I received my HD544 on Nov 8th. At that time there were no help videos anywhere, Nextwave, UA-cam or anyplace else. It was like they started selling the HD544 with no support, except for the small manual. I will say the install was straightforward. Your video sure would have helped as I had to figure it little things out myself. As of today, Nov 30th, it is a dead $6000 CNC. Tech Support was leading me through updating controller firmware and it hung up and bricked the controller. 😪😒😒😒 Had a problem with Homing Y-axis, it would Home but then Y-2 would start banging into the hard stop over and over. Support had me swap the Y1/Y2 RCA cables and everything works, swapped back and still worked. It is up and running OK. Spent day tramming, they said to use foil shims, what a pain. I found a better way. Nextwave has test files but they are not for the HD544 and they x/y's are reversed.
Please send me an email at scott@thecraftyweiner.com and I’ll get in touch with Next Wave and see how I can assist you. I’m sorry there are challenges.
Hi Ted! I used the Kreg Workbench kit. I used 64” rails and added the wheel kit. For the top I used doubled up 3/4” plywood and the bottom shelf is a single sheet of ply. Hope that helps. If you have any questions let me know! 🤘🏻
Lead screws? Not ball screws? That's hard to believe. The Shark site says so and we see it here but it's still hard to believe. Al the other specs look good. Looks like a cross between a Onefinity and a normal extrusion benchtop. On the Y axis is that bottom beam supporting the lower rod? I don't see how this unit could not be more rigid than a Onefinity.
i purchased partially based on your video - but seems my Y2 rail is doa and for over a week i have basically been told to upgrade firmware. very sad to spend 6000k and not able to get a bit more attention. seems your assembly probably had a preview build at nextwave and all pieces verified as working. My y2 rail screw vibrates and grinds loudly and doesnt move the gantry, so cant get past the "auto align" - hopefully a bit more serious attention can be found from nextwave before Christmas.
Hi! I just got off the phone with Next Wave and I understand that you are working with the Chief Engineer and tech support. Let me know how it works out!
nextwave did send out a new y2 motor which got things a bit farther. but the machine errors attempting to home it. their go to answers are always cables in wrong place and firmware - even though i constantly send screenshots it being correct and correct, and beg for a more substantial answer. getting less and less confidence this will ever work - as they tell me some machines have perhaps had wiring backwards and i should try reverse plugging y1 and y2 but they are not sure....then how can i be sure of anything with NextWave. it sure goes to show the value of being "associated" with nextwave vs being just a customer. I will need to tell my wife that this has not been much of a christmas gift so far! several of my woodworking friends having been paying close attention - and will probably go a different direction.
Looking good, Scott!
Thank you very much Marc! 🤘🏻
So awesome! Great job 🎉
Thank you my friend
This is very easy to follow, great video Scott!
Glad you think so! Thank you very much.
Good details, well done!
Many thanks!
I am really impressed with the overall quality of this CNC. It appears that this will be a phenomenal machine.
This machine is top in class. No comparable!

Hope you got that resolved.
Great video Scott. This machine looks outstanding! The craftsmanship appears top notch!
Thank you! It is beyond top tier for this class of CNC Machine. Next Wave has definitely hit all the right spots!
If your measurements were off by 3/16 of an inch with the inserts, would you redo it to get it within 1/16 of an inch with wood screws?
You could do what I did. Leave one side in the inserts and use wood screws on the opposite side that way you don’t need to redo it all.
Would you mess with it if it’s that close? It’s so close to the inserts it might hard to get the screws in

You can leave it. Run the auto square function and that will true it up nicely.
@ is that in app folder?
Sir, where did you get the table from? I've been looking for something like this. Thank you.

I am sorry that you are having that experience. I am calling Next Wave and am going to see if I can get some background.

On the Pendant check the Model #. To change the model number, you will:
1. go to the "settings" (gear icon)
2. then go to "control"
3. then go to "change model number"
4. then type "5000" in the area and hit "OK"
