Playing trapsin my first playthru and having a blast. Love sorc, but need an excuse to play something else because 99% of my original D2 playtime was on a sorc.
I've spent the last 3 week plotting out my 1st D2 build in 15 years. I had every skill point, attribute and respec accounted for from Norm A1 to Hell A5 and this video, released 40 minutes before the game drops, changed everything. You bastard. You magnificent bastard. Honestly, I'll still be doing my thing but I can't wait to do THIS thing too. Great build and video, man!
Let me know how you enjoy, still on the fence of wanting to go back, but I always wanted to try out a sass. Sorc was always my main so many years ago xD
Dear Cooley, I am totally blown away by this build. What follows is a short review, because I wanted to thank you for making this video and teaching an old hand with 20 years of D2 experience something new. In all these years I never played an assassin, but this video made me try something new, and I am extremely happy I came across this video and that I tried it out. It is truly amazing. I came across your video when my first sorc was in late nightmare, so I didn't start the launch with it. I was very skeptical to start a character that couldn't teleport (without charges). But as soon as I was finding some gear with my sorc in Hell, I started building this assassin and focused on her. It was a little bit of a learning curve in order to use cloak of shadows, mind blast and the shadow master correctly, but when you master these strategies, and learn to set traps around corners, this build is extremely fun to play and can handle really difficult areas quite easily with very cheap gear. Normal and nightmare was a lot of fun to play through with Wake of Fire, but when I got to Hell I started to run into problems with immunes, so I needed to join groups in order to get me to act 5 hell. However, as most groups consist of cold sorceresses, it was actually very easy to get through the game because of the other types of damage I'm dealing. The build is very powerful, but I think that "being able to easily clear every level 85 area in the game" is an exaggeration (withouth Infinity). In the beginning I was struggling quite a lot with doing chaos runs, and solo Baal runs are still too slow to be viable. However, I have managed to get her to level 89 and I have accumulated some more gear. I would advise anyone to get an assa torch as soon as possible, because this really started moving things forward for me. Now I am running dual spirit, treachery, +3 traps circlet, torch, aldurs boots and chance guards, +3 traps amulet with an Obedience merc, and I am able to easily clear hell chaos sanctuary and kill Diablo, cows, Eldritch. But the best part is doing Nihlathak runs. I have fallen completely in love with doing Nihla runs. I struggled a lot in the beginning, but I memorized the maps and now I use a combination of fast running and teleporting past monster packs, and I consistently do Nihla runs in 1:30 to 2 minutes including shopping for potions and identifying/selling items. Doing this at this speed has proven to be very profitable, because I'm farming around 3-6 Keys of Destruction an hour, and they are bringing in a good profit even in this stage of the launch. Nihla runs are a lot of fun because there are some very strong and challenging monsters (especially Vipers), and of course Nihla's Corpse Explosion. It almost feels like cheating to set up the traps around the corner and letting my exploding traps do all the work, and just to walk in and pick up my loot! I have heard you mention in your videos that the RNG isn't much on your side when MF'ing, and I recognize that too. I am generally not very lucky in games. But farming destruction keys made me relatively rich! So thank you very much for sharing your strategy with us, Cooley. I'm a very experienced sorceress player and it was a great experience to learn a new class and to see what it can do. I would probably start ladder again with a sorc, but I would use her to gear up my assa as soon as possible. I highly recommend giving the assasin a try and listening to what Cooley has to say! All the best of luck of you.
Thank you for writing this out, man! It was a pleasure to read your review! Perhaps "effectively clear any lvl 85 area" would have been a better choice of words, as it is does take some time with certain ones until you get the right gear. So glad you're enjoying it, man! I appreciate hearing that!
