I have not found anything more of a challenge than keeping upright in a trout stream, and the water out west is just rock most of the time. I fall all the time also. But this stuff keeps me young. Thanks Drew, keep up the good work.
Enjoyed this one too in your Wyoming series. Cracked a rib slipping like that...I now use a wading staff any time I enter the water. After seeing the battery problem you had, it reminded me I need to buy one of those emergency jump starters before my next trip. Just ordered one! So thanks for the reminder.
Another awesome video Drew! Your camera does an excellent job of making your viewers feel like we're right there with you! Such beautiful scenery and great fishing, glad you shared another adventure with us. You definitely deserved that cold beer! Cheers!
I bet you spend a fortune on out of state licenses! But then again, the areas are so remote that there are more Bear sign than State Ranger sign! Great Video!
They add up quick and I usually need the annual...states like WY are nice bc it's 12 months from the date of purchase. Others expire on Dec 31st which isn't as cool!
Now that's my kinda water! You definitely hit it out of the park on the Wyoming trip! These days it's pretty rare that I even fish streams requiring anything bigger than a 4wt. I prefer the sneaking around and rock hopping and casting precisely at little seams. Thanks again for the inspiration!
Dude I’m always impressed with your accuracy and line control on the water. 💥💥 Great videos. You hit the water and get after it without fighting it. Way cool. Enjoying the different types of water too.
Trout Slayer, these are Some of the Best dam fly fishing videos on UA-cam! Tell us bit about your video gear, setup (how it’s attached/tripod, etc.), editing software. There’s definitely 2 schools an whether to video or not. I understand them both! Frankly it’s pretty dam cool to view your own adventures weeks/years after you’ve done them, so I’m trying to do more of it...
Sure...so I film with gopro hero 8. Attach it to a hat and wear it. Carry a small grip for some non pov views. Lots of extra batteries and 256 sd card with several extras. Edit with the program that came on my laptop...adobe premiere elements 13. I don't really edit, just basically share the day as it happens...in 60ish second clips...like I do on ig. Keep it simple and try to let the day tell the story. Definitely dig having my own online journal to look back on!
Another enjoyable video and love to see the small stream fishing with dries. Looked like mostly browns in that stream? Look forward to your future vids Drew.
Yea, they make great vids. Be cool to have a team with awesome camera gear to travel with. Unfortunately, I only know 2 or 3 other dudes that fly fish and none want to hold a camera lol!
Ahaha that’s exactly me when I head to fish out of my truck man....check...double check...triple check....oh my...from under the bush there at the end...well done Ahahahha tight casting
Hey these videos are just fantastic to watch, especially when you're stuck in California with no open forestry. I think I've already watched them all -- great work! A TECHNICAL NOTE: The most recent videos, I think starting with the Bighorn Mountain Episode 1, all have a compression glitch, at least here. Every 4 seconds, the image goes quite pixelated for half- to a full second. Not a huge deal, but it does kinda put a pinch on watching the take, etc. Maybe you changed your encoding setups? I'd be eager to know if others see the same.
You're the 2nd person to mention that. Thought it was just a connection issue for the viewer but now I'm curious if it's more. I have no clue on loading settings, I just use the settings recommended by my program for yt. Thanks for the feedback!
@@LooknFishy gotcha. I happen to have a bit of connection to things UA-cam, so I will ask around in my circle as well. Seems like it ought to be figure-outtable. I know it's a long haul, but I hope you get out to California sometime next year, once things are more settled down here. Tight lines and keep it up!!
@@LooknFishy well from what I could figure, this might be a browser deal. I watched on Chrome instead of Safari and did not get the odd picture breakup every few seconds. So, the issue might live in how a given browser works with UA-cam. Might be worth poking around with other content publishers to see if they have sussed out both the problem and a solve. Meanwhile, keep u the good work and stay healthy. Tight lines, of course!
I tent camp if I'm base camping and fishing several streams in the area. Most trips, I move every day and fish a new stream. When I do that I just sleep in the back seat of my truck or throw a cot in the bed.
What's your method of finding good small streams? Is it just simply following tributaries of well known streams and rivers up in elevation? Thanks great videos.
I spend a ton of time on the internet doing just that. Actually read about this one in a random blog from like 5 yrs ago. Couldn't find much more on it, so I figured it was worth a look.
Drew LooknFishy do you mind me asking what the name of this stream is? Or does it have a name? Or town near it? Whatever info, I hate to be “that guy” but this stream is so pretty. I believe I’ll be driving through Wyoming before too long, and if this is anywhere near where I’ll be, I may just have to stop and fish it for a bit
Pants...was using an old simms quick dry. Just picked up some wrangler ourdoors from walmart, no kidding...and love them. They dry quick, have great stretch and super durable. I have 2...went to a few stores on my trip (co and utah) and can't find them. For $20. I'd buy more in a heart beat. Boots...orvis ultra lights. Had them since 2016 and they've been great for hiking and wading. Not as light as a hiking boot but dry quicker and have better in water traction.
I film everything with 1 gopro. Wear it attached to my hat and carry a small octapus grip for the talking and non pov views. Tried the chest but miss too much b/c I don't always face the direction I'm fishing.
I dig textured lines. They are noisy but I don't mind since I think they perform better than smooth lines. This was orvis pro textured. SA amplitude infinity on my 4wt.
Thank you, yea I just try to be real. Too old to try and fake it! I believe you're talking about the red thing..that's just my tippet holder...I take it off my waist pack and clip it to the shoulder strap when I carry a backpack.
Got some simms and just picked up some wrangler outdoors....and love the wranglers. Been trying to find more...light, stretch and durable. Plus true fit and dry quick! They are great!!
It has saved me a couple times. Yep, must of ran it low getting in and out of my truck over 3 days, weird bc I started it and ran it ever night for 15 minutes. Picked up a new one just to be safe.
What’s the gun for? You shoot a grizzly bear and you just ruined your life. Between the Fish and Game and the enviros you’ll seriously regret it. Carry bear mase it really does work for both humans and animals.
I live right at the bottom of there! it’s not that far to town. If you don have Biden stickers or Cali/ny/nj plates me or one of my neighbors would have helped ya haha
Beautiful stream. Healthy fish. Love the solitude.
You nailed it, definitely why I dig small streams!
God, that last brown was gorgeous. I am rewatching your dry series, you did an awesome work.
Thanks dude, that was a cool stream for sure...full of healthy vibrant fish!

