#warhammer40k #miniatures #gamesworkshop - Навчання та стиль
Thanks Jay for specifically calling me out for only finishing my Eldar half of Eldritch Omens
I’ve finished the chaos side only! But I’ve got an eldar army aswell just haven’t gotten to it
@@minishaw280 my Iron Warriors would really appreciate it if I finished the Warpsmith
@calebwhyte6957 you will! Now that you’ve made this comment you’ll make time this week to at least build him!
Not even as bad as the battle boxes that you buy...and don't play either army.
@@musicalcharge if you saw the amount of warhammer I have you would freak at the amount of armys I don’t play hahaha
Jay: do not have pile of shame, you can always buy miniatures.
Gw: these cool miniatures exist until stocks last, tomorrow they will dissapear forever.
Are there really that many FOMO kits you want to have for your army? I feel like over the year it’s what 2-3 models like store anniversary, Warhammer day, and Christmas release? The rest of the fomo is just discounting or early access to models, and it’s across the factions. Do you really need every versus discount box, every army box starter, etc?
I collect…. 2 armies. Neither has gotten anything new in 2022, so I’m either buying older skus that are always available. The Christmas boxes had options for them, but I didn’t pick them up because it wasn’t the right model combo to be worth it to me.
So really the only applicable fomo models I can think of are WH Day’s Bayard’s revenge, and a store anniversary model.
If you got new models this year, great. But I guarantee that means you didn’t get them last year or the year before. So, is it *really* a problem?
@@timunderbakke8756 I mean... If you wanted some of the nice terrain that came with Warcry and had like two or three other stand alone boxes you'd be out of luck today. Same goes with any of the spells for Aos. There's a lot of stuff they randomly decide people won't have access to anymore.
Not that any of these things are NEEDED, so I guess what you said can be said about anything. Just don't buy things and it's not an issue. But that's not really a solution to the real and manufactured issue that GW has designed.
@@brimstonearmory5504 I was unaware of the AoS problems since it’s not a system I follow. My observation was more with 40k, where every single product outside of the explicitly marked exclusives like the Warhammer day model always end up available at some point. The Kill Team terrain comes out loose, the model kits do etc.
I can see the frustration in truly limited time offers for things that aren’t the annual exclusive.
Yes, it depends on faction. Yes, if you are tyranids/harlequin player, so there you have about 2-3 boxes. But! About 50% of players are space marine collectors, even more are ‘imperium’ collectors. How many primaris leutenants exists? It is just one example. What about japanees ‘space marine heroes’?
@@Haroith I have a space marine army as one of my two. To my knowledge, since 2020 (when I got in), the only exclusives have been the annual mini, which in that case was a chaplain in termie armor, a bladeguard Lt, and Bayard’s revenge. I’ll grant you, Imperium magazine has that one exclusive captain that’s annoying but most space marine kits are available on the shelf or will be at some point when restocked.
The most important lesson I've learnt is that paints, gear and cool new models don't make you a better painter, Painting and love for the hobby does
Word mon ami, and lots of practice. Helps to study the work of others too, and talk to them about how they do what they do, if they are friendly. I found most were. I used to know a guy at my local shop that had won the painting contest at the Grand Tournament they held in I think Baltimore every year. I think it was called the Golden Deamon? His name was Chris something, I forget his last name, but he won a couple times. Dude LOVED to talk about painting techniques and teach people how to go about it. Was a really good dude.
I needed this comment. Ty.
And painting videos. Painting videos are crucial. Without those videos, my models would be trash looking, even having already painted LOTR GW models
@@kevindiaz3459 that's the kind of enthusiasm that makes this hobby so infectious! I hope he is still out there spreading love and enjoyment

Man this channel is so damn wholesome, every time i feel down on my painting skills or just burnt out this channel really gets me in the right mindset. It's like a cozy security blanket lol.
I don't know why - but this has slowly become one of my favorite things to watch. I like the host genuinely and I think I could be friends with him - and I mean that in the least creepy way possible. It's like watching the lovable nerd I used to hang with make youtube vids. Pretty good content.
