Frame out a window for your buddy's office! When he wants some fresh air, he can just roll up the garage door and open the window.
10/10 idea
I was gonna say a door frame for an outside door and then screen door
Yes
Is there like 4-5 feet between the 2 buildings?
Great idea
Now you can redo the rx7... You're still missing a rotary from the lineup.
I remember when he had the FC
He can do without an RX7 lmao.
I’m still annoyed at him for selling it, it was the best car in the fleet!!
i remember when the wheel fell off while they were driving 🤣
@@Noahh_jp how to fix a sloppy shifter. Still one of my favorite videos to this day.
Isaac got put on blast hard, come on Isaac!
It's okay he finds it funny lol
@@_Gingium_hey buddy love your channel you so down to earth keep up the good work 💯👍💪🔥

Caleb never ceases to impress me. How quickly he can pick something up and just understand how it works and his ability to create something out of nothing is so impressive to me. Keep it up!
You really need some Jack and king studs on those openings, with at least a 2x6 header (2 2x6’s on edge with plywood in between to match the width of the 2x4 studs). Even though the walls aren’t load bearing, the opening span still has to support its own weight, and the weight of the overhead door.
Awesome shop! BTW: You forgot to add jack studs under your door header. The header is only supported by nails! Paint is going to make the place really pop. I look forward to seeing the completed project.
Yep..... You beat me to it! I'm glad someone else saw this!
exactly what I was thinking, although I beleive he used screws.
Also flip the header on it's side and it should be at least a 2x6 with a piece of plywood in the middle
I love the way you handled things with Isaac's work. Honest, constructive, and empathetic.
So sick to see the progress in the shop! The paint booth should be a game changer. You should build a wall on wheels or something you can put into place in the garge door with filtration and air circulation to create a draft for overspray.
Yes I plan on adding an inlet and exhaust fan on the back wall!
I’d like to see some jack studs under your horizontal opening.
I came here to say this too. I half expected it to rip out when he started doing pull ups.
Unsupported opening with the garage door hanging from it is a recipe for disaster and damage to cars and people.
I love these videos so much, so satisfying to live vicariously
Ram set, and framing nailer would make your life 1000x easier
Might be worth insulating that exterior wall. Help keep the temps more stable for painting
Caleb really is a master of all. From custom fabbing walls to knowing how to frame walls! Always impressed.
You've been a carpenter since you built that wooden frame for your sim rig lol, look how far you've come!
😂😂
As a finish carpenter of 12 years, I approve of this work. Great job Caleb 👍🏼
Despite no king and jack studs on a garage door?
You always do a good job for things you've never done before.
Before doing anymore door framing, research cripple and jack studs. While you're not doing bearing walls, they had some much strength to the hinge side of the door frames.
Was just about to comment the same thing. All your door openings will be so much stronger than just the strength of the screws holding them. Also doubles up the 2x4s for more strength on the edges. It'll also add some needed strength for holding up the roll-up door for the paint booth.
I mean it's not exactly his first time, he's redone his bus multiple times which had a bunch of framing, his Delica as well, and I've watched him make a bunch of other wood projects over the years
I don’t know anything about carpentry but I googled this and had a quick question. So the main frame he did for the roller garage door. He already has a cripple stud above right? So he just needed to add jack studs to help support the weight better? Thanks!
Framing lookg great!, The door doesn't have true kind studs either, but not super important for non-structural wall like this. Would just make the wall/door shake less when you lean on it.
@@casey.adams_ exactly, the jack studs are what I worry about for the rollup door beam. It doesn't have any real support beneath it, just the screws going into the sides of it. Most likely it'll never have an issue because it's not a heavy use door but it would have been safer to have them.
Gotta love coming home from work to find a new Gingium upload :)
A cheap, light duty rolling scaffold would be a great tool for you, makes working at heights much safer and easier having both your feet planted 👍 great work
Yo for 14 hours of work that's insane. Great work dude.
