    Once again reenforces my feelings of never wanting an attached garage😮 what a terrible thing right before the holidays to lose use of your home. My prayers to the family.

      Not that there is anything good about this fire, however, the good thing is that they were renovating according to neighbours, and no one was living in the home. It was used for an Airbnb so we are told. So thankfully no-one was displaced other than property damage. Still not a good thing to happen before the holidays.

      I believe, (I could be wrong) that the fire started in the garage. The fire on the living area of the home was exterior mostly at that location around the bedroom window. my friends grew up in that house, I lived around the corner. @@jmWhyMe

      Properly done, there's nothing wrong with an attached garage. By standard building code, they require a 1 hour fire wall. You can easily double that with a second layer of dry wall.

      Why? So you can fall through the attic? The fire was in the attic, weakening the structural supports. It's pretty simple really, get inside with a nozzle & a hook. Pull some ceiling, spray wet stuff on orange hot stuff. Everything gets better.

    Why wasn’t a line placed on the interior right away? Enter through the side door. Paint the walls as you go flowing in an O pattern which will entrain fresh air behind you make the livable space more tenable. Searches can be done safely and the fire can be extinguished.

      @Bentcypress 7 місяців тому

      You are right. Vinyl is dangerous. You might as well paint the house with gasoline. Never use vinyl for anything, siding or even "luxury flooring". Not only does it burn quickly but it gives off poisonous gasses. It's the worst invention ever.

    Well someone "royally" messed up the supply line! That being said, why didn't they shut it down and fix it? They could run on tank water for that short time. The strain on that supply line being bent like that is what causes ruptures in the lines later on when in service. Possible during a key time of use. Can the fire trainers start teaching garage door construction please? It's very simple. You either cut on both sides were the bar goes across and locks into the rail or you cut the top were the garage door attaches to the opener rail. Stop using the stupid triangle. I have never found it to be of any use.