Same, I recently noticed when I paint I used to put lore videos or battle reports on, now I just keep rewatching Eons of Battle vids.
There is no way to make this not sound weird, however, I think alot of people understand completely and feel the same.
Yea I understand. Jay comes across very approachable and a gaming friend anyone would want. It’s not weird just phrased oddly.
I call it my Table of Opportunity! Calling it a pile of shame automatically sets a negative tone. You gotta get the right mindset!
Jay: “don’t have a pile of shame”
Me: Just finished painting a unit of rogue trader space marines that has been sitting in my pile of shame for 32 years XD
BY THE EMPEROR THAT'S LONG
One of US!
NICE! I had a box of those, I might still have them. No, I think I sold them on ebay. If I do have them they are in my massive pile of shame that I haven't touched in at least a decade.
I am seriously proud of you.
Nyah, all my RTB-01 minis were painted back in the 90s. I've just picked up a Skaven BB team that I started in the mid-naughts though.
Jay is the type of friend that i always wanted to have. like i could nerd out on ludicrous level without getting shunned
Agreed!
I don't get the " Pile of shame " thing.
There is no shame at all! I just have a pile of awesome stuff, that when I look at it, I'm filled with excitement ,knowing I still have all these amazing kits I get to dig into whenever I choose. Why shame? I bought it, and I'm happy about that.
If you absolutely enjoy your collection, there is no shame. No regret? Then no shame.
That's why I call it my "pile of potential".
100% same for me. I buy the stuff I really like, and I'll get to it when I have time. It's awesome finishing up a kit then getting to look through your pile and deciding what you want to do next. No need to go to a store, wait for shipping, or find out the model was discontinued and now you can't get it. Obviously if you have like 200 boxes sitting around that you don't even have enough time left in your life to paint that's a problem. But when I see people with a "pile of shame" that is literally just 8 boxes of units they want to have in their army there shouldn't be any shame with that.
Thanks for this video! My husband and I are getting into Warhammer after being away from wargaming. He originally wasn't planning on joining me but I'm slowly convincing him. I might collect a loner army as I get further in learning the rules.
I love my pile of shame, I very easily get bored with painting certain colours so I love bouncing around things, or sometimes I have to wait for a delivery before I can finish a project so I have something else I can move onto. Its also easy to become disheartened with painting one thing and you need something else to get over the hump. Dont let it get too large, but having some hobby options is good, imo.
But I am currently sitting on KT: ITD, half of the Votann army box, a couple of units of Ravenwing Bikes, Tau Combat Patrol and a lot of old stuff that has been stripped / needs stripping. So yes I don't practice what I preach.
Also Jay: What are your thoughts on Stap speeder bikes for Star Wars Legion?
The issue with the "pile of shame" is seeing it as shameful. I mostly buy my minis off ebay due to not being rich so if I see a good price I take the opportunity. Even if I wasn't actively looking for such minis. Either they'll be great fun at another point of my painting career or they'll deliver bits. In the end I could still resell them, they usually don't lose worth - quite the opposite actually.
some thoughts:
Pile of shame: 1) periodically go through it and sell what you know you will never paint or doesn't inspire you anymore. 2) have bit boxes, for your extra parts. There is no reason to keep them on a sprue and in the original box plus when you want to kitbash everything is organized (i.e. sword arms in one bin, armored head in another) you would be surprised how much can be condensed. For limited runs its usually best to get it when its first up if you really want it or prepare to pay extra down the road but they should fall into the periodic trimming of the Pile
Brushes: All true, only thing I would say is its ok to have more then a few brushes if it is the cheap ones, I buy my cheap workhorses in packs of 50 just so i don't have to go out and constantly replace them I get a new pack like once every year and a half.
Tool: Yep review before you buy
Wargaming: ya If you are LFG in the area and its hard to find games maybe don't start out by making a 4000 point army and start with one of the skirmish games like Killteam or Warcry. Also there are a lot of games now that do have solo rules so you can get a hang of the mechanics while you are LFG
Comparing to others: only should be comparing your paining to your last paining. Keep one or two minis from when you started and then compare them to where you are now you will be surprised how much you have improved.
