  • Upshot: Will it chooch? Designs so bad it almost causes you to wonder if they made it non-serviceable on purpose just to drive up sales...

Вставляем в чашу предмет,чтоб зафиксировать ножи и крутим звездочку с обратной стороны по часовой стрелке.Когда гайка ослабнет,зажимаем ее плоскагубцами и выкручиваем😊

i can give you some useful information how to take the blade out.
the tooth side you can use a 10 or 11 mm ring spannerthat fits perfectly. for the nut you can go with a grinder and cutting disc and cut gently a cut for a big screw driver that will work , good luck guys

If you buy Blendtec. Register it with Blendtec. I bought one used and they replaced the jar at 7 years because the original owner had registered it with them. The serial number may be enough. They also have super duper specials on replacement jars and you'll be notified if you're registered. If I have to purchase another jar near retail I will go with the repairable replacement (not cheap). The throw away society pisses me off too. The mindset is wrong and the cost is bull shit. Have a nice day. ;~)

Where can you find the repairable type jar?

The first gasket and the second one on the shoulder that you dropped is actually a single piece. There are two rubber sleeves they cover the bearing on all sides. These sleeves have thin metal reinforcement that you mentioned are “crusty”. The rubber sleeves basically snug the shoulder of bearing inside the notch. Without that sleeve/bushing there is nothing for the bearing to hold on to.
The video below at 0:42 shows the picture:

Thank you for that video! It'll come in handy the next time I try to restore one of these things.
I did also see in the comments that there's a company (Alterna Jar) that makes one with blade assembly that isn't fully encapsulated in the plastic - that might make for easier bearing replacements too.
