Fun fact: this is actually a 1 to 1 scale of a needler..for a spartan,as Spartans have bigger hands things tend to appear smaller. Another company made an incredibly beautiful needler for props, and it's more of a 1 to 1 for the human soliders like the Marines or the odsts, halos pretty crazy with how big everything is.
Well yeah, a lot of weapons are gonna be pretty big considering the species that makes up the majority of the covenants military and political backbone is over 7 feet tall on average and is easily 300 pounds of muscle, so it makes sense their equivalent of an SMG is pretty big by human standards
This thing in Nerf hyper would be absolutely fantastic because the upper portion of it could be the storage Hopper and could hold like 40 rounds of neon pink Hyper balls.
This is clearly a collector piece with a blaster addition just like the other crossover blasters similar to this and I actually really like how it looks.
So as a Halo fan, I want this for a display piece. I 100% agree with you though that this should have fired like the one in the game. Using rival or hyper and work like a Perses.
Cool replica blaster for Halo fans. I'll say I think the inaccuracy of elite darts actually makes them kinda look like they're 'tracking' in mid air which is actually really cool.
For 100 dollars, it should've had a bit more detail, like removable spikes for dart storage, Metallic plastic, and a rate of fire upgrade. but At least its not the mandalorian blaster. Always did love the needler, though. something about it just feels Awesome to use.
Well I agree halo 2 is the best halo game BUT halo 2 was the only one you could dual wield the needler in and that's because Bungie realized how OP dual needlers were in halo 2 because they changed the problem of the needler forcing trades and made it so it outguns virtually anything
In terms of the argument of using different ammo, I think in conventions or showing friends, having the correct shape shots flying through the air adds to the "wow" factor. This goes even more if the rate of fire was increased and the shooting sounds were added. Maybe including pink accustrike darts would be a happy medium? Pointy sticks flying through the air but you can actually hit what you're aiming at lul
The cons I used to go to had stricter rules in the halls, but people would be more chill in outside areas, especially if people were doing it for a photoshoot. I've only really been to smaller ones though
Someone made a pretty good point about keeping elite darts since the fishtailing could somewhat simulate the needles tracking people. Most of the Halo games, I believe with the exception of Infinite, had needles that sort of danced around as they flew to you.
@@anthon0360 I get what you mean, but I don't think hasbro had deep lore in mind when choosing elite darts lol. I think they're just cheaper and make the pricier accustrike look superior
Just me personally kind of wished for the nerf needler. Did what boomco did which is the needles could be removable so you can insert your darts if you wanted to so it acted as dart storage
@@surgefire4845 I agree, while I thought the BoomCo one was cool, the needles on this current model are too fantastic to even want to swap out. Might as well have a concealable slot at the bottom that you can pop open to reveal more darts if anything. Hell, it could even make sense of the ammo, like in Halo CE where there was like little crystal pods you would pick up for "ammo" just stuff a wad of them somewhere haha
Honestly I strongly agree with the accurracy of the rate of fire and ammo capacity with this gun. I'm a bit of a halo fan and I wouldn't mind the projectiles being balls. The gun had so much potential to not only be a collector's piece but an absolute unit of a nerf gun when playing competitively. It's sad to see it miss the mark and cost double what it's worth as an actual nerf gun.
Honestly, not having a rechargeable battery is the most compelling argument for the value issue, and its not something that even came across my mind until you mentioned it. 40 dollar desk games and modern Tamogachi/Digimon have cheap rechargeable batteries in them these days. It hardly makes sense that any full auto blaster still takes a fleet of AA (outside of maybe environmental concerns of alkali versus lithium). For what its worth, I agree with the rate (and method) of fire being more important than the shape of the projectile. The needles don't sit in a spindle in the front of the blaster, they don't fire from the top of the chamber, and they fire fast as hell. If I'm buying a FUNCTIONAL replica then function matters. At the crux of every one of these Nerf limited videos, the staunch supporters are on the end that its a high end prop (even though most don't look as good as this one). But if you want a prop, you buy a prop. There IS a novelty to having the prop functionally shoot, but at the core of it, the reason you'd buy a NERF prop specifically is to USE it as a blaster. I don't think its off base for you to be disappointed at these blasters being either functionally deficient or functionally identical to much much cheaper blasters, especially when other companies and independants prove that Hasbro could be easily make incredible blasters at the high end price point. Or you know, if the Overwatch line hadn't already proved that making a roughly game accurate shell for functionally identical blasters doesn't require a 3X price hike.