Feel like this should be said, but as someone who is getting into the hobby this is gold. I actually followed with the whole killteam first before reading this. Thank you for being a pillar of light
My pile of shame goes back to the 90s, its never going away..
My pile of shame is carefully ordered, I have the minis I don't want to screw up the most sitting at the bottom so my skills will have improved the most by the time I get there. Does anyone else do this?
I was very skeptical of vortex mixers, especially because of the prices. I recently got a cheap one for for $35 bucks and it has quickly become indispensable. It saves time and addresses an annoying part of the painting process, allowing me to focus more on the fun part of the hobby.
Yup, got one for Christmas and I've already done more painting in the last few weeks than I did in the few months before hand. As with almost anything it's a case by case basis, but in my case it's been amazing
Link for 35 dollar one?
I find with AP paint I basically need to vortex it. That stuff separates so much but once finally mixed together it behaves a lot like vallejo IMO.
I tried several brands of brushes, but in the end I found it to be the best to buy 6€ set of five from a local supermarket. Bought now one set and they are just as good as I need.
My issue with buying sets is that I end up with a bunch of brushes I don't use. I have about four fan brushes that I have no idea what to do with.
@@AnddehHiggs Happy little trees.
@@f0rth3l0v30fchr15t Beat me to it!
One thing I can say I am proud of is the paint buying. I bought most of my paint 5ish years ago when I started painting minis for D&D and I am only JUST starting to replace them now. Except for the primer and the varnish rattle cans. Those I’ve replaced a few times XD.
Man your videos are so fun, relaxing, funny, and interesting. Thanks for all the amazing content and cool ideas 💡
"you can always buy miniatures" Cries in Indomintes box set
All of those models are available, though. You'll pay a good bit more, sure, but you *can* get them - and do you really need *all* that stuff?
i love when my brushes hook, allows me to do edges really cleanly
i love those duble boxes. cause i love to use the small armies to make small battles with friends to get them into the hobby. also i used them to get some things started which i was excited for ( like deathguard ) and i was able to passive build and paint a 2000 point space marine army with a decent unit option.
the only project im probably never ever gonna go and finish is my adeptus mechanicus, even tho i took a day and painted / re painted / optimized all my current models except 3 which werent even build. .
The Army Painter brush set is a great way to start. Their handles are awesome, the bristles are tight and stay pointy.
Rosemary & Co is great if you want sable fur brushes.
A vortex mixer will save you time, and cramps in your hand. They can be had for under $50.
I bought the army painter starter set, and the regiment brush is literally falling apart already. The plastic-y coating on the handle is literally flaking away. I've been really disappointed with the overall feel of them.
The brush parts of them seem fine though, certainly ok for a starter although they are a tad dear.
Great video Jay, your last point really resonated with me, I was out of action in Hospital for a few week having a tumour removed 3 years ago and spent far to long looking at other excellent painters on social media and comparing myself, when I got out it put me in a real painting funk and killed my interest. When I realised for myself exactly what you said the candle was relit and has burned even brighter, allowing me to take what those painters have shown me, better myself, and be more content in my output. Keep up the good work man.
Awesome video! You speak the truth all to often... And for some odd reason i got a feeling i should purchase some STAP speeder bikes!
That last one was pretty inspiring. I'm always comparing what I do to others and it takes the fun out of it.
Honestly one of the best hobby videos Ive watched! This is actually really good!
You coaxed me into finally putting the base coat on my Legionaries kill team. Thank you
Nothing makes me happier lately than that intro music. Thanks for keeping me sane with the awesome content.
You can get a cheep nail polish mixer to mix paints. That’s what I use :)
I've got 1 expensive brush, W&N S7 #1, and I 100% think it's worth it. It was world changing for me. And I don't even like painting, lol. But hooked synthetic brushes are handy as well.
Your dos and don’t lists cracked me up!!! Thanks gents fantastic as always!!
