@@HardcoreElimination this is clearly assuming you have knowledge of the game going into it. he writes as if you’ve already played the whole game, the guide isn’t for beginners it’s for winning consistently
I typically prefer to go to the jungle as opposed to volcana. It may be harder overall than volcana, but I can typically get almost every piece of equipment off bat if I go there. There's also a pretty good chance for you to get a jetpack from it. You will also easily have 4× the bombs compared to when you go to volcana, both from saving the sisters and buying them out the black market.
Excellent! This was recommended to me. Time to go for my first CO run! By the way, an extra tip after winning the Hundun fight is to avoid standing on a purple block too close to the eye portal. I've seen people fail to spikes at the last second.
I'd argue Volcana is not particularly easier than jungle, and it absolutely is the opposite of consistent. Level generation in Volcana can drown you in lava pools, multiple lavamander spawns, random magmars and random cavemen taking idols and triggering lava traps. If the game decides that you should die, Volcana would be one of the worst biomes to find yourself in. The two real problems with Jungle is the lack of Vlad's cape and the unpredictability of Black Market item drops, specially the jetpack. As far as the Temple/Tide Pool choice goes, Tide Pool is generally better for solo and 3-4 player co-op runs. Temple, however, is nicer to have in 2-player co-op runs. You'll be getting 2 kapalas, the alien compass, the sceptre and the elixir, provided you use the jetpack skip (even more incentives to go jungle).
Yeah for a while I only went Volcana on my runs, but not anymore. My #1 gripe is the drill shaft is a total death trap with random firemen falling down. You can mitigate lava drips by waiting a minute or so, but firemen falling and killing you are 100% luck. But as you said, Volcana is ripe with BS in general: firemen falling in from off screen as a whole, random explosions destroying the ghost pot, lavamander or explosions blocking the only way forward due to lava are all too common occurrences to call Volcana "consistent". Nowadays I decide based on what equipment I got by 1-4; if I have at least 6 bombs and either climbers+high boots or a jet pack then I'll go Jungle. And then if I still couldn't get a jetpack by Olmec, and I have paste, I'll go to Temple.
Usually I go jungle under most circumstances, just cause I really like how much more stuff I get out of it, and I like it more. I only really go volcana if I have no explosive item on my back, and if I am think Id be better off there than Jungle
Your probabilities are wrong. Doing the dice whip technique does not make you win 66% of the time. You actually win 75% of the time. Rolling double one only happens 1 out of 4 rolls.
Lots of really great information! I have one trick of my own that's not in the video, you can clone humpback instead of cloning the present and use the cove in the bottom right to safely kill him, which will net you cloned presents as well as cloned hired hands
Great video! I think you left out one important tip, when entering the sun challange your best chance of survival is to got to the top corner (left or right, either one) and stand underneath one of the enemyspawns whipping them all so they can't attack you. This works 98% of the time. If you have paste bombs or is a master cooker you could also blow the spawns out in the corner and just chill for 30 sec.
The easiest way to do the sun challenge is to kill the lady out front and dodge her poison arrow. Then when you enter the challenge room nothing happens and it only takes one bomb in the upper left corner to free yourself to get the golden arrow. Of course this method definitely needs paste.
Lovely tips! Had to watch it at half speed, but got a lot of value from it. Sunken city could have some more tips though. It sounds like it is easy, but this is a very tricky area for many people to get through.

Ok. I have been gaming since the 90s and one thing I have learned from gaming is that cheating (knowing what is gonna happen before it happens) ruins the experience. All of this info is pretty damn much cheating- like yes it still requires a ton of skill- but putting in the effort to skill up is a grind and not fun....Whats great about Spelunky 1 is all the surprises and its my first rougelike and it prevented save-scumming (which is another form of cheating) so the idea of skill building to reach the end was intriguing to me. Overall what I'm saying is....I dont have the skill required to get far in Spelunky 2- I hated it and I probably would enjoy it more if I played it with a friend and if I knew all its secrets but the grinding of learning everything is a job and when the game ceases to be a game and begins to be a job thats where the fun ends for me.
You put consistent on volcana . You mean like consistent drill to Kali a lava pit and the shopkeeper, or consistent magma man hits shopkeeper into breaking curse pot? Because if so yes.
Another tip regarding dice: If you happen to have the throwing glove, trying to whip the dice on the ground is probably really hard. instead jump, throw downwards against the electric barrier and then you'll have enough time to whip the dice
As much as this video was useful i think what I need is a things to avoid advanced version. I have like 100 hours in the game and I've never beaten hundun, Ive reached sunken city 4 times and everytime I never kill hundun. And usually my runs end way earlier in very stupid ways
My biggest tip to players is: grab EVERYTHING from dwelling and move straight toward exit everywhere else. Get really good at grabbing 100% of the loot you can from the start and prioritize saftey from 2-1 and on. Also a bomb bag/rope pile is $2,500 for 3, or $833 per bomb/rope. Always use a bomb or rope in dwelling to grab gold/gems worth at least $1,500 (use one, get two free)

I almost exclusively play this game 2 player coop and always go Jungle. We went Volcano for awhile but got fed up with the unpredictibiliy of insta lava deaths, or backpacks blowing up from falling firemobs. Jungle is initially more complicated and more dense, but infinitely more predictable. Master Jungle and you'll walk into Olmec fully kitted and well over a dozen HP every time. Jetpack is a guarenteed drop from Anubis 2 if you don't get one before hand. Almost always do tho.
Why does the first scene say “spelunky 2 is hard” but shows an easier version of dwelling (all the moles and lizards would’ve died so it would be easy)

Your probabilities are wrong. Doing the dice whip technique does not make you win 66% of the time. You actually win 75% of the time. Rolling double one only happens 1 out of 4 rolls.
my bad
only thing i would want to point out, is that van horsing is very helpful for the vlad fight
Good video just one inaccuracy: No 66% because you can get (1;6) (6;1) (1;1) (6;6) => 75% that you win.
1;6 and 6;1 are the exact same result with the same probability of occurring. 66% is correct.
