What a place! All those gorgeous cutthroat and one brown hiding in amongst em. Do you ever think about cooking one up? I would've been tempted to on that non native species.

Too sweet. Question: I am toying with getting a GoPro and videoing my own river exploits. Do you normally have it mounted on your head, or chest, or somewhere else? I am wondering how stable a head mount would be.
Almost always on my head. I wear a hat and use an old action hat mount (search action hat) hat didn't last long but the mount can be used on any hat. Has been really useful. I sometimes carry a tri pod style grip for non pov shots...but that's just to make the vids a little more non pov style. But those are the only 2 things I use to record my trips.
Great video. Lovely scenery. I often fish in grizzly country in Montana. Do you carry bear spray? I certainly do as I've had some close encounters with those bears.
Great video. The scenery surpasses the fishing, I think. Question - what was the water temperature when you fished these Wyoming streams? in August? Many of the larger trout you caught required some time to recover before you could release them, suggesting that the water temps were higher. Just curious.
It was cold but I don't know for sure what the temp was...guessing that had more to do with how hard the fought as only a few of them needed some extra time to recover!
@@LooknFishy Thanks for the response, Drew. Yeah, bigger ones fight harder and longer, and get more tired. Your release technique is quite sensitive to the fishes readiness to be released. I like that touch.
Drew, I have been watching your videos for a couple months, you go to some of best places for fly fishing, but you should try to fish for the native species of the region like a cutthroat in Wyoming.
Thank u much. Have considered it but I like fishing too much to be restrictive. However, I'm looking into the WY cutt slam for next summer...the missouri trout slam was pretty fun!

@@LooknFishy yea I see another haha. It's nice to see places like that and anoher on your video. For you, many fish in one place is a standard, but in Poland it is different. The mentality of the so-called communism who take the fish has made it difficult to catch something big. It does not help either, these people occupy the highest positions in the Polish Fishing Association. It has been changing a bit for the last few years, because young people who rather release fish. There are also no-kill zones and in such places we mainly catch big fish. Outside of these zones and you have to be patient. When I was young, I did not release the fish because my father would take away. Fortunately, many years ago, when I grew up, I learned to release caught fish. It is beautiful :)
Super super awesome video bud. I greatly envy ur getting to take the amazing fishing trips u get to take. But i think i speak for all of us in sayin how grateful i am to get to watch them all in ur vids. Are using a 3wt on this river?
Another fabulous video Drew. I've been on Google Earth for hours since your last video, as well as my maps. Getting things narrowed down. I've got a Hero 4, but found the Hero 8 on sale so I'm going to grab one, as well as the Action Hat do it your self kit you mentioned in your last video. My 4 doesn't have stabilization so the 8 is a no brainer. Care to share what your video settings are?
Happy to, I record at 1080 at 60 frames/sec in wide. This gives me good quality video and doesn't take up a ton of digital space on sd cards. I have tried 2.7 and 4k...but those settings just eat battery and sd cards. In the end, I want to fish more and deal with the camera less and the settings above have worked for me but also get descent quality video.
Very little, I might add some brightness to the talking parts bc those are usually done when the light is fading. But not to the fishing scenes...except to slow a release down if I go too fast. I try to do very little. I edit in adobe premiere elements 13, it came on my laptop years ago.
Hey Drew! Another phenomenal video and footage of your adventures! Although I know you are a 'catch and release' guy, (which I totally respect and agree with), but, after all of your time, effort, energy, and money invested in your fishing adventures, don't you want to at least enjoy the fruits of your labor, and cook and eat one of your catches? Trout is one of my favorites, and I think you 'owe' yourself that reward. I don't judge, and never will, to each his own. I think you deserve a better meal than the 'bagged food' you eat. Just an honest view and opinion. I thoroughly Enjoy your videos Sir!
Thank you. I agree, I do need a better meal than bagged food lol! I have in the past and it was great so I get it...and have nothing against those that keep their catch. I definitely agree that I'm in no position to judge what a person does with the money and time they have earned. As long as it's legal and it makes you happy...go for it! I honestly, really just don't want to deal with it. It probably doesn't seem like a lot of work to most but to me...a bag and some boiling water and I'm done for the day. Cooking anything is work to me....prep, clean up, etc. Super lazy when I get on these trips lol!
I really like my orvis ultra light wading boots. They're as light as my hiking boots but have better in water traction. They drain fast and dry quicker too!
Hi Drew, do you use a leader and tie tippets to it or just a leader that tapers? Edit: I know I have commented asking on a few, trying to help the algorithm so you get more views. You deserve it!
Thank u man, definitely appreciate it! So I usually start with a knotless tapered leader and then add tippet. I try to keep everything around 11 or 11.5 ft. So my set up would look like this...9ft 2x tapered leader...tippet ring...1ft 3x...1ft4x...first fly and then add 12-15 inches of 4or5x to a second fly.
What a beautiful stream! Great video, thank you. By the way, curious...do you carry bear spray? It’s highly recommended in many of the places I fish in Montana.
I enjoyed the video and those were nice looking fish but tons of videos on people catching fish. Kind of look to those where you go away having learned something. John K
I hear that from time to time, I also get the, glad I don't add anything, so nearly impossible to please everyone. But I did start adding dedicated tip videos (in my tips playlist) where I walk through a run from start to finish or explain my set-ups for those that would like more information. Most are form these same streams. Hope that helps! As always, I''ll answer any question you have. Thanks for the feedback...truly helps me dial in what people are looking for on YT!
Can get complicated based on type of water...but in general...stoneflies, mayflies and caddis cover most situations. I carry them in nymph, emerger and dry. Sz 16-18 in natural colors. In my opinion good presentation and general shape are more important than specific pattern.

