The Necron Royal Court box will always make me laugh at it's absurdity. It released as 5 models for $110...when at the same time you could get the entire Necron half of Indomitus for $90....WTF XD
This, I found it so disappointing building the new boyz realising that without conversion, I had to have it how it comes and with orks I feel like that goes against what the army is about
The way the boyz kit works with the stormboyz and burnas/lootas kits seamlessly was fantastic. The parts also easily converted to be used for bikers as well. I made a great unit of kommandos from mixing all the kits before the cool new Kill Team ones released. I dislike the new boyz kit so much, and want it to go away outside of something like a combat patrol (and I don't even like it there).
@@steelemcc it's bullshit everywhere and nobody really knows why GW have priced them like that, my guess is they hate the mold and would rather not have to make them but can't justify removing them from sale just yet so are just pricing out 99% of players.
Yeah the new Cultist kit breaks my heart. I LOVE how they look, they’re aesthetic is nice balance between scary and crazy. But they are just too damn expensive.
On the subject of Chaos Culists, games workshop for years encouraged conversion and kitbashes from other kits like Necromunda and guard, when traitor guard came out in BSF, I regularly used them as cultist proxies. I don’t think GW minds most conversions as long as it’s their products and GW is such a diverse range where I think it’s possible to have cadian shock troops for Alpha Legion or Orlock gangers as iron warriors. It’s all about fun and flavor IMO.

I'm so damn exited to paint that new Daemon Prince in the Slaves To Darkness set. I plan to get one for every variation when they are available individually.
I started an Ork army after the glow up, with the big beast snaggas release and the commandos (I always loved them, but the old bodies didn't do it for me, I was indeed waiting for a redesign). I got the start collecting and the christmas box (the one with the trike and the plane) and ended up with 4 of the boys kit. I converted them with an old boys kit, together with the old nobz kit, they really give you all the parts you need to make the models all different and actually good looking. You gotta chop the new models at the shoulders and heads, try to be clean so you can reuse some of them on other bodies, together with the ones from the old boyz kit. The old kit has A LOT of wonderful spare parts and little things to make models unique - little note, all new boys have a granade on them, I cut most of them and added in other places for variety, also try to customize shoulder pads and always switch heads. The game changer for me was the nobz kit, because it has 20 shoulder pads to cover the joints (they are big for old standards, they go on perfectly) I mostly used just glue and very little green stuff Now I got 30 boyz with slugga and choppa, plus the one with the big shoota. The total number would be 36 (9 in each box) but I used 5 to make a unit of burnas. You can use the standing poses, cutting at the waist and fuse with the upper bodies from the old burna kit using green stuff, this is a little trickier tho. The only other modification were 1 mm thick 'pads' of green stuff before attaching the arms, as to make them a little bulkier. P.s. I still ended up buying another kit to reach 4 full squads lol Remember the nobz kit? You can use the arms and heads to customize the nob in the new kit, they actually work wonders but you need green stuff again. Overall I am really happy with the result, having to do so much conversion will make you feel like a true ork :D and the old kits are top quality and must buy for sure. The new kit really feels like it should be in a launch box, I completely agree the should make a true hybrid one (and put some bitz ffs, they are orks!)
About Forge World, they still have a purpose as the place to sell ultra-niche models that it doesn’t make sense to make in plastic. Things like Necromunda hangers-ons, Blood Bowl star players and Horus Heresy named characters (at least until HH becomes big enough to support them in plastic. The small scale of resin production allows for some bonkers models with extremely limited application that I doubt would ever be greenlit in plastic, and for games like Necromunda, that is just what you need. But for everything else, yes, Forge World is redundant. I think GW knows that too, when was the last time anything for 40k was released there?
I think Forgeworld also has a place for super detailed models needing an ultra-crisp finish to work. Models with a lot of filligree/embellishment and highly distinct faces still seem like a bit of a challenge to get right using injection molds. At least personally, I feel like I can tell there's quite a difference between ex. a FW resin contemptor (with legion/chapter embellishments) and a standard plastic GW produced model when it comes to the crispness of the details.