ALSO, now in D2R they fixed the bug that caused your Death Sentry to cause less uniques to spawn so now she'll be one of the best for area farming too like Chaos
I went back to my single player trapper the other day, players 8 cows, jesus I laughed my arse off, once that first couple of cows dies, kaboom, so much fun, reminds of that jade harvester build on d3
I like how everyones just now figuring out these underrated OP builds on D2. Shoulda been there 20 years ago kids when the poison necro ruled all pvp servers
Same, trap sin one of the funnest to play as, for me at least. I didn't play it much but when I was able to get some really good gear for it way back in the day it was really fun
You can also transition to a kicker and take down ubers with relatively budget gear. Not as easily as a smiter but long before you could afford to be teleporting and whirlwinding around with that spider build. Enjoy! ;)
Sweet tutorials man! Playing this build, i've come to find this; A nice substitute for the lore helm is the peasant crown war hat. I accidently found one in Nightmare cloister the other day, wonderful stats on this gem, +1 to all skills, +15% walk speed, +20 vitality & energy, + 10 replenish life, and 108 armor. Awesome drop to get while running through the area for the first time :D
I had to give the credit where credit is due. I stumbled upon this guide randomly a week ago, I ran an assassin and I'm having a time of my life. I was so bored and lazy when I did a necro but when I ran this. I'm so amazed.
Agree, Trapassins are hella strong. Also, you forgot to mention "1 Skill Point Wonder" into Fade. Sure you lose Burst of Speed while you use fade, but if you really need resists(It's also has a bit of DR too) for early Hell, I think it's more than worth the speed buff loss until you get better gear.
I've recently started doing solo Baal runs with her and once I hit lvl 91, I finally did put a point into that. Not worth the risk at that point of getting ganked by souls with your tele staff out!
SO much fun man. LIke he said... it clears fast. I'm going hammerdin just because I like the visual of it now even more! Quite literally was one of the first people playing hammerdin back in the day too so there is that lol!
Thanks for the video Cooley. I've been ladder starting and playing sin for over a decade now and I'm glad to see her get the attention she deserves. From personal experience, I recommend NM Baal as your first boss farm as she's one of the top solo Baalers. Then I transition into purely Pindle until I can afford Enigma, then the world is your oyster. I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone has for sin, I've played it all and I've played it for years 😂 Trapper, Kicksin, Ghostsin, Hybrid LS/WW, and even multiple Bowsins
@@skitzum5005 The death sentry procs Corpse Explosion for beautiful AoE damage. You only use 1 because it has lower damage than the Lightning Sentry and 1 is enough to proc the CE's at a different pace. Its also important to note that the Death should be placed a bit farther from the mobs or else it won't proc the CE. Close = lightning, far = CE
@@skitzum5005 Once you get Enigma, all the standard MF areas apply. Personally, my progression has always been NM Baal -> Hell Pindle/Eldritch (you can add Shenk as you get gear, the big problem is the Archers wreck your shit, so just experiment as you keep gearing up). Once you have Enigma, Andy/Meph/Key runs are all doable. I think worth mentioning is Pit and Ancient Tunnels now that they fixed the MF bug for trapsins. I haven't tested this at all. The key thing is do what keeps you entertained. Some people can't stand Pindle/Eldritch/Shenk so maybe you'd prefer Pit/Tunnels. Some people can't stand doing only Pit/Tunnels so maybe do all 5, or Andy/Meph
I can concur and add that the Assassin trapsin build with Death Sentry is by far the best class to start out with. I have tried Hammerdin, Ele Druid and Sorc all to level 71 with some mid game gear and have troubles in Hell Act 1 and 2. I found this video and tried out an Assassin with Death Sentry and I'm now into Act 3 at lvl 72 and have no issues with bosses or mobs. Assassin is by far the best class to get going. Thank you for the video otherwise I never would have tried Assassin out.
Love this Guide, i keep coming back to it. I wish there were more way to access corpse explosion, Corpsemourn should have a 10% chance to cast on striking or something. Great Vid!
I’ve chosen you to be my go too guy for d2r when it comes out today. Love the straight forward easy to understand information you give, other people tend to use too many acronyms for stuff I don’t understand. Subbed
BRO. Thank you. I played d2 the first day it came out with my buddy back in the day. It hooked me in so badly lol. Eventually when the cow time came... I can still hear my dad walking by going "moo moo, moo moo moo" haha. HE was soooooo annoyed by it. Then I recall this special moment. I was the lower rank player in my group... and I started theory crafting with the assassin and started putting together this build in single player. It was at that time... I became a higher ranked player in the group haha! Great stuff brother. Cheers to 20 years and launch today! Can't wait to duel in Hardcore! Gonna be a few months though haha.