When it comes to shaking paint , I use Vallejo, but if you have an electric screwdriver, put a piece of poster putty on the end , then a piece of cardboard, then put your paint pot on that with another piece of poster putty. Then spin it horizontal qnd vertical for about a minute. It's not high speed and you'll still have to shake some , and it'll fly off eventually, but spinning it a minute with the tool seems to help.
Thanks Jay for teaching me how to make friends, I am going to go out there now and find my peeps. Wish me luck
I needed to hear this today ☺️☺️ love your honesty!!!
The brush setup i have is cheap sets for like 80% of the work then a Raphael 8404 for the last 20% that will take longer than the first 80% oh and to back that up, sam lens also does this and he has won awards with that.
Way solid video Jay some great pieces of advice. I got a ways to go though on getting a group together cause wargaming is nowhere around me for miles, and they only play cards at my local game shop. It's a lot of work but I've started two age of sigmar armies and haven't put my core rule book down since I got it, I just hope I can be enough of a spark to start a fire.
My new favorite brush set is the Sable set from Pro Acryl is amazing. It's about 60 for 4 brushes which is cheaper than most really good brushes.
About brushes;
I have some *very expensive* natural sable ones that I use for finishing touches (and I've used the same 3 for years), some middle of the road synthetic ones for basecoats and the cheapest ones for oils that get absolutely destroyed (and after that they are used for technical and texture paints).
Ps: just counted them, I have 17 brushes and one huge brush the size of my hand 🤣
Ya but don't forget to add +1 on hits due to quality of brush work. Rule 4.1.5
@@peterpickguitar the advantage is psychological ☝️people ignore the half painted deathshroud termies.
I totally agree with everything you said, except for the vortex mixer. They can be had for as low as $35 on Amazon now and they are totally worth it, especially for contrast paints.
I blame my family for my current pile of shame, my wife sent my wishlist out to people before Christmas and now I have 3 different combat patrol boxes, two Rhinos, and the Black Templar Grimaldus and retinue box to paint :D
This hook can actually sometimes helps to get into this one hideous corner:)! I have one such cheapest brush with hook, bought just to see how it will hold. Now using it mostly for metallics, but I had situation or three where it was just right shape. For the time it's hairs were straight, it was just allright brush, I even liked to paint with it. Though it lost straight shape really fast:).
Brushes are a thing, totally agree. I own the complete series of both the black Citadel and the white Army Painter brushes. (Except the citadel scenery ones, they dont make much sense) Combined with a pot Master brush cleaner, wich i truthfully use after each painting session, this all combined should last long enough.
Im completely done with cheap synthetics. They are ok-ish when theyre new, but go bad really quick after little use. I was fed up with it, so i pulled out 100 euros and solved it all at once! One of the best moves i made hobby-wise!
My hobby resolution for this year is to have more finished models than pile of shame! I jumped head first into Sisters of Battle and RPG terrain when I started last year and bought too much too quickly 😅
On the pile of shame, I think that the only things you should buy while knowing you wont immediately get to it are things that you know wont last long. Core army units should be fine if you wait, but speciality units or kits are more on the fomo. So avoid diving into other armies if you still have kits to finish unless there’s kits like Battleforces that actually save money in the long run and you plan on playing them. Other thoughts?
Yeah that's pretty much my "pile of shame" Still working on a handful of models from another kit and I normally don't by things till I've finished what I'm working on, but I decided to pick up the Cadia Stands box because I know I want to start collecting guard this year.
I usually only have like 2 or 3 models unpainted at any given time. I currently have a few more than usual due to Christmas but they're almost done :)
One of the best pieces of advice regarding miniature wargaming and painting. Thumbs up!
I like a size 4 with a nice tip or the brush that comes with the army painter paint sets. Good belly and a good tip will take you a long way
"You can always count on it to hook to the left."
My Vortex Mixer was probably one of the best things I got in recent times. I use it every day and it's so much more effective at shaking paints. I have some paints that I really couldn't use no matter how long i shook them and now with the vortex mixer they came alive and are finally usable now.