@@midnightclad888 they sell stuff because some people want showpiece models as explained in the video, it just sucks that GW won't allow them in their stores ( even if I don't go into them I'd like to have the option at least). GW recuperates their expenses on master molds in 6 months. The packaging costs more than the models themselves. A sprue of Primaris Marines is about 30 cents to manufacture including the materials. The box they go in however... You need to paint a set of the models, photograph them, get the card stock, print the images, laminate them, dye cut them, fold them, glue them, add the upcs to the inventory, pack the bases in plastic, put the product in the box, put the box in a separate sleeve with new art work that had to be commissioned and designed and labeled and photographed and so on so on... And then you have to ship those boxes.
The chaos cultists sprues become less confusing when you realize they just took the existing sprues that came with the Blackstone Fortress game and put that sprue in a stand-alone box with no changes. Why are there 8 cultists? Because that’s how many show up during that encounter in Blackstone. Same reason they’re monopose, they’re more board game pieces than they are 40K models.
A lot of Tau models have that same modulator capabilities. It's a blessing and a curse, but you can get some wicked poses. Especially from Commander models.
Always wondered if something like siocast plastic would make for a better forgeworld experience than resin, guess one issue is that gw wouldn't like being tied to a proprietary system...
I recall another youtuber who owns several saying that the dreadnought you mentioned here only comes with ONE of each weapon, which is why they sell the weapon sprue separately.
It is funny because your well founded issue with monopose making a kit bad is actually a major selling point for me. I have so many models still unpainted and on the sprue because I hate building. Blades make me nervous and I despise plastic glue and sand paper for ADHD sensory reasons. So seeing some cool games workshop model that I just have to snip and paint with minimal building? That sounds like a dream.
The Necron Royal Court and Space Marine Honoured of the Chapter is they are the only ways to get the Indomitus exclusive miniatures. And it's by design. So if you want a Skorpekh Destroyer Lord, or a Primaris Judicar or Bladeguard Ancient your only two options are either buy the way overpriced boxs from GW or see if you can find them on the second hand market. For worst, I feel like flayed ones need a shoutout. All the problems of the cultists, but also only come in a box of 5, so you need to buy twice as many if you want to spam them.
I much prefer the older style of Space Marine backpack and helmets, think they look so much better and the backpacks are way more detailed on the firstborn kits, thenew ones are quite plain while the old had some variation to them making them look more 40K. The new backpacks are also a lot bigger and the connection points dont fit all that well with the older ones, so adding older backpacks make them look pretty weird, wish they at least kept the same connection point system for the backpacks :/
Yeah the Primaris marines all look the same, with pretty much no customisation or personality. Firstborn all had little identifying details, and wat cooler helmets
@@rasmuskock8077yeah, that is exactly what the Primaris are missing. The deathwatch vet kit is an easy 10/10 kit for me. Goes together super well, the waist ball joint isnt super wonky like the old tactical kit, and heaps of options.
The new heresy contemptor is, in my experience, super modular like the redemptor. I personally fucked up building my a little, he leans back a touch to far.
Another bad thing about cultists is, you don't have the option to model them with autoguns. You have to proxy which is annoying imo. I'm using guardsmen but i would like actual cultists
I think you’re wrong about forge world resin. Middle earth SBG models that are made by forge world are fantastic! Insanely detailed! The new Glorfindel model for example is phenomenal and will win GW’s miniature of the year award
I know this is a year old comment, but I reckon the Glorfindel model could easily be cast in GW plastic and have the same detail. Look at the detail on the plastic Tahlia Vedra kit for Age of Sigmar, or the Freeguild Cavaliers.
Even better at multipart muscle with monopose anatomical accuracy than Aberrants are the Rockgut Troggoths. It's an insane kit with dozens of combinations, the trick is that each arm comes with its own back musculature.