So pumped for tomorrow! I’m locking myself in the basement with food and water for 5 days. Headphones loud enough to drown out the wife and kids undoubtably clawing at the door. All itching to bust down the blast door to hand me next honeydew list. Just hope I can get to hell Mephisto in time
And then, back in reality, you probably install, play for an hour before your wife calls you to come and have dinner, after that you play a little more before she commands you to bed and maybe you get another 20 mins in, before you head back to your bad paid job and then back home to start it all over again..
GREAT vid man. I have been a die hard Sorc starter for a long time. Just rolled a sin and I already feel the potential of this class. Looks like you've got a convert.
Nice build, I never really went with assassin because I always found her a bit boring just laying traps, but with mind blast and fire blast to mix things up with, I think this will be my second character for sure
It's pretty broken honestly, fire, lightning and physical damage so you can kill them all, some with setup. Mindblast to stun/ convert enemies and watch traps crap on them
you have one of the most in-depth videos between this one and the last spider build video for the assassin. The assassin is my most played character and I rarely see people hit every nail on the head.
It’s awesome you touched on skills and some gear points… but what about stat placement and merc options? I assume either the meditation act 2 one for mana help in nightmare.
Consider making an Insight runeword in a low tier polearm. Your merc will be able to use it at lvl 27 and a high meditation aura (max 17) will fix any mana problems.
My friends want me to play this game and they recommended me this specific character to learn how to play, very good video, it helped me a little to understand
For the first time in my D2 experience, I made a trapsin as a first char (my first trapsin ever also) because of this video, and I can only advise you to do the same !! The survivability is much higher than a sorc and the dps is really solid, especially against big packs of mobs (cows, chaos). It can be a little bit tideous at start when you dont have enigma, it gets annoying to swap from lower resist to teleport, to have to repair every 2-3 runs, to keep items to get some gold, but once you're past that, it's just a delight... Made my Enigma a few days ago and man, it's fucking amazing, you can farm pretty much everywhere, Nilha is ez as fuck, chaos same thing (and it's not half as scary as it is with a sorc), same thing for baal... Enjoy the game so fucking much and looking forward to make my infinity to be even more imba :D TLDR : amazing guide, follow it people ;)
i didn't bother to get lower resist wand... used tele staff only to get to nithla, running on foot: chaos, baal, cows, countess, summoner, pits skipped totaly before getting eni: meph, andy, duriel now as i thing of it, i could probably get that wand and swap it in, after killing nithla, and continue run with it, but w/e
this char has been going GREAT for me and i dont give two shits bout no lower resist wand or never cared about no tele staff....its been one of the most OP lvling builds ive ever experienced..i go gull dagger and dirk diggler dagger for first 19 lvls then switch to leaf and on the armor either twtich or stealth...i feel twitch is better for traps...and im owning either bt myself leveling and questing online or in players 8 games leveling and questing ...at the end of normal when u start doing baal runs find urself a good spirit sword after level 25 and you will be good enough all the way till u switch to death sentery and ur end game assassin build! i tried this thanks to cooley and its been one of the funnest builds for me and ive done all characters already now in d2r
I couldn't sleep one night and came upon this video... Now I have a lvl 75 assassin, the best class for me yet. Mind blast is like music to my ears. Now I am MFing for PVP end game build. Thank you.