Who makes your rod holder? Any chance of sharing a location or two?(I hope)
The rod holder is a riverquiver 4 banger. Sorry, wish they were mine to share but had help from a buddy in the area.
why is the camera hunting for focus?..Also what size fly are you using ...just curious.
Guess you mean when I show the dry...gopro doesn't do well up close. Had 2 on...sz 16 on the front sz 18 off the back. Both were productive.
Super super awesome video bud. I greatly envy ur getting to take the amazing fishing trips u get to take. But i think i speak for all of us in sayin how grateful i am to get to watch them all in ur vids. Are using a 3wt on this river?
Much appreciated. I fished my 10ft 4wt here...the water had some push and I like having the reach!
So badass
What kind of indicator is that?
Dorsey yarn indi's are my favorite!
Thanks Drew. Do you do any post editing?
Very little, I might add some brightness to the talking parts bc those are usually done when the light is fading. But not to the fishing scenes...except to slow a release down if I go too fast. I try to do very little. I edit in adobe premiere elements 13, it came on my laptop years ago.
@@LooknFishy Unfortunately UA-cam's video compression is very aggressive and makes moving water choppy making it hard to follow the indicator / fly...
@@ibookje yea, I've noticed that wish there was some way I could fix it!
Where is your home base. Where / when did you start fishing
Home is Arkansas. Started fishing around the age of 6 I guess...so about 38 years ago! Wow...feel old now lol!
Drew! Big fan of your vids. Keep em coming, as long as you’re safe! Question....what’s a good hiking/wading boot you use to get to these waters?
I really like my orvis ultra light wading boots. They're as light as my hiking boots but have better in water traction. They drain fast and dry quicker too!
Drew so fun to watch....feels like me inner me out there ,Keep on it,,btw are you using split under the indicator or just beadhead nymphs
Thank u much. Absolutley, 2 cans...I wear one on my left hip and keep a 2nd in my pack as a back up. Wouldn't hike in bear country w/o it!
How do you know what flies to use?
Can get complicated based on type of water...but in general...stoneflies, mayflies and caddis cover most situations. I carry them in nymph, emerger and dry. Sz 16-18 in natural colors. In my opinion good presentation and general shape are more important than specific pattern.
Do you carry any bear protection?
Love it man! Is this up in sublet county?
Thx man, honestly have no idea what county I was in, sorry.
I am really enjoying your videos after finding you a few days ago. Great job and awesome adventures! Is it catch and release only?
Thank you! I definitely enjoy making them. Before covid we didn't have the internet speed at home to do youtube. No, I just prefer to release them.
@@LooknFishy Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. I'm watching this video as we speak "Fly Fishing the Conejos River in Southern Colorado (part 5 in the series)" I'm in AZ and could drive there in no time. Looks beautiful :)
Wish I were that close...but probably good that I'm not...I'd be a total bum lol!
Jeckyll859 that river is blown up now, too many postings on it
if all fishermen practiced conservation methods as u do. We would have an amazing fishery for generations to come... I love your channel. am a new subscriber.
Doing my best to show others and maybe be a better example. Feel like it's mostly an education thing...so many learn from yt and they repeat what they see!
Do you ever eat what you catch?
where is this at?
Wish I could share it man, but doing so publicly would be irresponsible!
hey, nice vid, how many hours drive ??
Thank u much, 22 hrs (1500 miles) lol!
@@LooknFishy that's a lot, each way ir total ?? I sometimes wonder about 10 hours drive being too many.
That was one way! I like road trips tho!
@@LooknFishy yes the place is a lure itself, makes the drive worth it, I enjoy the drive too, hope to get some vids when you are in winter, you helped me to go through winter over here 👍
Yep, definitely worth the drive and look forward to doing it again. You'll see me fishing all year...we have mild winters where I live. Plus, redfish season for me, starts in about a month!
Great stream with some gorgeous water! Also which gopro do you like?
Thx man. Upgraded to the gopro hero 8 black in June. A huge improvement over my old 5...the housing to attach it to anything is no longer needed...so the audio and color are great!
@@LooknFishy .thx!!
Hey its me again did you have any stand up steaks on that trip
technology is messing with you lol!
Sweet video man! Keep them coming. I'm always watching your new ones on my lunch break, wishing I was out there 😂. What brand tippet are you using ? I don't recognize it.
Thank u, it's just the orvis brand. I can't believe you waste your lunch break watching this garbage lol! Appreciate it man!
I love your videos. Just a suggestion... You might want to "Hey Bear" a little louder. A bear 20 yards away may not have heard you.
Yea, I wonder about that sometimes lol! Especially close to the river.
Would Love to fly fish here!
Was a good time for sure!
Fish of the day at 8:35. Perfection.
I'm renaming this body of water Chunky Rainbow Creek.
I dig it! Was a cool stream for sure!
We have friends in both Sheridan and Lander. I hope you're headed to the Winds on this trip, but if not, definitely come back - SO MUCH water on the east side of that range.
Love your vids. Small stream fishing is one of my passions. Moving up creeks and fishing the pockets and runs is like meditation. Keep up the great work!
@@davidwillis4223 I didn't make it out that way on this trip but definitely planning it for the future. 10 days goes by quick...need more time lol!
is that grizzly scat ? nice videos
Black bear! Thank u!
Love Wyoming. Been fishing it for 25 years.
I hate u lol. Definitely looking forward to fishing it more the next few yrs...if I'm lucky!
I could propose marriage to a stream like this.
...and no question be happy the rest of your life!
Does anyone keep the trout and eat them?
In most cases I don't but I'm not against it...and might have to keep a few invasive brook trout during my 2 month trip this summer.