The good thing about the primaris marines is that all the bodies are interchangeable, so you have the standard kit, the hell blasters and the assault squad to mix up
Hey the chaos cultists actually have 14 poses but total 10 models 4 of them you can choose between like a lady with a tentacle or not as well as about 6-10 additional heads
I think they should bring indomitus back I wish every edition they do a big box like that at that price that is fairly generic stuff but a good deal on it. I also think it should stay around for the edition or most of it. They often do mono pose stuff and then full coolie kits to give us a massive bundle of mono pose.
I’ve honestly been thinking about buying the Blooded kill team just to make into better looking cultists for my thousand sons (who can’t yet take them as traitor guard like codex csm).
look to the necromunda sets for cultists, theres load sof variety in necromunda gangs, meaning you can find one for basically any CSM asthetic, they have the right type of guns (autoguns and autopisto+melee) they look more rif raf then the more regimented and uniform ACTUAL cultists that gw makes, and (imo at least) they just look better necromunda gangs are great for cultists if i ever want some cultists i am 100% getting the new(ish) sand gang from necromunda also necromunda gang boxes are cheaper then most 40k ones for some reason, 10 troops in 40k will be £30-35, while 10 necromunda gangers is £25
The scion kit is really nice five guys for around 40$ with the ability to make it into a command squad or regular guys with special weapons is really nice
It is a great kit... but it is 40$ for 5 dudes. In the Guard no less. I really think that it should have been split so that you'd have 10 models in total 5 of which could make the Tempestor Prime and command or be just regular Scions. Still works perfectly well for the box they have! Just doesn't waste so much plastic.
With the leviathan dread moving to plastic that leaves only two models on the forgeworld range that I want, the terrax assault drill and the iron circle automata. God I want that drill
If you think the necron royal court suck, remember that the kruleboyz have a model (the shaman) that you really want 2-3 of in your army which can only be obtained through the second and third tier starter boxes. Luckily scalpers overbought dominion so you can pick up the whole box for about the same price as the second tier starter kit
Also; the Necromunda scavves should have made it on this list, because they’re as great as the Sisters/Primaris, while hitting the limitations of the Primaris/Catachan
If there is a new Ork boys kit in the near future I will be very angry. I just finished assembling 40 of them. But I do hope we get new Lootaz, Burnaz, Tank Huntaz and we could really use a nice plastic weird boy.
I knew the new orks were making the list. I was midly frustrated with the ork combat patrol not giving you the option of building one squad of shoota boyz and one of choppa boyz, but i figured the separate box would have more options. Silly me. Also, the old box gave you 11 models, 10 boyz to add to existing squads and a nob to put on a Nobz mob or make some conversions on, or even count as a regular boy, since it's not actually bigger than the boyz themselves. WUT HAF' 'EM DONE WIF ME BOYZ
The only reason the old Ork Boyz kit is still around is likely that it has the Spanner arm in it for two of the loadout builds, and 1 Spanner is a required include for every 4 Lootas. Said arm isn't available in the Loota kit, which is just so, so stupid.
4:43 Agreed, FW needs to take their unreasonable prices and go away. There’s no reason why a vehicle the size of an Ogryn costs as much as a Leman Russ.
Best kits you missed. Aleguzzler gargant. So many variants, so many extra scatter terrain like the gibbet, cow ect. Old Ork boyz: 11 minis with plenty of heavy weapons and can kitbash easy into painboys ect. Unlike it's poor counterpart.
Sisters / Sororitas are the last army I have not yet tried collecting yet. And I really want to start a Sororitas Army. But then they droped Votan on us...... Specially old Squats Generals from the Rogue Trader / 1st edition days in the 1990s. Yeah I'm old...... Deal with it! 😡😁😂😂
Space Marines: Honoured of the Chapter is in a similar place as the Necron Royal Court. Over-priced even by GW standards. There are enough of the models on the secondary market to impact sales. The Eradicators and Blade Guard vets are available separately. This effectively puts the Chaplain, Judiciar and BG Ancient behind a paywall for anyone who missed Indomitus.
Forgeworld should really be for niche, limited run models. With HH 2.0 GW have proven that some smart design decisions allow them to make a lot of kits at lower costs (to them), allowing for less popular game systems getting great plastic kits.
