    I totally understand needing to eat and pay bills. I used to blog and to do it well took time and energy.
    I need pockets when I dog walk during the warmer months but the rest of the time they are just a nice thing to have. I like the short sleeve made into a pocket a lot.
    I would rather watch less videos but better ones than a lot of mediocre ones, yours are always good.

      Thank you and I agree, pockets are so nice to have though at times mine get things like grass clippings and twigs in them by accident (side effect of yard work)...lol

    Oddly as I am not a seamstress or person who sells my creations but I am currently making about 5 different pockets and I have made multiple other pockets, no dresses, just a bunch of pockets hahaha - thanks I enjoyed this - thank you

      I have seen some really cool projects done with just pockets so maybe there's hope for them...ha ha.. The article I linked shows them used in a different way I think if I remember correctly and I'm sure I saw them on pintrest.

    I will miss your weekly videos. You're, by far, one of my favorite channels. I understand having to diversify. I have a full-time job and three side gigs. If you don't mind me asking, what's your "day" job?

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  25 днів тому +1

      Right now I'm reselling items on ebay and sewing for 10 to 12 hours a day. An average video tutorial can take 2 days to make. My poor gaming channel content cannot be made either. The last video was over 30 hours of editing and 25 hours of game play. You tube is very time consuming and I just don't have it to give right now but maybe in the future? I hope.
      I really love making the videos and enjoy the interactions with everyone. I love sharing things I'm passionate about.
      I don't know how you do full time plus side gigs. When I was younger I did work more hours and had boat loads of energy but now I have a neck injury and other issues and it makes it so hard.

      @SherryJonesDesigns Thank you for sharing. I am sure a lot of people don't realize how much goes into putting together a video. I hope that things go the way you need them to.
      I've been in (financial) survival mode my whole life, so I'm always looking for ways to diversify. I just turned 59. I'm majorly burnt out, exhausted emotionally, mentally, and physically. It's no longer sustainable. I had to take a leave of absence (I work in a hostile, toxic environment and have been bullied and harassed for more than three years). I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't want to crash and burn. I need to find another day job because I can't go back there. I really wish it wasn't so hard to survive. I feel like I can't afford to be alive.

      I'm so sorry. One thing that might help you is to think 'outside the box' that governing bodies have created for us. If it wasn't for having to provide a home for my son, I'd do van camping and camp hosting. I love gardening and visiting with people and don't mind roughing it a bit when needed....must be the farm girl in me...ha ha. It would be part time (seasonal) and I could travel the rest and just camp host.

    I'm grateful for everything you share. You're an exceptional instructor. Your lessons have given me the confidence to actually start making my own upcycled clothes. If you decide to start a Patreon or paid subscription, I'd join. Thank you for the time you are able to share with us!

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  25 днів тому +1

      Oh, you are so sweet. Thank you so much for offering to join. If I ever do it again I will have a ton of stuff on there (patreon) that is extra tutorials and one on one coaching and conversations etc.
      I'm so glad I was able to bless you and I'm going to try and keep posting free content here for everyone. I know most people don't realize it but tutorials cost a lot of money on Etsy and I wanted to give them to people so they could save money and make their own garments or make money to help themselves and also to help the environment.
      It may just be a bit longer between postings but hopefully I can keep up and keep some content still coming. I also thought about lives as there is no editing there. We will see. Thank you again for your love and support.

    such good information about pockets! I also enjoy seeing Catherine Anne's up cycling creations! I wish it was not so much work and time for you 12:48 to make utube videos, or that they paid you much, much more!!?? I am grateful for any videos you can make for us!

    Have you ever tried making cargo pockets? I have made them. They are great at keep things in them when your are climbing, bending over a lot, and other movements. I like those gathered pouch pockets you showed us. Those would be cute on little girls dresses. Thank you for this video.

    The main problem with the Discord was that it didn't have enough people yet and hadn't grown into a cohesive sense of community identity. Just like getting an Etsy shop going, or starting a UA-cam channel, sometimes it needs more cumulative work and sometimes it just needs to ripen.
    I have found another creative textile reuse group that's still in early growth but a bit more developed. I'll share a link with permission.

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  24 дні тому +1

      Perhaps you are right. It had well over 100 people on it though. I think the root of the problem was something else and something I can't fix.
      I'd rather not have the link here of the other Discord because I don't want to support something I haven't fully investigated but I appreciate the offer.
      Perhaps in the future if I get more time I will follow my original vision of Patreon with a Discord with contests and large prizes only available to Patreon users. I think the time for it was premature as I don't have enough content and time to do it at the moment and think I will make it a future goal for the channel.

      I'm confident that you can succeed when you're ready to try anew. In the meantime, make stuff and pay your bills (and maybe film some b-roll) knowing that folks are rooting for you.

    I have a question that is not so much about sewing as it is about your sewing room….how many square feet do you have in there? I have a 12x12 room and I find it way too small to store my stuff and sew in it too.

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  26 днів тому +1

      I think it is about 10 by 20. I did start with a 10 by 12 and it was too small mostly because I use such a large sewing table which I find to be something I cannot do without.