I wish I had something like that years ago when I still painted. I absolutely hated the shaking part. I was so OCD about it, and I would get tired of all the shaking. Especially because I used a lot of paints in a single sitting. I was kind of a machine for it, as I not only had my own but I also took commissions and sold them on ebay too. I had like an assembly line style painting method, where I would do something on one unit, move to the next while waiting for paint to dry, and so on. Honestly, it really ruined the fun and is part of why I don't do it anymore.
@@kevindiaz3459 I knew a guy that got tennis elbow from shaking a huge line of new paints he bought. So it really can be pretty hard on the arm.
Already failed number 1.
Trying to finish what I have (BL Chaos, Ultra SM, Necrons, Skaven) Still have my first set of Skitarri to assemble... haven't even opened my Death Guard Battleforce,...and I'm still contemplating buying Boarding Actions. I love this hobby!
Buddy, don't worry about it. All of the "do nots" he mentioned, I've done.
I have a few really nice natural Raphael brushes and they are great but I get a lot more use out of the Princeton Synthetic Series 3750--$10 for a set of 5 different sizes on Amazon.
i buy the 7$ pack of 8 brushes from hobby lobby and use those till they get too messed up to use and i use brush soap to extend the life.
I recently bought the army painter master drybrush set since the artis opus ones are a bit cost prohibitive and theyre just about the only brushes i use any more.
Also that comment about the hooking of brush bristles was funny cause i absolutely keep a few brushes that develop a hook to paint the inside edges/surfaces of hard to reach places and edge highlight using the curve for sharp highlights since im bad at doing the edge hilighting without dry brushes lol
I actually like hooked brushes because I can with certainty do alot of straight line work because I know my hand is more steady than a straight brush normally allows.
I got better with getting stuff done, my pile is down a bunch, started the year pretty good gonna have 23 done by this weekend. What I like about it is I can bounce around thru my different factions and it keeps things fresh.
Thanks Jay- getting through depression and tough times. Often your videos are the best part of my day- thanks for getting me through and all the content
damN
Lol I have some really old paints. So a vortex mixer did help alot
I don't have a pile of shame, i have my own exclusive personal store 😅
I'm glad to hear #3 brushes get a shoutout. I keep hearing from people that for mini painting, a #2 is best. But I just love how #3s feel and that's my choice type of brush.
Also, for the comparing oneself to others, joining groups online helps dull the feeling that everybody is a god tier painter. I'm in a couple of groups and it's nice to see other people who are on my level of miniature painting. Plus, they're also stoked to share their work!
Different manufacturers and even different series from same manufacturer have differences in size between the same number. Use the size that is good for you.
Jay said it best, brush size doesn’t matter, it only matters how you use it. Well said, well said
I’m kinda new to painting. Known about 40k for a while. But sadly I have built up my pile of shame as a beginner painter. Got the black Templars army box, the space marine side of the indomitus box, Grimaldus, agressors, Bladeguard veterans and the BT castellan and the death guard Christmas box. It’s a lot and will probably take me a year or so. But I’m a painter and not a player… yet. My goal is to paint them up before 10th edition and before the rumoured dark angels models come out as I definitely want to do a DA army

Funnily Enough I was mid way making a E Payment for individual gear parts for Warhammer while listening to this list, then slowly took items off my cart as I was listening. I was also about to commit to a vortex mixer, and by the end of Eon's Video Im just staring at my shelf of shame going... Ohhh...
I'm gonna be honest with you - he's wrong about the mixer. Mostly anyways. Personally, I use a chinesium nail polish mixer combined with a bead for agitation. Works fine for dropper bottles. I wouldn't try a g-dubs pot in one though. The big bottles for primer and the like are too heavy to work well though.
Here's the thing. A decent mixer of some sort both mixes the paint better *and* does if faster *while also* doing it's part to help prevent repetitive stress injuries. To be totally blunt, I have been painting for a lot of years now. When I got the idea to try out an actual mixer, plenty of years after I started, it was night and day. The comfort and speed is very nice. If I'm painting in acrylics tonight, I can just thoroughly mix several paints I'm gonna need for a painting session in the span just a couple of minutes and my hands don't hurt. If I need to mix something later, that's not a problem. I can have it completely mixed up in under a minute.