One word though: teleport. I know it’s trivial but it just makes so much diff once you start doing boss runs. But I agree Trapsin is the easiest carry build in the game, but it’s not faster where it matters compared to blizz sorc
As someone who's not a big time gamer, I had no idea how to use the assassin. I put everything into burst of speed, shadow, cobra strike, and most of all, Phoenix strike. All of that seemed to be the most effective to deal a lot of damage to the enemies. Then at the end of nightmare act IV I don't stand much of a chance. I redid my stats and skill points and I was able to tear through those enemies so fast! Now I can burn through act V and hopefully get through hell mode
If you're still playing then yes, you'll be able to do fine in hell. But I recommend only 1 in fireblast, 1 in blades, and 17+ in shadowmaster. I explained why in another comment. Also of course you'll want an insight on your merc. Treachery or smoke are good armor runeword choices I think he doesn't mention. If you play HC other good choices are anything that increases survivability against the few things that can maybe get to you (like Nihl's CE, fast-moving exploding dolls, or fanatic extra fast archer mobs). These are anything that adds % physical damage reduction (like string of ears, shaftstop, shako, Natalya's set, and many more); anything that increases max res (Iratha's, hotspurs or infernostrides, and a few other things); and anything that adds magic absorb (twin spirits plus jewelry). Blocking is also important and you can use rhyme, ancient's pledge, a ward shield, but a spirit is probably best unless MDfing (then use rhyme). There are also some great katars with res and + stats, but I prefer twin spirits whenever possible. A trapsin's gear is pretty much whatever a sorc would use - skin of the vipermagi, etc. - except IAS is more important than FCR. But you can find enough IAS on plenty of gloves (plus helmets and amulets) to be fine. IAS impacts traps, and FCR mindblast and smoke.
I just don't like the trap assassin play style, but Cooley you did recommend a frozen orb & firewall sorc in another video and I've never tried that so I'm starting with that! Sounds like it would be good for immunities.
played Diablo 2 back in the days, made assassin from your guide, gotta tell u, - THANK U very much! really fun to play it, i finished 5 acts in 8 hours of play, tons of fun, and very easy to play, recommend it to all, cheers ;)
Cooley, can you do a video or vlog about character progression on ladder? my issue is that i usually make a char, get to 80 or so and it feels like i hit a wall in terms of what to do, what to prioritize and what not. i usually play a week then quit because i have no idea how to get to enigma or hoto in any reasonable amount of time. this would be an awesome set of videos id love to see, you always have great videos. also congrats on 21 k subs! lots of growth on the channel, love to see it
The key is keep farming. Early ladder bugged Andy or meph are good places to get your staple mf gear or some trade bait. Once you got some solid mf and decent clear speed you typically want to hit up lvl85 zones (pits/ancient tunnels are easier but chaos is good too) or cows. Cows is especially good if you are farming specifically for runes as you have lots of stuff to kill. Also good for farming runeword based which you can also trade. Early on 4os monarchs are worth quite a bit. You can also farm keys/torches and trade those. Key sets are going to be valuable even if you can't do Ubers yet yourself, but you should as farming keys is harder than Ubers themselves imo.
I remember being 10-12 years old using my op ass enigma trap sin vs hell Baal as my 19 year old brother was getting absolutely shit on as a necro anywhere he went in hell.... guess I was lucky picking a build 🤣 I’d like to thank the dude that gave me a free enigma, real ass dude of the century.
This time around I may be playing casually enough to be ok with not mfing as fast as humanly possible. I've always wanted to play assassin and druid back in the day so I guess it's now or never.
@@sixmillionsilencedaccounts3517 Yeah that's the problem, as soon as you put teleport in the balance, it sways heavily towards sorc no matter what arguments you make for the other side.
@@sehk7075 That's a good point. If clearing the game is the objective I could see arguments against the sorc but if we're talking about collecting gear/wealth sorc is unbeatable with targeted farming early on.
Since you didn't mention it in your vid, what do you think of kicksin? I've heard that it's one of the few char that can solo ubers without too much stuff, and I know it's great against boss. I don't know for cows and the like though, but it's often used with maxed death sentry because you're good at killing a single target. Or just throwing frozen orbs with a rift scepter
I just beat Nightmare with my hardcore kicksin and it's pretty great! With burst-of-speed and venom the damage to single targets becomes insane, not that that even matters much if you have some crushing-blow items equipped.
