As an efficiency geek who also has been in construction for 40+ years, I'm quite excited to see someone of your abilities move into the construction field. I've built near 40 homes (and a few commercial facilities) and I'm looked at as a *freak* by the builders around me for many of my practices. However, I end up with better quality homes and less than half the labor so I don't mind looking weird. So excited for your journey. Would love to drop by and say hello sometime, share my learnings as applicable and it's quite likely that I have a need for multiples of your homes in the next year or two related to a new project I'm involved in in the Eastern Sierra. It's not an adventure if you know how it ends. JB
the same thing happens to me every time, when i invite somebody to make some improvements in my shop! They just look around, count my machines, all my expensive stuff and triple their price for work! insane.
Wow, great video as always Jay. I will have to check out the website. Man, you are gonna be spread thin young Man. I am glad you have an All Star team because that in my opinion is going to be a huge help. You get what you pay for is not just about consumers but employers as well. I wish you good luck!
Yes being spread too thin is something I'm very conscientious about. We follow the EOS business strategy... It's the only way to pull off this endeavor.
Good luck on the new venture. It’s great to see you move into an area that needs the kind of disruption of the industry. Are you planning to sell nationwide (Florida)?
You should look into something like an electric pallet jack or other similar equipment for moving those heavy objects in your tighter spaces to help avoid accidents
Im a Vfx artist turned GC and this is really exciting to see. If there isnanybway to work together in the SF East Bay let me know! Ill reach out through other channels but congrats on the new venture! - Cedrick
i like the idear of haveing the stock/material on card's ( or whatever you call them in english ( do note im from denmark so english is not my first language) ) only thing i dont like is that its not the hight ajustible one's ( so you can always have the top one at the perfect/ideal hight ever time ) btw do you use a normal forklift ( where you look straight a head ) or the side loading type ?. only asking since the side loading type is more compact so less chance of driving into something since you got more space or did you mean a pallet lifter but just happend to say forklift ? i see and understand the shelf in the assembely area . only thing i could thing of to make it even better would be 4 leged sit stand desk's with a plastic plate as a top ( covering the entire top of the desk) with milled in area's where specifik/commen used things go ( the where box's slot into hand tools is stored so you dont forget where they are and the heat sealing machine is with zero chance of being pushed off the table for any reason. and even a for holding/hole for a coffee cut/glass of water so it cant tip over and spill ) as well as a manually operated vertical carousel shelf. since then the whole sheld is basicly in the optimal hight instead of only about 3 shelfs are the benifit for piccola to have pierson as a parent company is 1. experiance with metal work and 2. extremely experiance with fixtures and holding solution's. both of which they can draw from for when i new desing for a new tiny home comes out btw cheers and happy new year from denmark
I looked at lots of brands, including Saber, and the Phantom had WAAAYY better bang for the buck. The bigger principle is to enter new ventures as inexpensively as possible to free up capital for other startup costs.
I hear you, It is enticing to buy China. My selling factor for ShopSabre and the many hours spent studying each though is ShopSabre has Ballscrews and Phantom is Rack & Pinion. The largest factor though is personal principales. Us Michigan Shop Owners are all about sourcing local for dependability. The machinist in me cant give large sums of $$$ to a company who ONLY assembles machines they did not make them. ShopSabre has it's own software and it's frame is machined on all sides in a singlar operation on a 5-axis S&K Bridge Floor Mill. I do hope the Phantom works well enough for the homes your making though. I might get one for a Air B&B venture on my land. Good Luck @PiersonWorkholding
Love your CNC work, but tiny homes are not going to help the housing crisis. Live in an extremely high cost of living area and some people have tried it, but the land costs alone are the kicker. If you buy a plot and throw on tiny homes you are basically just creating a trailer park v2 and again that land is not cheap. I do wish you well in the endeavour though.
Lots of negative assumptions there. Tiny homes on wheels are ideal for family owned properties where they can be used as an ADU. Our models are meant to keep families living close to the people they love in an area they don't want to leave.

Wow!! I’m so glad to see that you started a tiny home company. I wish your dreams come true. Thank you!

Love it! Reach out to me at Pierson Workholding. I'd love to connect.
Keep killing it, very inspiring to see you able to build a business, and step away and start something new while the other continues.
You seem like a great boss
Very kind. Thank you.
As a poke-yoke (mistake-proofing), can you install a curb or something to prevent the forklift from backing up into a machine?
i'll second this. it's a simple and cost-effective solution if it can be implemented.
Good luck Jay. You have an incredible drive and vision, so I believe you will thrive.
I appreciate the support! Sometimes in life, you gotta go all-in!
Awesome to see Jay! Wishing you every success in 2025 and with the new Piccola Tiny Homes venture.
Thank you for the well wishes! I appreciate it.

Frustrating, isn't it?
Good luck and happy new year! Your content and insights have been really beneficial to our shop and rolling out improvements. Thank you!
Glad you're finding the content helpful!

Yes! Since we build Tiny Homes on Wheels (actual legal classification of THOW) we can essentially deliver them to any state.
You should look into something like an electric pallet jack or other similar equipment for moving those heavy objects in your tighter spaces to help avoid accidents
very good video mr pierson..thanks for your time and good new year
You guys need a Biesse - Rover B CNC router. super reliable and fast.
It's not just California--a lot contractors seem to be in gouge mode. So frustrating.
Don’t worry, drywall first usually looks cleaner on garage door installs.
Ok that's reassuring! We accidentally got it right.

btw do you use a normal forklift ( where you look straight a head ) or the side loading type ?. only asking since the side loading type is more compact so less chance of driving into something since you got more space
or did you mean a pallet lifter but just happend to say forklift ?
i see and understand the shelf in the assembely area . only thing i could thing of to make it even better would be 4 leged sit stand desk's with a plastic plate as a top ( covering the entire top of the desk) with milled in area's where specifik/commen used things go ( the where box's slot into hand tools is stored so you dont forget where they are and the heat sealing machine is with zero chance of being pushed off the table for any reason. and even a for holding/hole for a coffee cut/glass of water so it cant tip over and spill ) as well as a manually operated vertical carousel shelf. since then the whole sheld is basicly in the optimal hight instead of only about 3 shelfs are

So cool.
Cool
Phantom uses ALL China made components. I almost bought one!
A WAYYYYYY Better router is a ShopSaber!
