Domaine Jean Claude Bachelet, Saint Aubin 1er Cru, Les Frionnes

Terroir Talks with Jean-Baptiste Bachelet: This premier cru is at the bottom of the valley at 270m - and the name Frionnes refers to the cold aspect... from frois. It is susceptible to frost here. It is later to mature and has more acidity and good freshness in the palate and is quite tight, says Jean-Baptiste. It’s an easy access wine, not very rich, but nice and tight. We are in a combe so this brings a cool draught. Marl and lots of little stones, so while it’s at the bottom, it still drains well.