Venom Shredder Assassin build with Cloak of Shadows, usually go for 2H weapons. D2R mechanics with Blade fury is epic. Cloak of shadows reduce % enemy defence stops casters and summoners for up to 28 secs, just stand there waiting for you to take them out from afar. Get to close and swap to either shield 1H or do a dual claw blocker.
exactly. nothing can compete with the high damage, low gear and teleport combination. If she would need all here gear, like a melee so she could not use much MF it would maybe a reason to reconsider. But atm, you cant beat the sorc
In HC at least the assassin is better. Sin deals 3 damage types (light, fire, physical) plus can have a level 20+ shadowmaster and can use 1 point blades to proc crushing blow (functioning much like a ranged static field). Plus mindblast and smokescreen. Sin can kill bosses without ever having seen them. And she can just run past and ignore mobs with mindblast and smoke, reducing the need for teleport. Unlike sorc, sin is completely viable for play, using only found items, all the way up to Hell Baal, without need for infinity or any other high runewords (grinding LK into monotony).
I may still do the sorc first because of teleport, but you've convinced me to make this my #2 build absolutely. And depending on how much I enjoy it as I build both up, the assassin may very well take over. I ultimately want to transition to a Riftasin as one of my end game builds, so this just makes that reality happen sooner. Thanks for the vids, you're one of my favorite youtube creators now, for sure!
Don’t tell them! Leave the secret to us! I have been a long time fan of the sin class and it is ALWAYS my go to in a new ladder, etc. they’re more challenging than other classes to use but when you master them, they are just power house beasts
100% agree. My assassin is in her early 50's and i use lore, stealth, rhyme and spirit sword. She is in nm act 3 and the last time she died was level 22 fighting Baal in normal. just place traps then run enemies into them.
I love your channel man. So much personality. That's what it's about. I don't want a cookie cutter build. I'm an old skool D2 player and I'm going to just follow my f@&king heart and make my char how I want. I'm not going to race to get items, farm etc, I'm going to enjoy every bit of D2R as I go. Already purchased and installed. LET'S GOOOO!!!!!!!!
Trapssin will be strong and fun for sure but she will be no match for a hammadin. Hammadin is the best possible build and i dont think its even close. But summoner, trapssin, wind druid and blizzard sorc would be next fighting for top 2-5.
I remember playing a clawsin build of my own design back in LoD, but I didn’t know much about builds back then., I’ve started D2R down that same path as a casual, got into the barracks, and then swapped to Sorcress after watching a video by Raxx on tips for newbies … but after watching this I’m going to hit Akara up for that free respec and try TrapSin now, thanks!!
I saw several vids about blizzard sorceres being best starter ... , i commented on Llamas vid that for budget hc i would actually prefer a trapsin . You know its legit when Coooley mentions it in his vids 😉😉😉 Thx Coooley, love your unique content!
Great video that is clear and concise! Just getting back into D2 resurrected and this build is great! I still do the occasional claw based attack on Act 4 Azrael where I do cobra, tiger strikes then kick him. Very satisfying not having to continually run away from him.
This vid is awesome. Subbed. Starting as the sorc for many years has gotten a bit stale, I'm gonna try something new with the assassin. Any idea when the ladder is going to start?
This is all great advice except I'd make a couple minor adjustments. Here's what my trapsin build always looks like >> 20 shockweb 20 charged bolt sentry 20 lightning sentry 20 death sentry 20 shadowmaster 1 fade 1 mindblast 1 each pre-req 1 BLADE This leaves 1 point leftover which you can put in blades. Or you can take just 19 in shadowmaster to put 1 in blades and 1 in venom. The purpose of blades isn't so much to do damage from the blades themselves as to proc other abilities from range, including crushing blow, open wounds, cast on striking skills, and venom. You can draw off another two points from shadowmaster to get 1 point in each of the other blade skills for synergies, but I don't generally do that. ONLY 1 FIREBLAST Why no fireblast? Because death sentry already does way more fire damage, there's no need to increase it's shot number, and because having a much tougher shadowmaster acting as tank is invaluable. The master will also use her own powers rather than, like the warrior, just half-strength versions of yours. She can lay fire traps, deliver cold damage with phoenix strikes, use power ups and finishing moves, and even use her own death sentries. Maxed out she can basically take out superuniques in A5 Hell mode all by herself, while you just stand and watch. This is all way better than fireblast. Maxing a level 30 skill is, unsurprisingly, far better than maxing a level 1 skill. She leaves you free to think and evaluate the situation more, mindblast less, shockweb more, reposition traps, smoke, or even just loot.
