I enjoy fishing my BG but if it had even slightly better sealing it's would be the best $100 reel ever. That sound is the line roller not the drags. It's an easy fix, it's just two bushings in there which I prefer over a bearing. It's a hard reel to fish on a boat to me as the spray and mist just from being on the water will get into the reel. I've opened my 6500 up to find salt everywhere and it's not like I'm dunking the reel or swimming with it. One nice thing is the design is very simple so I just break it down completely, ultrasonic the parts, relube it and put it back together. Daiwa seems to be going in a direction where they don't want you servicing your own reels and it's frustrating to me. I don't want to have to send in my reels to Daiwa to service them but the mag seal situation makes it tough and now the monocoque bodies really make it tough. There's something to be said for simplicity and being able to service your own gear.
totally agree with you i don't saltwater fish. but own Diawa exist and the Airity. I got magseal system removed from both and upgraded with better bearings. Works greaT in fresh water
Ive been fishing non sealed fishing reels for years. Wetted fierce boat sprays on fishing tackles is no problems. Wont jam the reel. Any reels. But onced I forgot to bring down for 3 days a fishing tackle set, the reel jammed. Opening up the reel, shoot plenty of WD40, it work fine. I got reels that is 30-45 year old Ryobis , BG old and the new twin stopper with minor greasing it still worked after all thse years

Can u please guide me what size Braid line will be perfect? Which brand? What highest size fish can be targets in this BG 3000?
I bought a BG, and it doesnt spool on the line evenly. Much more line at the top of spool than the bottom, which makes it so i cant even get half a spool of line on there. Will never buy another bg
I cut off the handle, center punched it and drilled just until the post came out of the handle. After that it’s easy. I did put a little jb weld on the new post to make sure it didn’t wobble. Works perfectly
@@frostizz2072 I spool my own line and every time I do it I pack the line tight as much as tension I can get and it helps when ur fighting a big fish and pulling drag.

Yeah buddy! Hooked up to some monster and it was not happy! The grinding sound you hear is the braided line peeling off the spool it was running hard

@@joshjohnson3005 behold...problem fixed...they sell the knob with handle now. Took me about 20 seconds to replace!
Gomexus sells a power handle. No drill needed. They also sell knob.