You should build a ramp so you can go over the bump into the other shop. That way you could push carts or whatever you need through.
*Loving how the shop build coming along, so proud of you Caleb, been here since you had the black WRX wagon, so i saw all the shop builds❤*
What you’re doing looks great. However, all of those rollup doors have springs inside of them that make them operable, if one of those springs break, which they do from time to time with age, and depending on how often they are used, those walls that you framed behind them and covered with plywood, will have to come down in order to repair the doors. Just something to keep in mind..
***the centre partition between the external door would be great as a cupboard for spray cans, spare mig gas bottles or similar, just cut a door out of the OSB
This is coming together amazingly!!
watching you build these spaces reminds me of creating and expanding my minecraft compounds
That’s honestly what it feels like! I was going to say something in the video but thought people would think I’m crazy 😂
Make a ramp by the sink? It would be less of a tripping hazard and possible better to move things around.
B, you should make a longer ramp of the shop to your the back. With some wood n extra Aluminum.
Shop building/renovating is just so good to watch. It's coming along nicely 👍
Those horizontal beams where the big opening is need jack studs under them to be "to code." Also, the outer stud right next to the big opening should've been continuous up to the ceiling 2x4; This is called a "king" stud because it goes all the way to the top. So the pattern on either side of the garage door opening should be Jack, King, Jack, then the rest of the two walls could be as is. Though the upper center section should also probably have a header in it, TBH...
Your skinning (be it OSB, Gypsum board (drywall) or whatever) isn't supposed to lay up vertically like that, you're supposed to stack them horizontally and just cut them to the length of the wall. If a piece isn't long enough to cover a whole section, you cut it short to the center of one of the studs, this way everything has a structural overlap. If you really wanted to, you could do them vertically and it would be "fine" but only if you have this on-center aspect to them.
Doing this much work on something you don’t own is crazy
You build the wall as one piece. Top and bottom. Then after installation and fixed in place. Only then You remove/cut whatever openings you want. Ex. Window, door, etc..
trimming around the doors like you did made it look so much better !
10:00, you could add a rubber seal for the garage doors. They sell them for $30 for 17ft at Home Depot
The extra time and money spent framing the other two roller doors made a big improvement, thumbs up 👍 👌 👏
Gotta say, amazing work!!
You could get some kind of roll down canvass with Velcro for the doors. Reusable instead of stapling plastic every time
Ya boy Isaac was doin the best he can.
It would be a great idea to make the paint booth area a positive pressure room so dust can't get it
Man I'm loving this build series, shop builds are so awesome
As a non builder the only issue I see with the wall is that the door opening isn’t down right (needs a jack stud?) basically the entire door is held up based on the shear strength of the screws in the upper members, that header should be resting on a stud.
Looks awesome!
Love the expansion of the shop 👌👌good job man
Great job sir!
So stoked!! Shops coming at amazing
Loving the new area, looking awesome
It looks incredible! Can’t wait for it to get painted 🙏🏼
21:27 "ohp shit camera, gotta hide"
I love your floors.
Looks amazing guys!! It’s a big game changer!
Thats looks great man!!!! No doubt. Id done the same thing framing the other garage doors. Looks way more complete like that. Camt wait to see it all painted!!!!
You are living the dream with this build. Cheers
Plenty of good advise in there too!
Just an idea for you build a fan extraction box for 1 of the garage doors & an air filter box for the paint booth this way you will have clean air entering the booth & an extraction system, i would put the filter in the door way to the other sections of the shop or better still would be to incorporate it into the wall section separating the booth from the other section of the shop put it in the wall further Est from the roller door .
Wow looking really good! It's always satisfying to build and finish a space. I framed my server room and rest of basement like 10 years ago and finally started to drywall it because I'm putting in a wood stove and there's just something great about actually creating a room and some separation. You fixing that bad construction job reminded me of an episode of Holmes on Homes lol.
Place is looking really good
Such a long way from hot gluing stuff in your car at your parents house! Have been here since the pre-turbo Molly days'. Keep killing' it, Caleb!
wonderfull work!