Yeah I'm actually upset that I constantly forget the Overwatch line exists, and it's easy to overlook them because there was only a couple and they weren't on regular store shelves. But these lines prove you can make high quality replicas that fire darts at a reasonable price. I'm not saying NERF LMTD doesn't have more detail and paint that make them generally look better, but the prices aren't reflecting that in the slightest. Or, in the case of the Mandalorian or Pulse Rifle, they're not quite to scalr or have other nagging issues. I have a video on this coming.
As a prop this blaster is amazing! As a Nerf blaster... I personally like the speedswarm so I like this blaster! But I can see why someone would not like it
I'm a big halo fan, but I agree, it should have been a hyper flywheeler with the hopper in the upper half of the blaster with the batteries and electronics in the lower half, they could have even gone the extra mile and included pink hyper rounds. The needler has a pretty decent capacity and a rather quick fire rate, in the time it takes this thing to fire 3 darts the in game version can finish a mag dump and already be halfway done with it's super fast reload animation, speaking of which, a hopper system is faster to load which is also more accurate to the in game weapon
M41A had the underslung launcher and the ammo counter, and sound effects for everything. Not much, but it was something. That was also far from ideal with the mag situation.
@@WalcomS7 The Mega launcher also performed terribly (worse then the bigshock) and the ammo counter is practically useless with the whole mag situation. A single shot Mega masterkey isn't necessarily useful when the Motoblitz has a 6 dart shotgun that can easily be modified

Its a bit of a pain but I've saved money multiple times doing this. Free returns through Kohls stores
Standard darts would have probably been better if they opted for the old school Velcro darts (so they can actually stick to people), or suction cup darts. They'd lack the functionality but it'd be more for the fun factor at least. But, yeah rival would have just been cooler function wise and at least have some value for money. Overall it looks cool and would probably get it at the more appropriate 40$ price point - who knows Gamestop might have them on clearance in a few months.
I hope there will be 2 tag backs sometime to make up for todays not being here, but honestly something different isn't always bad. Thanks for keeping up the great content.
As a casual Halo fan, it pisses me off INFINITELY that Hasbro chose to screw these Halo licenses up so badly. Like, I don't need them to be the most lore accurate things ever (though, the Needler should've came with suction darts for that sticking on surfaces effect), but I FULLY BELIEVE that the Assault Rifle and Needler should have been FUNCTIONALLY SWITCHED. As I understand it, the Assault Rifle is a flywheel while the Needler is an AEB. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN SWITCHED. The rifle COULD HAVE BEEN a modernized bullpup version of the classic Stampede while the Needler could've just been a reshell of any of their existing flywheel blasters. Where would the magazine go for the Needler you ask? The thing is HUGE, they could have had the bottom part be on a hinge that you could unlatched to reveal a hidden magwell. And since their actual blaster is just a 10-shot anyway, they could just include a small mag for people who want to keep up appearances and then just have a big hole at the bottom of the blaster (maybe covered with a 2 piece rubber flaps) for people who want high ammo count instead. Screw it, some day I'll reshell a Worker Phoenix or a community designed flywheel into a 3D printed Needler and reshell a Magick Mop (if that gets released) into a 3D printed Assault Rifle.
As both a Mega Man fan and Nerf fan, one of my dream Nerf LMTD blasters would be a Mega Buster replica (especially since the legendary Thinkgeek replica is out of production). The idea of a Nerf arm cannon type blaster has been in my sights for years; hell, we have it pretty close with the D-Dart Tempest; all it needs is a shell. It could work *so well.* However, I can't say the end result of all Hasbro's work on the Needler, or any other LMTD blaster for that matter, makes me any more or less excited for something like that to ever release, much less be conceived at all. It's like you said, decent lights and sounds (which are two things that Thinkgeek's Mega Buster replica did near perfectly) aren't Hasbro's forte, and even if they did get those right, there's always the issue of Nerf never delivering on performance. The only result I could see from a situation like this is a half-assed prop that only does the same garbage we've come to expect from Hasbro, missing key components that prevent it from living up to the legacy of the replica that came before it, and of course, with an MSRP that could buy 3 full tanks of gas for the car I drive. In some way shape or form, these blasters will always underperform in some category, whether it's aesthetics or functionality or some other third thing, and they will almost never be worth buying at full price. And that's pretty much the all encompassing statement when it comes to anything Nerf LMTD will put out. Basically, as much as I'd like to see it, it's probably not going to be executed well and it's probably not going to be worth buying, because Nerf's business model revolves around Murphy's Law.