I'm not sure why Diablo 2 content started being suggested to me by UA-cam, but given that I'm super hyped for the Remaster, I won't complain xD Helps that it's about my favourite class from years ago
Absolutely agreed. Fav class in almost any game outside of a really niche game. Plus shes way safer against some of that older netcode and whatever ails we have awaiting us in that arena.
A good buff to Assassin in D2:R (aside from the obvious traps not sabotaging your elite spawns) is that Pindle can be run infinitely. Even without wanting to use a Teleport staff, there's still a reliable boss that Assassin excels at right there.
Nice video. One question: for late game gear, you showed us a fury and chaos claw. Surely this is only for pvp? Or would you prefer fury&chaos over hoto&spirit for pve?
was doing an Assassin but your video told be how to level it so well ! was about to go kicksin then swap into lightning trap in nm , but ill try that fire path , thanks!
Great vid! Definitely going to give this a go when I finally get some time off of work. What are the attribute points supposed to look like along the way?
i was debating trap assassin because it's my favorite cow farm class. but thinking of getting hell done early on is a big gamble imo. On the other side an orb sorc for countess/andy/meph/keyfarm is probably my go to. (trap sin will most likely be my 2nd caracter followed my a hammerdin) Can't wait to play. nice video btw its a good refresh :)
Excellent mate ! I'm going this class for my first play through on this game now. Was going the sorceress but this looks like a good build to follow cheers .
Why do you take fury and chaos when relying on traps, aren't trap claws better or do I oversee something? :) Nice guide I love it. Trapsin is my all time favourite character
This build is awesome. Didn't play the game in the past. Just finished normal mode and starting nightmare. Question :Do you continue with the traps after you switch to spider? Where should I focus my points and is there a D2 planner guide? Thanks again for this great build.
20 shockweb 20 charged bolt sentry 20 lightning sentry 20 death sentry 20 shadowmaster 1 fade 1 mindblast 1 each pre-req 1 blade (to proc other abilities) See my other comments for a full explanation of why to invest in shadowmaster rather than fireblast. Work your shadowmaster and death sentry up at about equal levels ... so 10 death sentry and 10 shadowmaster, then 15/15, etc.
I feel as long as its still in the game another cool feature is after Clvl 60 in nightmare you can shop at vendors for +3 trap skills claws and get +6 trap skills fairly cheap and easy to get rolling

Dear Cooley,
I am totally blown away by this build.
Good to remind also regarding teleport/LR charges, you can ort+chip gem those charges back to full
ALSO, now in D2R they fixed the bug that caused your Death Sentry to cause less uniques to spawn so now she'll be one of the best for area farming too like Chaos
Good point!
I went back to my single player trapper the other day, players 8 cows, jesus I laughed my arse off, once that first couple of cows dies, kaboom, so much fun, reminds of that jade harvester build on d3

How is it going?

You can also transition to a kicker and take down ubers with relatively budget gear. Not as easily as a smiter but long before you could afford to be teleporting and whirlwinding around with that spider build. Enjoy! ;)
@@whodeyfps478 gonna be playing with my wife so I thought it'd be kinda fun to play through as her "support" since it's her first time
Shes so good
Sweet tutorials man!
Playing this build, i've come to find this;
A nice substitute for the lore helm is the peasant crown war hat.
This video made me strongly consider using the assassin, I don't think I made this class once during my 8 year span of D2 back in the day. Kudos!
I built one 2 months back (PD2) for the 1st time in my 15+years and I loved it! Worth the try for sure
Me neither and I will start with it today!
