Before trying this, fill the jar with vegetable, canola oil, or other food oil just above the blade. You can't use petroleum oil for this as you will contaminant your food. Run a cycle 2 times, then let it sit overnight. Repeat twice, 2 or 3 days and see if the oil seeps in to the bearing. This has worked for me in the past. It might be good preventative maintenance when your blade seems to get a little rough.

to my surprise it is still working nicely.

You could probably use a multifunction tool to cut away the plastic. I used 608 inline skate bearings. This lasted about a year before I bought a new carafe.

it's a standard bearing you would find in a pair of roller blade wheels.

Well I did get that the blade is left had thread which is good to know, but it looks as if taking the blade off and driving the bearing out the other way is the way to go.

Nice job. Were there any numbers off the bearing and seal, or were those proprietary?

may I refer please to our brand new jar, a blender jar for the Blendtec blenders with removable blade assembly. I am showing a few videos on my channel already. It's so new, brand new, I received my first air shipment of these new jars just a few weeks ago and the big delivery is scheduled for mid october 2015.

I suppose if I had a small oscillating saw I could have cut it cleanly. it was just luck that the striking of the hammer cracked the molded plastic uniformly.

My bearing is failing and I'd like to replace it especially if it is a 608ZZ bearing, which I have a bunch lying around. Do you think it can be replaced without cracking the bottom? I'm trying to remove the reverse threaded cap at the top, but it is on there very tight, and it is difficult to grip and apply torque.

The video seemed to stop mid thought. Were you able to successfully repair the blendtec blender part. I have the same issue.

So... has anyone figured out the type of bearings I need to get to replace the bearings?

Yes, Blendtec Jar is very poorly designed, but the blender is very nice. So, how I solved such problem - I use Alterna Jar with removable blade.

Blendtec told me I was out of warranty and would have to buy a new jar. Then I found Alterna jar. It is a Blendtec replacement jar that addresses my three points of concern with my original jar. (1) better blade -in design and balancing (2) removable/replaceable blade (3) cost less for the initial purchase and for future blades when needed. I was going to try to crack open the Blendtec jar and extract the bad bearing. I even purchased new ceramic bearings for it but I was never happy with the old jars performance. The Alterna jar gives me every drop of the performance I expect from the super powerful blender. I was so excited I made a youtube demo video, but you don't have to see it for me to tell you Alterna jar is the way to go.