I literally thought about the soldier 76 blaster, then saw it in your display less that 5 seconds before you cut to mention it, with the same thought process of nerf making a prop blaster like the rival perseus.
Oh walcom, I DO plan on taking this to an actual nerf event, whenever the nerf action experience opens in Tennessee I will make kids fear the pink mist!
That fact it isn't that oily, chrome-ish high gloss shine is such a letdown. Like, that crappy super shiny plastic has been around since the 90's and would've been perfect on this. And yeah, it's just not a performer in any capacity. It's just meant to look cool and be 'functional', though it would've been nice if it actually was kinda a beast, especially for the price point. The display stand isn't even much to talk about, it's just clear plastic that snaps together. xD
Admitting you are not a Halo fan, still giving it a fair score, I can respect and appreciate that. Saying this would have been great as a rival series? I'm saddened and disappointed 😆
I love my boomco version needler that I luckily found new in box on eBay 😳 but this is more detailed and accurate to the game so I’ll have to add this to my collection 👍🏻
I saw this and immediately thought it would be cool to mod it to make it actually somewhat fast even if not that powerful, just to make it at least somewhat like the game because even if not accurate rate of fire, just something somewhat quick would be nice
I got mine still in the box waiting to open on my birthday in a week. I'm sure modders out there will find a way to double the rate of fire on it. I think a missed opportunity was making them suction pink darts. They already released them for that limited classic blaster so why not this? But still a nice collection piece along with my Halo MA5 assault blaster.
I'm not a Halo guy, but I would expect this to have a rate of fire similar to that of the game as well. No Walcom, you are not taking crazy pills I think your assessment of this is a good one.
I mean in fairness… why would you buy this nov 23?? The Wednesday before Black Friday?? Honestly the complaint about the price dropping so soon is on you walcom
Because it's supposed to be a limited item and you wouldn't expect that to go on deep discount. There was tons of NERF Stuff that wasn't on sale during that time.
I know this video isn't about this blaster I'm about to bring up, I'm only bringing it up because you mentioned it. Have you ever tried to modify the Soldier 76 rifle? If so, how did it go?
I couldn't agree more, for that price you would expect it to have a rechargeable battery pack, however, as someone who owns a Speedswarm and Powerbelle, I can confirm the 6 AA batteries in both give them the life span of a TV remote, however with the LED lights for Display Mode, they might die faster.
As both a Halo and nerf fan I honestly agree with Walcom. As a display piece it falls a bit short in appearance and presentability while as a blaster it isn't doing anything impressive given the price range. To me it feels like the boomco needler but it has rubbery needles on top instead of dart storage.

It should definitely cycle faster being a needler… well nothing a couple IMRs can’t fix! 🤪
lol creative title. had me fuming for a second.
Ngl, I am a pure halo fan. But I enjoy your views on it. I am going to get it as I like it as a prop. Love the review, dude!
This would have been cool as a gel blaster
It’s funny how when you pull it out of the box it faces the entirely wrong direction. It seems not to be just your box either Walcom.
not the pretty pink darts int the rain!!!!
I agree rate of fire wold be better and capacity maybe better with rival rounds
(Firing rival round’s)
I know this video isn't about this blaster I'm about to bring up, I'm only bringing it up because you mentioned it. Have you ever tried to modify the Soldier 76 rifle? If so, how did it go?
I haven't but I assume it's much like a perses.
For a needler, the rate of fire is a big insult. For a prop, cool, but it’s SO expensive,it should be 50$
Still waiting for a super shotgun from nerf. And it better shoot mega darts.
toy halo go pew pew
best halo game GO!
My fav is reach.
Walcoms7 I agree with you I think it could’ve had more things to. it to make it better for the hundred dollar price tag I agree with you
Team Forged Ember 🔥
6:41 i guess this is how winter looks like in usa?
Check the first video of Tagbaxmas, it was a winter wonderland until this storm moved in and rained on everything.
I had never played Halo but that blaster looks so cool!
as a halo fan I still agree with you it should be faster it should hold more amo and it should be usb rechargeable.
Balls 🐑
I agree.
As both a Halo and nerf fan I honestly agree with Walcom. As a display piece it falls a bit short in appearance and presentability while as a blaster it isn't doing anything impressive given the price range. To me it feels like the boomco needler but it has rubbery needles on top instead of dart storage.
the game took off again, you sellin the codes on ebay?
I feel like it compares to the Alien Blaster.
