches from the other direction you can change to the next grit.