Cryptothralls were good for protecting crypteks, but they changed the rules and that no longer works as well so they arent as useful, they are ok in melee if they are near a cryptek, they get +3 BS/WS and 6 attacks each so 12 Strength 5 attacks at AP -1 which isnt as good vs AoC units.
i dont know what i should think about the sisters of battle. on the one hand i really love their armors when they wear their helmet on the other hand, they just do not seem to have enough helmets on pictures. i really hate that gw sometimes forces u to use a model without helmet. as soon as i notice this, i try to get a helmet from wherever. i even cut apart a 2006 spacemarine just to have a helmet on a primaris. i just cant get over the thought that super space soldiers in super space armor which practice on the worst battlefields do not wear a helmet xd
I'm sure someone has said this, but the Royal Court is a single sprue, that's how it came in Indomitus so they actually can't break them up. I agree its awkward AF but that's why its like that.
I'm really disappointed that there haven't been more focus on the derpiness of GW kits. The 4-track IG transporter and their new tank make no sense for one. There are also a lot of models, particularly of the ghostly undead variety, that are so frail that parts break off at the slightest provocation. Where are the AoS models? A lot of them are very derpy.
i absolutely despise the chosen of mortarion box for death guard, i want to buy a bunch of malignant plague casters but i don’t want the noxious blight bringer or an extra plague marine. why none of these models are related to one another put them in their own boxes
I was disappointed to find out the battle sisters box doesn't come with any multimeltas, which I don't understand bc they can be equipped with them. Why not include all the options.
4:50 i would agree that games workshop is much better than forgeworld but for it to be abolished all the forgeworld kits should be remastered to plastic
Disagreeing with the Leviathan here. Coming more plastic horus heresy stuff is great for your wallet. When they make the legion specific stuff that will be great! I like my legion to look like they are from my legion, and not the same as the next dude's. To me at least that is worth the extra bucks. ( That said till they do make legion specific stuff i will not be digging to deep into horus heresy either ) Primaris i absolutely agree on. Rescently bought a kill team box set, and the primaris marines in there have been a absolute joy to paint.

The "Blooded" kill team should be the benchmark for any chaos cultists kit in terms of options.
Another bad thing about cultists is, you don't have the option to model them with autoguns. You have to proxy which is annoying imo. I'm using guardsmen but i would like actual cultists
In the adeptus sororitas first image, no one can convince me that the bottom right one has the coolest looking pose 2:29
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
The good thing about the primaris marines is that all the bodies are interchangeable, so you have the standard kit, the hell blasters and the assault squad to mix up
redemptor hype, it's genuinely so good.
I’ve honestly been thinking about buying the Blooded kill team just to make into better looking cultists for my thousand sons (who can’t yet take them as traitor guard like codex csm).
look to the necromunda sets for cultists, theres load sof variety in necromunda gangs, meaning you can find one for basically any CSM asthetic, they have the right type of guns (autoguns and autopisto+melee) they look more rif raf then the more regimented and uniform ACTUAL cultists that gw makes, and (imo at least) they just look better
necromunda gangs are great for cultists
if i ever want some cultists i am 100% getting the new(ish) sand gang from necromunda
also necromunda gang boxes are cheaper then most 40k ones for some reason, 10 troops in 40k will be £30-35, while 10 necromunda gangers is £25
All is dust.
Well now 6:35 Forgeworld is gone
this sponso is the best by far. That moment i see the true squat with fluffy balls... that killed me bro ahahahha
@@trzynasty909 true dat i built the regular scions with special weapons. Wouldve preferred it to be 10 dudes or have it seperate
I like how you pronounce Sororitas like Carnitas lol
With the leviathan dread moving to plastic that leaves only two models on the forgeworld range that I want, the terrax assault drill and the iron circle automata. God I want that drill
I got 2 of the shadowspear boxes when they released them. Dont think i ever need more than those 6 suppressors
If I do not have a 3d printer. Can i buy the terrain printed?
“This video is brought to you by Manscaped.”
Jesus, there’s a left turn right out of the gate!