I find local hobby stores can be a great way to get discount paints. My nearby one has a bin of paints that don't move for next to nothing compared to regular, really good way to expand the paint collection.
Man my local hobby stores are all just terrible frankly. I should look at moving.
@Weaver Games super local can suck sometimes, branch out to your nearest metro area for pickups if possible.
Love my Rosemary and Co brushes, they don't get enough love, great value for a good quality brush. I still use synthetics for most of my work though.
You're my favourite modelling youtuber such a wide variety of content, lots of videos and always interesting
I feel very lucky knowing that my friend loved 40k before I even met him, and now that I do know him, we’re working together on starting out this hobby, which I’m very excited for. 😃
The constant close ups during the "pile of shame" speech reveal the unopened box of Carlos Vasquez and ice dancers... It's hilarious in hindsight
I honestly feel very lucky that I've been verrrrry picky about what factions I like. Has probably been what's kept me from a huge pile of shame.
I just recently got into 40k I've been popping in and out of my local store and just recently got invited but all I have is a box of fire warriors and a box of stealth suites haven't been able to convince my friends to join in
Staring at my dirty cluttered desktop workspace is the greatest source of satisfaction.
10:04 I tried the whole chapest set from amazon and it just wasn't for me... Like day 1 of phscal painting it wasn't for me so I upgraded to Golden maple miniature and Tamyia brushes and love them so yeah sometimes it's best to upgrade.
I see both sides - I don’t want to get overwhelmed in a pile of undone stuff, but I like having a few choices for “what am I painting next?”
Right now, I’ve got a unit of 10 OPR minis I could start, or I could do some one off “burrows & badgers” models for a game nobody really plays here but I just love the models and had a friend who played a while ago, or I could do a one off Templar Marshall.
Your not short of choice when you have yet to buy it.
As a new player, I bought the 2021 Space Marines Battleforce at a second hand place a couple of weeks before they announced the 2022 Battleforces... I didn't know they were an annual thing 🥲 and I bought the Start Collecting Imperial Guard box a month before the Cadia Stands box was announced... 🥲 my pile of shame is almost entirely due to bad timing, I swear 🥲 the thought of buying more models makes me feel physically sick now so that's good I guess...
I like the idea of no pile of shame. But the put things out and take it away too fast and then you miss out on things you would have loved to own.
Cincinnati in the house! Thank you for this video, it's nice to hear somethings I've thought about reinforced by your video. Wanted to kick myself for not taking every day last weekend to read rules but glad I didn't. Chilled on 1 day and came back at rules a day later. Felt refreshed.
Ghost brush is a fantastic work horse brush and they make one's with swelled grips I like for my arthritis
I feel the sudden urge to buy some Star War Legion STAP-Speeder bikes. Curious.
I've had my pile of shame so long there are metal miniatures in it!! Great video!!
The best thing in the hobby is buying things , sneaking it in to the house, avoiding parents or the Mrs . Hidding it in your model stash and never taking them out of the hidding place unless the rest of the family is visiting the grand parents or is on vacations, then you maybe get to assemble a squad or a vehicle
I showed the box of Space Marine Scout Bikes I just bought to my wife, now she keeps bugging me about when I'm going to paint it. 😼
3:31 Yeah I'm a collector and still suck at painting/assembling and I'm fine with unpainted plastic on the shelf(Most of t's faction colors) just not sitting unboxed... I have a small but containted(Mostly) pile of shame that I have not unboxed on camera yet... Which includes the entire game(IE 90% of the new releases) of the new Dystopian Wars... So yeah I'ma going to need to get on that.
I really like my vortex mixer a whole lot, personally, but it's a big time luxury item for sure. It's a very good accessibility improvement if you've got limited mobility or you're just starting to get old and have arthritis, but completely unnecessary if you have the wrist strength to really shake the hell out of a bottle with a mixing BB in it.
