- This video will be about how to use the newly launched NCMC Card in Mumbai’s Metros.
So what is NCMC Exactly?
The abbreviation stands for Nation Common Mobility Card, and as the name suggests, it is a common card that can be used in all public transport modes all over India. Just won’t be the metro, but also Buses trains Monorails, trams, ferries, also in the future the RRTS, and Bullet trains.
You can clearly use the NCMC card on Line 1 stations along with Line 2A and 7, making the interchange process seamless. Using Mumbai 1 NCMC offers you 5% discount on MMRDA Lines. You can even use BEST’s NCMC or NMMT’s NCMC in metros, and also Metro’s NCMC in Buses.

Saurabh your video was so amazingly explained in detail that I am convinced to get a NCMC card, even though i dont travel to the western suburbs 😂
this would be most benefited for use in buses, since the conductor almost never have the change when it comes to giving to us but they always want exact change.
If u travel in BEST Buses , then you can use their CHALO CARD , just add some amount in it and instead of paying cash you can use this card just give this card to conductor, he will swipe it, that's it
@@soham8208 If you have this metro's NCMC then no need to buy Chalo card seperately. NCMC cards also work in buses.
@@soham8208 if you watch from 4:18 you can see he is using Best's Chalo card as it is also a form of NCMC card, So existing Chalo card will also work

More info on the NCMC:
*Currently, you can top-up the NCMC online from the SBI portal, but thereafter you need to visit the ticket counter to load the amount into your card balance.*
It is silly but true! I did an online top-up last night via UPI but the amount did not reflect in my card at the AFC gates. When I called the call centre mentioned in the welcome kit I was told that additionally I have to also go the ticket counter to load the balance. I re-confirmed this info at the ticket counter. They took my card, checked for my top-up in the system, and then loaded the balance on it. Once I did that the balance started reflecting correctly at the AFC gates.
Is this still applicable? Or does it get updated online now ?
@@dfdfernandes4732 It was still applicable until 6 months ago. Haven't done an online recharge for my NCMC since Aug 2023.

Just a crucial information guys: I have got this card today from DN nagar metro station, and it took a hell lot of time to do the process, because when its your turn to submit the form and get the card, the system actually sends out an OTP to the mobile number mentioned in the form submitted by you, and most of the times, this OTP will take 10-15mins to arrive (only if you are having a lucky day it will take 1min to arrive :D).

Yeah, even i experienced that at Gundavli, it took a long time, like 25 mins, eventually the person at the ticket counter directed me at the customer care counter where they finally processed it, but it was done.
Luckily my processes was completed in 5 mins

Allowing an nfc based smartphone instead of a card is much more comfortable. I hope they also release an app that will allow travellers to just tap and pay using their smartphones.
Even currently you can tap your smartphone on AFC Gates, just that the QR code that the Ticketing App gives, needs to be displayed on your screen.
Which allows NFC like operation even to Non NFC phones.
Not all phones have NFC but phone based QR code will work on any smart phone
I have noticed people using only their phones to tap and pay in Singapore. Also any credit/debit card with pay wave( tap and pay) works on the metro gates. I think it's very easy to impliment these in all Mumbai lines considering they already use tap and pay for ncmc cards.

Took the ncmc card this morning.
A bit tedious process as we need to first fill an online form then the executive filled the form offline.
I was watching the video so carefully and suddenly at 5:36.. Lol. 🤣😂

This would be like Japanese Suica card… since it is a rupay prepaid card too, in addition to transport services, it should also work to pay for all sort of shopping online/offline

This was an informative video. Just some additional info from my end, that the ticket vending machines (TVMs) do not accept NCMC even though it is mentioned on it as a payment option. As my daughter is too young to be eligible for NCMC I thought I could get her a QR ticket using the TVM and my NCMC. However, the ticket window staff said that the TVM does not accept NCMC yet. So had to stand in line for her ticket. :( This was two days ago on 27th Jan.
Bank debit cards do work with ATVMs
@@SaurabhRautIR Agreed but my point was that NCMC cannot be used at a TVM where it is mentioned as a payment option on the TVM itself. So wanted to make others aware.
Might be they'll roll out an update to ATVMs in future for the same.

They are at present loading the amount via cash only. Though SBI has mentioned several other modes of loading. Also the ticket amount that was deducted can never be understood, I mean we don't get any receipt at present related to it. Also balance cannot be known. All such things increase pressure on the ticket counter on the platform.
The balance can be known will tapping the card on the gate. It will always show the amount deducted and amount left.
BEST bus me ye card use pe ticket cost pe MDR fees lagte hai jo CHALO card me nahi lagte.
Best ka chalo normal card bhi metro par chalega ya nahi?

As of current time, NCMC doesn't offer any passes or discount, but it is expected to be introduced soon.

Not yet. Mrvc is yet to roll out update to UTS Machines for accepting NCMC as Payment method

Informative video. Thank you Sir for your time and effort. I've got the BEST Chalo NCMC card from Yes Bank. It works on BEST Buses, but not on the Mumbai Metro system. It shows the error "invalid card" at the AFC gate even though there is enough Online and Offline balance. Chalo customer support do not have any clue. They always reply we will look into the issue. Please let us know how the above card works for you.
Take the Chalo NCMC to Metro Station ticket counter and Ask the Executive to "Add Service" on the card. It'll be accepted at AFC gates then

Mumbai metro staff at first were reluctant to integrate the Chalo NCMC card. I insisted and then they created a CSA (Customer Service Area) for non SBI/Axis Bank cards. Now the card works at all AFC gates of Metro 7/2A and gates with a Bank Card option on Metro 1.

Why do we always use manual paper works which is a big headache and causes lot of arguments during KYC?
What is the point of having Aadhar card if it does not come in use at such places?
Only authorised outlets (Stations in this case) have authority to validate KYC of the customer.

No need buy Additional ncmc card if you have rupay platinum debit card
In your atm card " debit + prepaid " will be printed.
I have HDFC Rupay Platinum Debit Card. But Debit + Prepaid is not printed on it

Ye Card Bank se link nahi hoga, it's a "Prepaid Card". Some bank do issues "Debit + Prepaid" cards that are NCMC compatible.

4:35 Important to note that the BEST CHALO card shown in picture especially the last one of the 3 cards does not work in MMRDA Metro . I have tried there after seeing this video and blindly tried to enter. The card didn’t work and the security told me that this card never works in this metro. I was getting late and walked to cash counter 😔. I had specifically got the BEST Chalo card for Mumbai Metro as it’s easy to apply, recharge , home delivered and looks good :P . But please mention exclusively the plain chalo card wont work in Metro .
Bro that chalo card is Powered by Rupay only rupay prepaid cards works as NCMC Card Hope this Helps
And Also the Mumbai One Card is cheap as the issuance charge is 0 rs whereas chalo card take rs 50 for issuance so the Mumbai One metro card is far better and it can also be use to withdraw cash but you have to visit SBI branch to do a full kyc.

No. NCMC Card is issued for 1 person taking the documents. Multiple passengers can't travel on 1 card.

Yes Definitely. There's a clip at 3:47 which shows Conductor of BEST Bus issuing ticket using the Same NCMC Card of Metro.

It might not be sure if multiple operators accept each other cards or not.

No. NCMC is issued by taking documents of 1 person, and so, only 1 person is allowed at a time in metro.
In case of buses, you can take multiple tickets, but not in case of metro