The only reason the old Ork Boyz kit is still around is likely that it has the Spanner arm in it for two of the loadout builds, and 1 Spanner is a required include for every 4 Lootas. Said arm isn't available in the Loota kit, which is just so, so stupid.
I don't know if this counts as a modern kit but i love the blood cauldron kit for daughters of khaine just so many options and such good value
Hi Jay! Could you please include the subtitles in Spanish?; I am starting in the world of WH 40k and I am very interested in your opinions. Thank you!
now i just want some squats so i can trim them, the new ork boyz kit is a travesty honestly, i have no die idea what they were thinking.
These new orcs /orks? do look kind of nice! Surpressors are kind of nice though. I might have to chop and paste some of these surpressors guys.
4:43 Agreed, FW needs to take their unreasonable prices and go away.
There’s no reason why a vehicle the size of an Ogryn costs as much as a Leman Russ.
also the royal court sells at GW for £70... and was also in the imperium mag for £8.99
Best kits you missed.
The more I see the redemptor dreadnought the more I see the invictor war suit
remember in the pox walkers box, you get a free half of a death guard?
The Ork gretchin box is $21, and it comes with 11 minis. How is it not on here
BEST ADS EVER!
"People generally do a bad job" hit me deep in my soul
"Plastic is so much cheaper"
Combat Patrol: Blood Angels
$150
Start Collecting! Astra Militarum
$95
Well, guess I'm poor or something.
Was wondering if you had any interest in doing a Lord of the Rings SBG video anytime soon??
Forgeworld should really be for niche, limited run models. With HH 2.0 GW have proven that some smart design decisions allow them to make a lot of kits at lower costs (to them), allowing for less popular game systems getting great plastic kits.
I love the hybrid new guard models
Cryptothralls were good for protecting crypteks, but they changed the rules and that no longer works as well so they arent as useful, they are ok in melee if they are near a cryptek, they get +3 BS/WS and 6 attacks each so 12 Strength 5 attacks at AP -1 which isnt as good vs AoC units.
If they give the intercessors another sprue with weapon options to get the varied loadouts like the tactical squad has... OMFG would that be good
Looking forward to a Games Workshop Adeptas Sororitas body pillow.
i dont know what i should think about the sisters of battle.
on the one hand i really love their armors when they wear their helmet
on the other hand, they just do not seem to have enough helmets on pictures.
i really hate that gw sometimes forces u to use a model without helmet.
as soon as i notice this, i try to get a helmet from wherever. i even cut apart a 2006 spacemarine just to have a helmet on a primaris.
i just cant get over the thought that super space soldiers in super space armor which practice on the worst battlefields do not wear a helmet xd
Sir, you probably meant that you have a “hypothesis”, not a “theory”.
But, other than that - great material.
Suppressors will probably be an optional build when they release the primaris assault squad
i absolutely despise the chosen of mortarion box for death guard, i want to buy a bunch of malignant plague casters but i don’t want the noxious blight bringer or an extra plague marine. why none of these models are related to one another put them in their own boxes
I was disappointed to find out the battle sisters box doesn't come with any multimeltas, which I don't understand bc they can be equipped with them. Why not include all the options.
I actually have a leviathan dreadnought from forge world and I can confirm it was expensive as hell
I absolutely hated building my Redemptor dreadnoughts. I have 2 and I think I'm going for another, but dread building it.
I see what you did there
4:50 i would agree that games workshop is much better than forgeworld but for it to be abolished all the forgeworld kits should be remastered to plastic
Why no AoS models?
im *fairly* certain that the skorpekh lord was available separately for a bit but i might be hallucinating
Disagreeing with the Leviathan here. Coming more plastic horus heresy stuff is great for your wallet. When they make the legion specific stuff that will be great!
I like my legion to look like they are from my legion, and not the same as the next dude's. To me at least that is worth the extra bucks. ( That said till they do make legion specific stuff i will not be digging to deep into horus heresy either )
Primaris i absolutely agree on. Rescently bought a kill team box set, and the primaris marines in there have been a absolute joy to paint.
