I don't see that many tutorials on the camera. Could you do a video on how to use the camera on the Mira? Thanks

Your videos are so helpful. I just got my Mira 7s, no sticky tape on the targets. 😩 and having a real hard time finding machine specific help. The 7s has these black baffles along the side and idk where to start the alignment process. So frustrated

Thank you so much for taking the time to share that. I'm glad the videos are helpful. Do you have the new redline? If so, if you have a glass tube, you really shouldn't need to align it. :)

Yes. Brand new Mira 7s redline. I read I shouldn’t have to align it, but figured it’d be good to learn how to do it. Your slop explanation helped a lot too. I got that message on my first attempt at sending the test file over. Then got the message “not enough extend space” and then gave up for the day.
      Thank you for the reply.

I don't see a link to the Aeon instructions you mentioned in the video. Do you have a link for that?

What made you get a Mira 5 instead of a bigger nova?

Does this one have a Camera that shows the actual bed , like the glowforge ?

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  2 роки тому +1

I don’t use the camera. It’s not necessary. But to answer your question, no, the Mira 5 doesn’t have a camera like the Glowforge but she’s also 3-4x faster. The Mira 7 and 9 do have cameras.

I have a Mira 7. I like it, but some of the design decisions are infuriating and really need to be improved:
    1. The passthrought door: The lid close below the focus/bed height. So if you want to engrave something bigger, you need to jam something in the lid to keep it slighly ajar. Otherwise the lid will push down against your piece and lift the inside end upward.
    2. There is a ton of wasted space. Yes, it's great for maintenance, but simply moving the bottom motor to one of the side would free about 2 inches of the vertical enveloppe.
    3. The external air compressor plug is a dummy. There is no 2 way valve inside. You need to manually unplug the internal compressor hose and plug it in the external outlet. Adding a pneumatic 2way valve with a control switch is a complicated ordeal I expected to be implemented in a unit at that price point.
    4. No real passthrough (but the machine contains the cooler, compressor and exhaust fan, so that one get's a pass, although it would be possible to have a passthrough if they designed the machine a bit better.
    5. The closed gantry say it collect 80% less dust, I believe that claim... but how the heck are we supposed to service that when the time comes? I expected the top of the gantry to be removable, but it does not seem possible.
    6. The piece attaching the lense and cabling to the gantry is ferous metal. So if you have strong magnets holding your piece down, they will jump and attach themselve to that part. Should be aluminum.
    7. The lid glass does not filter the same spectrum as the co2 laser emits. The laser emit 10.6um, the lid only filters around 8um.
    7. The wifi is useless. If you want to use it, you need for your computer to connect to the laser's wifi. The laser can't connect to your wifi unless you get a PiBridge.
    8. I have no use for it, but know that the rotary plug is not standard.
    9. The camera is USB only, you can't connect over network. We use multiple desktop computers, the camera is essentially useless.
    10. If you use a LAN connection, make sure to physically unplug the wifi's rj45 cable or the two interface will fight for the same IP and the connection won't work half the time. (Very stable once the "wifi" is disconnected tho)
    11. The wire belt behind the gantry could be designed over the gantry and save 4" on the Y axis of the enveloppe.
    12. I want a Ruida control panel with an AutoFocus button so I don't have to scroll 10 settings down everytime. (I managed my focus in Lightburn, so I use the autofocus for every job)

Thanks for chiming in. Sounds like you have an older model as many of the things you've mentioned have been upgraded or even enhanced. If you're ever in Melbourne, FL be sure to pop in and check out all the new stuff!
