Having just receiving my two commission cars from Rob in the mail yesterday; I can honestly say that anyone who wins these 2000 likes cars won't be disappointed. The video doesn't do justice the spectacular job that Rob does to these castings.

Two jobs ago, the college I worked for had several ' 83 Fairmonts in their vehicle fleet. To me, they just seemed like everyday basic transportation.
You brought that casting back to life ..

Hi Rob. We have watched all your videos, with great interest, over and over again! My autistic 10 year old son is obsessed with both mk1 escorts, as I am, and with your channel. We both look forward to the next video! We would love to see you do a mk1 escort restoration video. My sons favourite quote is “footlong hotdog jar”!! 😂😂A mention in a video would really make his day mate! Regards. Mark and Bailey Morgan.

Awesome job with this car. The black paint looks great and the little extra details like the painted roll bar and lights really kick it up a notch. The wheel swap looks so much better than the originals.

I love it. Reminds me of the real automobile that my friend had in 1989. Very similar paint and wheels, but the grille was left stock. When I saw this car, I could hear his loud exhaust.

    • @raverboyloki
      @raverboyloki 4 роки тому +1

Yeah, dating myself here as well... I remember that the coupe was a semi departure from the boxy design of the sedan, the formal coupe (there was one with a vertical rear window and a landau roof), and the wagon. I think this car's main competitor at the time was the Chrysler Le Baron which had a similar design in their coupe.

The Ford Fairmont Futura is a somewhat rare car these days and commonly used for drag cars. They do share the same fox body as the mustang making them easily modified. You finished this model just as I would a life size Futura. Well done...

The Fairmont was the first car Ford built on the Fox body platform. My oldest nephew owned the Mercury version of this car the Zephyr. His was the 4 door though. I had this Hot Wheels when I was a kid. I remember when the gold centered wheels first came out. It looks amazing in black.

Nice job , tip ! after masking , paint a coat of your base color -in this case white, then only white creeps under tape let dry fully then spray other color, result will be super clean and sharp,

Fairmont followed the Maverick and was the predecessor to the Tempo and was an important step stone in the Fox body platform for Ford. I owned a '79 Black 2-door Fairmont with a white interior.

Very nice. These cars were everywhere in the States back in the late 70's and 80's. Ford offered them with 4,6and V8 engines. As others have said they shared many parts with the mustang.

My first car was an 81 Fairmont, but a 4-door. The slurry color was pretty much the color of my car. Your black one looks so much better. The Fairmont and Mercury Zephyr were the same car with one exception: the Zephyr's tail light lenses had horizontal separations, the Fairmont's were vertical.

Another great custom! I love how you brought this beat down racer back to the track. I was saddened that the white and gold/yellow paint was not satisfactory to you because all black cars loose a lot of detail. I love the choice of wheels, it gives it a great stance. Your headlight and taillight treatment always makes these previously drab models pop, I just wish this was another color other than black. *Side note: great idea spraying the base black, it hides the overly enormous wheel arches and too large of a gap between the fender and the tires!! Bravo sir Bravo!

Great job as always. As far as the subject matter, I agree about taking a plain auto and sprucing it up a bit. Having worked in law-enforcement during the eighties I was not willing to give-up my Plymouth Fury police package (360 c.i. V-8) For the Fairmont. The were powered by a series of V-6's up to 300 c.i. . Over time of course, I did and I survived it.

One of the nicer HotWheels castings; I like the ones they did of "real" cars. The black was a good choice Rob. Using a variety of "percentage estimation" software, my calculations for the paint removal produced the following results: *quite a lot* of the red came off.
    Hope this helps.👍
    Cheers for now,

I always thought the Fairmont would make a cool little hot rod, my father in law actually had one with the anemic 6 cylinder of the day. I also worked with a fellow who had a Mercury Zephyr that had a little V-8, he had mag wheels, headers, 4 BBL is was a very nice little hot rod! I did a resto on the Hot Wheels Fairmont and it turned out very nice, I also have purchased (2) other Fairmont basket cases that I will turn into hot rods.