I just love watching you expand. Makes me want to go buy a shop haha.
Nice to see your carpentry getting better since way back! Just s tip though make the joints of your OSB land on a upright, made me wanna puke when I saw that😂
Nice work man. Came out fantastic
That's awesome man! You're living my dream! I'll have a shop someday and I'll be referencing these videos.
Idea for the new office: the wall that is towards the garage door should get a window, so when you're in the office and you want some natural light... open the garage door. Then shut it when you're done for the day. Thank me later!
I know you said the floor isn't perfect and it does kinda suck that its imperfect but it shows that things can be imperfect and still work near-flawlessly and most people may not even notice that there's said imperfection and i think that's best about your channel, you show everything is still possible despite the downs you know of!
Love garage builds!
Loving this content Gingium!
Great work my friend, it would have helped to see your floor work also.
personally i would relocate that fire extinguisher in the paint booth so it wouldnt be a hazard to grab while plastic is up
super happy to see you grow!
Damn, an entire vid of carpentry and Gingium still made it totally watchable.
Love the shop content. Gunna be sick
Awesome 😎 love watching the garage renovation content
That step looks dangerous to new section of shop maybe a cemented ramp or a wooden ramp.... All looks amazing.... 💯🙂👍
Second day of saying: PUT HI VIS TAPE OR SOMETHING ON THAT DROP, SOMEBODY GONNA TRIP AND FALL!!!! and/or put a sign too. Hi vis or even some grip tape would make a world of difference!!!
Should definitely paint the roof black it'll pop and make the building seem taller than it is
Would have been better as a mini showroom for the nice cars
this turned out so good dude its insane how much a couple of osb boards can do to a place
If you had a nice filtered air intake you could make the air pressure in the paint booth slightly positive and that will stop and dust etc coming through any little cracks 😊
You should do a retarcting curtain to cover those doors.
Man you killed it in this video 👌 everything you did looks great I can't wait to see it all painted
I was looking at the paint booth and was wondering if you might want to put a normal door in that wall. That way you don't have to open that entire sliding door to get in and out when painting.
Honestly would've been a good idea but a bit late now lol
Caleb, i think you should make a extra small entry door to your paint booth. That is way more convienaint than every time opening that big door.
Your shop is starting to look like the shop from any of the car mechanic sim games, its so fucking cool.
The blocking for the cutout around the beam needs to go all the way between the two studs, not just an "L" shape. Also, you need jack studs under the header for your opening. The only thing holding up your header right now is the screws.
I remember when you were fixing cars in the driveway. This and the progress you’ve made is awesome
12:11 damn it was really nice of you to help your buddy finish it lol and you did a much better job than he would based on what we could see on the video xD
EDIT: god dayuuumm!! you only did that in 13-14 hours?? to me it looked like DAYS of work o.o
Good job broo 👍
Congrats🎉
It looks great! You should go back in and cut off the bottom inch of osb that is resting on the floor due to your moisture issues. It will suck it right up into the rest of the wall if water ever gets in there again.
Love your videos man you have came so far keep it up !
You should paint the step up in the bathroom yellow or something.
SO SICK
Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but you know that paint booth wall gets standing water when it rains, so before you get “too” far you should waterproof that lower wood of the wall since it is not pressure treated.
😂nah the fact the framing is on point and squared /plum is crazy
The walls by the doors are worth it for the aesthetics. Plus it'll help a little with insulation, if you need more justification for them.
14:14 Measure twice cut once 👍
having cool cars is one thing but having a cool place to put those cool cars, now that's the good shit right there
I am curious what your landlord thinks of all these improvements you are doing to the space. Love the transformation!
Please insulate the outer walls. It will help in winter sooooo much
you should make/purchase a step cover for the ugly concrete step between the two units to make it look better
Instead of plastic over the door openings you should frame up a removable wall(s) that slots in and holds fans and filters.