SO much fun man. LIke he said... it clears fast. I'm going hammerdin just because I like the visual of it now even more! Quite literally was one of the first people playing hammerdin back in the day too so there is that lol!
I was always a Pali I just made an assassin lol
Now you can do it in ugly and woke-approved!
I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone has for sin, I've played it all and I've played it for years 😂
Trapper, Kicksin, Ghostsin, Hybrid LS/WW, and even multiple Bowsins
Definitely my least played class. Why use 4x lightning sentry and 1x death sentry?
@@skitzum5005 The death sentry procs Corpse Explosion for beautiful AoE damage. You only use 1 because it has lower damage than the Lightning Sentry and 1 is enough to proc the CE's at a different pace. Its also important to note that the Death should be placed a bit farther from the mobs or else it won't proc the CE. Close = lightning, far = CE
@@AiR1DaN Very cool. What are the best areas for MF for a trapsin in hell? Was planning meteorb but may pivot last second.
Err… No class, Let me say that again…NO CLASS is a better Baal runner than a Hammerdin with Enigma and HOtO.
Thank you for the video otherwise I never would have tried Assassin out.
if you find enough Ort runes you could repair the teleport weapon also in the cube as far as i remember.
i will Start D2:R with a Assassin for sure ✌
Yes.
Sadly it’s even worse than that. But we can dream
damn bro you really make marriage sound worth it. and isn't it honeydo list cause she's ordering you to do shit for her and saying it's "for us"?
Marry a girl who loves gaming as much as you do boys. Not all that hard :P
Enjoy the game so fucking much and looking forward to make my infinity to be even more imba :D TLDR : amazing guide, follow it people ;)
i didn't bother to get lower resist wand... used tele staff only to get to nithla, running on foot: chaos, baal, cows, countess, summoner, pits
skipped totaly before getting eni: meph, andy, duriel
now as i thing of it, i could probably get that wand and swap it in, after killing nithla, and continue run with it, but w/e
this char has been going GREAT for me and i dont give two shits bout no lower resist wand or never cared about no tele staff....its been one of the most OP lvling builds ive ever experienced..i go gull dagger and dirk diggler dagger for first 19 lvls then switch to leaf and on the armor either twtich or stealth...i feel twitch is better for traps...and im owning either bt myself leveling and questing online or in players 8 games leveling and questing ...at the end of normal when u start doing baal runs find urself a good spirit sword after level 25 and you will be good enough all the way till u switch to death sentery and ur end game assassin build! i tried this thanks to cooley and its been one of the funnest builds for me and ive done all characters already now in d2r
I couldn't sleep one night and came upon this video... Now I have a lvl 75 assassin, the best class for me yet. Mind blast is like music to my ears. Now I am MFing for PVP end game build. Thank you.
Had to stop as soon as you said changes act 4 nightmare. I’ve never made an assassin and look forward to finding out for myself solo self found run
That's part of the fun, imo! Good luck tomorrow!
Thanks for this video! What about stat distribution?
One word though: teleport.
I know it’s trivial but it just makes so much diff once you start doing boss runs. But I agree Trapsin is the easiest carry build in the game, but it’s not faster where it matters compared to blizz sorc
He uses a teleport staff. Which imo was a GREAT tech on any character not a sorc until you hit Enigma.
three words: teleport charges staff
2 words: Repair items.
Which is done often anyways right?
@@tanuj4561 I was replying to JARY who said "One word though: teleport."
Couple word: ort rune to repair teleport staff
Lol. Gear requirements.
It's not for everyone. It's a very passive play.. useful for casuals like me.
played Diablo 2 back in the days,
made assassin from your guide, gotta tell u, - THANK U very much!
really fun to play it, i finished 5 acts in 8 hours of play, tons of fun, and very easy to play,
recommend it to all, cheers ;)
Cooley, can you do a video or vlog about character progression on ladder? my issue is that i usually make a char, get to 80 or so and it feels like i hit a wall in terms of what to do, what to prioritize and what not. i usually play a week then quit because i have no idea how to get to enigma or hoto in any reasonable amount of time. this would be an awesome set of videos id love to see, you always have great videos.
also congrats on 21 k subs! lots of growth on the channel, love to see it
Thank you so much, man! My plan is to try to "get rich quick" in D2R. Hoping to document the experience!
