    Keep at it! It's a great technique, but I often see people not level their fill properly. Yours looks pretty great here. Some tips to think about❤: Epoxy has a tendency to cave, especially for bigger fills, so overfilling is helpful. Also, maybe try mixing your color in with one part before mixing in part 2. Just some common ones

  • @Kerry-gt5ro

    table has nice color etc BUT epoxy tables are soooooo gross. just use epoxy sparingly for voids etc and go with an oil finish for the actual wood. pro tip of the day!!

    I don't know a thing about laser. I bought the 20watt to put on my HD520 and it's so slow, am I doing something wrong,? I wish next wave will start having tutorials. When you call tech assistance they don't know much at all. What you just did would have taken me hours to produce.

    Thanks for the video. I have the Shark HD520 with the spoilboard set and love it. Having said that, flattening the black MDF spoilboard is probably the messiest thing I've ever done in my shop. Still, it's a great value as you said. I do have an unrelated question for you. How do you have your spindle set so that the dust boot reaches all the way down to the work surface. I have my spindle mounted all the way up and the dust boot fibers end maybe one inch below the bottom surface of the collet, which puts it above the work piece top surface with most bits.

      Hi Gary! I don’t know the actual setting as I am out of the shop on vacation however using the compression fitting for the spindle I adjust it down so that the bristles are in contact with my work piece and tighten the bolts. There is more than enough “float” that way to make proper contact. Is this what you are asking?

    • @garypetersen
      @garypetersen 8 днів тому

      @@the_crafty_studio_official Yes, it was that. I've got my spindle set all the way up in the compression fitting and still have a gap to the work surface with most bits. Thank you for the quick reply, and for the video!

      I am happy with it. I do not use lasers in my workflow very often so I’m still learning so it’s hard for me to judge speed. That being said it is very easy to use and I find the learning curve to be very manageable. I haven’t tried to cut with it yet but have been using it mainly for logo burning and etching and it is a solid performer.

    Why are you using clean gravel and not gravel with fines? Clean gravel doesn't truly compact especially with no water for density. Won't be a firm surface for the concrete and will end up cracking with any sort of substantial load on it

    I have a new table that I wanna make after a couple practice pieces. This slab has a decent crack at the one end and was wondering if I needed to bowtie it before the epoxy or if an epoxy fill would be enough to hold it together in the future?

    • @the_crafty_studio_official
      @the_crafty_studio_official 2 місяці тому

      Hey Mike. Not at all. Great question and thanks for asking. Resin acts as a glue and has more than enough holding power therefore bow ties are not necessary. @@the_crafty_studio_official I'm using the Kreg PRS 2100 table and after taking advantage of the table’s asymmetry, I’m able to get 4” of the 6” possible fence travel. The last paragraph on page 1 of the instructions calls attention to the need for a “shop-built table extension must be added to the back of the typical table” to get the full 6” of fence travel.
