Other reviewers stated the steering is very cayman like, so that's a good thing. And I can vouch for the car myself. Very direct. Only way it could be better is if it wasn't electric for better feedback.
@George xander Sure! Well I’ve owned one for about 5 years now and I love it. It’s not the greatest daily since it’s very stiff and the mileage isn’t the best, but I do drive it 3-4 times per week and any drive under and hour is totally tolerable. I also modified mine with a tune and some parts and it really woke up. 60k miles in and I plan on keeping it for a long time. It helps if this is your other car, but it’s a joy to own.
@georgexander7170it’s a hatchback but with the most occasion of any hot hatch. It pops and bangs in a way that’s fitting for the car, tasteful enough, and will leave a smile on your face after the millionth pop. Handling is unbelievably precise with great steering. The engine has throttle response in sport mode that I didn’t think you could do in a car made this century. Letting off the throttle feels like hitting the brakes sharply. It rotates on throttle thanks to a BRILLIANT AWD system. Great seats, great transmission, great sound, great stopping ability, great looks, makes for a car you never want to sell. Had to modify my musang ecoboost decently to enjoy it, this car is lovely totally stock.
@bradleyisfishing the rs has better awd system than the subaru even though the subaru is a true awd 50/50 but it just understeers. The golf r is not even a true awd. The rs and evox are one of the best awd systems in a sport compact.
@@commentmancommentman1658 it’s really impressive to drive a car with proper torque vectoring. Helps a LOT with understeer. You're basing your approval of this car off of one short drive? You're a writer/car reviewer, so you should do actual research. The AWD system is sent to the back via an extremely small rear driveshaft and far too small differential, and when it gets hot, it cuts off the AWD. It then becomes only front wheel drive. Their are many other claims that Ford has made that are not true. The car is not worth it. Scroll down to the second post (8/10)... www.vorshlag.com/forums/showthread.php?p=58372

I got suprised by one a few years ago when I was riding my 750. I was in the second to left turn lane about to go under an overpass. I thought I'd pass this Focus beside me when the light turned green so I could get on the highway. He took off unexpectedly and beat me through the corner, it wasn't until I hit 90mph on the on-ramp and was really trying that I gave up catching him. The RS is quick.
Just buy an rs many under 30 thousand the average car is 70 thousand for a family making 60 thousand do if you are making 35 thousand or more you can afford it
The only downside to owning a Ford Focus RS, is when you tell people, you have to say, "yeah, but it's an RS, " and explain it, because all people hear is Focus.

M D aren't the head gaskets on this Ford Focus RS the same ones that are on the Mustang GT and that causes breaks in the seal and antifreeze to leak into the Pistons and hydrolock the mother fucker
It has a open deck block design that tend to be weaker than closed decks. But to be honest other than a few issues from the early models that I've heard several different causes from reliable sources. It really isnt a problem unless you go modifying it and use a shit tune.If you do mod it and up the boost it is not forgiving like some designs to tuner error. So in other words dont cheap out and Jimbob tune it and it'll be fine.
dead zone312 how is the head gasket supposed to be same as on a V8 when it's a 4 cylinder ? 🤦♂️ They accidentally used the same head gasket from the ecoboost mustang, because the block is a bit different in the RS it caused the issues of engine failure.
Dude, what gives? When you were on jalopnik your videos and write ups were basically the same info. Now I have to go to autotrader to get your actual thoughts? I refuse to go to a website that I still relate to "buy here, pay here" and an overabundance of v6 camaros and mustangs.
If you get a chance you should also drive the VW Golf R. Its also a very good car & better then the Focus RS in certain categories & they say its a better everyday car.
Before I bought my Focus RS, I also test drove a Golf R (albeit with DSG) and I did not find it nearly as engaging as the RS. Granted the Golf R does have a somewhat more premium interior, but lacks the heavily bolstered seats that are a huge plus when carving through the canyons. Also the Golf R does have a softer suspension than the RS, but I do not find it too stiff on the RS. The biggest difference is indeed the power delivery; the RS feels like it has a lot more than a 58hp advantage over the Golf R. From my time of ownership, the main downsides are the somewhat large turning radius and the small fuel tank (13.4 gal); though the turning is really only an issue when maneuvering into a tight spot.
If Doug thinks this is expensive, wait for him to come to Uruguay where any car has a price of almost the double that on the USA. We don't have the focus rs, but for example: a Mercedes Benz A45 AMG costs 95.000 dollars, absolutely nuts!

Doug is the type of guy to read every RS badge throughout the car instead of saying how many there are.
Do you remember the car well enough to append a DougScore ?

This is how all of his reviews should be made!
you smiled wayyy more in the RS than in the civic type R
Porker and Nissan just barely beat you
Headgaskets...
M D aren't the head gaskets on this Ford Focus RS the same ones that are on the Mustang GT and that causes breaks in the seal and antifreeze to leak into the Pistons and hydrolock the mother fucker
dead zone312 last I heard was that it only affected a small amount due to a shipping error.
There was a recall, no more headgasket issues for later 17, and 18 models. They are replacing all old headgaskets as part of the recall.
dead zone312 how is the head gasket supposed to be same as on a V8 when it's a 4 cylinder ? 🤦♂️ They accidentally used the same head gasket from the ecoboost mustang, because the block is a bit different in the RS it caused the issues of engine failure.
Dude, what gives? When you were on jalopnik your videos and write ups were basically the same info. Now I have to go to autotrader to get your actual thoughts? I refuse to go to a website that I still relate to "buy here, pay here" and an overabundance of v6 camaros and mustangs.
The shortest Doug video with a car in it ever
front grille has a Mustang style look, plus the Orange colour scheme makes it look damn cool.
I live there, thats scarsdale New York
Anyone know how the steering feels in this car?
d i r e c t
And one here , and one here
Sloppy and imprecise
If Doug thinks this is expensive, wait for him to come to Uruguay where any car has a price of almost the double that on the USA. We don't have the focus rs, but for example: a Mercedes Benz A45 AMG costs 95.000 dollars, absolutely nuts!
Too hard to put an actual link to the autotrader review was it? You MELT!