That said: Vortex mixers are borderline essential if you have a siphon-feed airbrush, it's way easier to keep your siphon bottles from seizing up and to keep them smoothly mixed without having to open them up to stir them. I know this is a very particular edge-case scenario but my vortex mixer would have paid for itself if I'd gotten it a little sooner, I have thrown out an uncomfortable amount of paint and pigment solutions just because the mix became unworkable/unshakable and don't really have that problem anymore
The pile of shame is a double edged sword. However it is also a part of the hobby. Collecting. It's similar to stamp collecting, you don't have to use them, simply the fact that you have them can be satisfying. This isn't new, consider sealed box collecting. Consider mint condition comics collecting. Collecting items simply to store them, look at them, but not open them or use them, is not unique. It's your money and your collection. You do with it what you want! However, just make sure it doesn't become a "problem" in your life and keep it healthy. If you can do that, who is anyone to tell you to stop ?
I think Jay really likes the speeder bikes from Star Wars Legion.
Excellent vid !
About pile of shame or, as some of my friends call it pile of proud (as if there could be any proud in having kilos of plastics and resin sitting in dusty boxes all around your house xD) I think it's a thing for classic wargames. I started the hobby again with 40k (as everyone else almost) and have had a pile of shame of thousands of points for months, until I realized I HATE playing classic wargames.
I sold everything, and started collecting and playing miniatures for skirmish games (mostly Malifaux in fact) and I have a blast !
I see a crew that I like the gameplay/lore, I buy it (around 15 to 20 models max) I paint them all, and I'm fully satisfied :D This gives a huge feeling of accomplishment, that I never really felt with 40k, as the game is designed to force you into buying these new super strong models, that are nerfed down 2 months after they're out, so you'll never finished them because you're pretty sure you'll never get play them anyway, so why bother ?
Honestly, GW is the lvl 0 of miniatures painting and gaming. There are TONS of games with funnier and better miniatures/gameplay, and that will never encourage you into buying so much plastic you won't ever need....
Jay!!! Let’s see more Malifaux videos.
I don't have a pile of shame, but a box of opportunities. And I decided that there will be no more plastic crack this year. Until a majority of the box is empty. Basically, it's a golden opportunity to improve my painting skillz. It won't stop me from buying more paints😏
I agree.
I'm attempting this. No more new Titans for Adeptus Titanicus until I finish the stuff I've started. We'll see how it goes.
Trying to work through my pile of grey at the moment. I have just started back up in the hobby and I want to have a force for AOS and a force for WH40k so I can start playing games.
There was a board game club at my work some years ago.
Their ad read: "The games we play have no war or conflict."
Never went...
Me: I want new models
Jay, not stopping the car: You have a pile of shame at home
This was one of your best videos!!! So wanting more Staps?? Also Cincinnati of relevance?
I see a lot of new war gamers go hard, too hard buying tons of modeps, paints, special tools and products and quit a few months later. I give all the warnings to slow down and ease into the hobby. I learned this harsh lesson on my own years ago. So. This vid speaks truth.
Gots my vortex for 20 bucks! New in box from yonder ebay. It really does help with paint consistency. Good stuff if y'all find it for cheap.
I have only been painting minis for about a year, and I kept buying D&D minis, which would come in a pack of 2 miniatures, but I would end up only painting one of them. Now I have a bunch of unpainted D&D minis that might never get finished. I’ve also recently gotten into Malifaux and spent a week building the whole Mercenary keyword, but Im definitely going to paint all of those because Malifaux is amazing.
I love your videos!
So much handy!
Ive actually found a fun way to empty out my pike of shame. I just turn most of my leftover models as basing material and bits to improve my other units and armies I’d actually play.
Painy wise i pnlu brought one pot and rest is what came with a starter set for age of sigmar all o use is abadon black and a purple i brought aswell as the skin colors from the set
“Don’t get in on war games alone!”
*Cries in friends only playing 40K*
I git few half build unpainted hellblasters from xmas because its too cold in the uk to prime unless uts like summer
The army painter 3 brush set is reasonable price wise and great imo
Wait @eonsofbattle do you live in the cincinnati area?