@@Stavroization Pretty sure they fix bugged andy.
@@zelphermm Quest bugging Andy still worked as of open beta. I thought developers said they were leaving it.
@@Stavroization essentially yeah. If you are finding meph and Andy to hard. NM meph or mm cows is a good place to get started with.

Sorc wins, Tele is just too OP.
@@bravepotatoe7513 diversifying damage could be a good one, its anoying to avoid some bossess as sorc.. (travincal, countess, etc)
@@sehk7075 That's a good point. If clearing the game is the objective I could see arguments against the sorc but if we're talking about collecting gear/wealth sorc is unbeatable with targeted farming early on.
Slick intro & great explainer!
What kind of stat allocation do you use for the early / midgame build?
100% vitality
Thank you Cooley for making me love the assassin. It's now my favorite and pretty much the only one I use for pure fun
Best starter would always be sorceress in my opinion due to the teleport skill for farming.
True. Sorc will always be the best starter for Mf'ing/farming. Second would prob be something that you can use to Uber/Dclone
exactly. nothing can compete with the high damage, low gear and teleport combination.
Ye, but Asin can move faster than any other class.
Don’t tell them! Leave the secret to us! I have been a long time fan of the sin class and it is ALWAYS my go to in a new ladder, etc. they’re more challenging than other classes to use but when you master them, they are just power house beasts

Trapssin will be strong and fun for sure but she will be no match for a hammadin. Hammadin is the best possible build and i dont think its even close. But summoner, trapssin, wind druid and blizzard sorc would be next fighting for top 2-5.

Assassin has always been my fav char follow by Druid since the release of LOD... im sure gonna try this out when i get my hands on D2R
have not started with assasin before. it was always sorceress. this video may be the reason i get D2R and play again.
This is all great advice except I'd make a couple minor adjustments. Here's what my trapsin build always looks like >>
20 shockweb
20 charged bolt sentry
20 lightning sentry
20 death sentry
20 shadowmaster
1 fade
1 mindblast
1 each pre-req
1 BLADE
This leaves 1 point leftover which you can put in blades.
ONLY 1 FIREBLAST
Why no fireblast?
Light sorc is the most efficient but hey , we've been doing that for 20 years now. It's time to get over that and have some fun
With end-game gear, she is for sure. But early on, she blows compared to other builds. Once I started running Sin on resets, I never went back lol
@@Coooley I was just saying we don't haft play by the rules anymore time for some change I agree with you and your choice

Helps that it's about my favourite class from years ago
Absolutely agreed. Fav class in almost any game outside of a really niche game. Plus shes way safer against some of that older netcode and whatever ails we have awaiting us in that arena.
Great build, what about the attributes though?
this made me rethink my choice of first character.. good job!
A good buff to Assassin in D2:R (aside from the obvious traps not sabotaging your elite spawns) is that Pindle can be run infinitely. Even without wanting to use a Teleport staff, there's still a reliable boss that Assassin excels at right there.
Exactly. Even without telestaff, so many classes get a lot better w/o Realm Downs
i farmed him a lot and with this build you are right, very easy, fast take down, even with all mf gear not leveling gear equipped
Nice video. One question: for late game gear, you showed us a fury and chaos claw. Surely this is only for pvp? Or would you prefer fury&chaos over hoto&spirit for pve?
I would prefer dual claw because of weapon block. It's so OP

This build is crazy fun. Carrying whole groups through normal on hardcore
Trap sin was my first ever build and is by far my favorite. I've always wanted to build a ww sin but never for the claws for it
i was debating trap assassin because it's my favorite cow farm class. but thinking of getting hell done early on is a big gamble imo. See my other comments for a full explanation of why to invest in shadowmaster rather than fireblast.
Easy is not the word I would use.
It would take days of boring shopping instead of actually playing the game.