Great fishing and great beer go so hand and hand. Love the beauty of Wyoming!
I couldn't agree more!
Those are some beautiful Trout Drew. The scenery isn't bad either!

You bet...that was a tense moment. That thing has been very useful over the years lol!
Love the videos. Best time of my life was fishing the small streams in Medicine Bow National Forest as a kid. Hope to make it back one day.
Some nice water in that area, definitely understand why u are looking forward to getting back.
Thanks for sharing. Great fishing and beautiful scenery.

Was a super trip for sure. Same here 3 or 4 most days. Only 2 I used this entire trip.
Stranded would be spooky. 😆 great videos Drew!
Great video! Always amazing to see how large fish get in such shallow water
Much appreciated. One of the awesome things about those small waters is discovering how healthy they are...some are a bust but others hold gold!
Another fine video Drew. Great series, and beautiful water. That first brown you caught was a surprise in that water.
Thank u, went in thinking it would be bows. The browns were a definite surprise, the last one was stunning!
Killer!!! Love those browns!!! No water here in pa!! Blanked today
That sucks!
Playing bigger fish on the 3wt is so much fun.
Definitely is, love that bend!
Got a 3wt after using a 5wt as my workhorse and it definitely has changed the game.
@@Little.R yep, I haven't fished my 5 much this year. My 4 covers all the big water and the 3 is just a ton of fun!
Just bought a 3wt ready for next year can't wait to use it and put a bend in it . Lovely trout and stream 👍
Really enjoy your videos, thank you
Glad to hear it!

Nice stream with some pretty bows and browns! I do some falling also! Keep em coming! Tightlines!
Haha, anyone who says they don't fall...isn't being honest lol! I fall alot!
This is incredible. Fish on every throw
The magic of editing...but seriously, definitely more fish than I could put in the video!

Gotta love the small streams. Well done .
Some of the best fishing there is! Thank u!
glad the truck started up! love watching your vids.

Tight and skinny, gotta love it!
A good time for sure!
Hey man your videos are pretty fun to watch! Ever fished Arizona? There's some good small streams in certain parts of the state. Have fun out there 🤙
Awesome to hear that! Not yet, but thinking about it next summer!
J. Knutson My son lives there but I’m in PA, any advice where to go when I visit him?

Good vid Drew. Nice to see your channel expanding. I'm still trying to grow mine.
Thanks, definitely dig the interest!
Love the videos. Can you show us your sleep system? You don’t have a topper on the truck. Do you tent it or drive to a hotel?

Glad u had that battery backup, Love your videos You make it look so easy!!!!! Is it black bear protection u have, what caliber?
Me too...it was starting to get serious lol! It is, 357. Wear spray also.
Gotta love underfished rivers and streams...
Won't hear me complaining!
Love your videos, brother. Thanks for doing them. What kind of 3wt are you using? Glass? Graphite?
Thx dude, superfine carbon!
I fish the horns and have been in those same shoes. Sometimes we microfish places that nobody thinks are fish and nail them
em
No question, always fun to find a stream that most walk past on their way to a bigger stream...and find tons of willing fish!
Hi Drew, what pants and shoes are you using when you are fishing the streams? insulated socks/boots? thanks!

Haha, making videos is quickly becoming one of America's top 10 most deadly jobs! I was drinking regardless lol
@@LooknFishy haha, you're not wrong!
8:47...and that's how I broke my 3wt in half. Heard a loud 'crack' and thought, I hope that was my arm....
Haha...depends on which arm!
Beautiful little stream. New sub from me. Tight lines.
Was a good time for sure! Thx dude!
Do you film your videos with only one hand held GoPro camera ? Do you ever wear a GoPro strapped to your head or chest ?
I film everything with 1 gopro. Wear it attached to my hat and carry a small octapus grip for the talking and non pov views. Tried the chest but miss too much b/c I don't always face the direction I'm fishing.
What length and brand 3wt are you using on this trip?
Using 7.5' orvis superfine carbon!
What line do you use that makes so much noise when you pull through guides.
I dig textured lines. They are noisy but I don't mind since I think they perform better than smooth lines. This was orvis pro textured. SA amplitude infinity on my 4wt.
what polarised glasses do you use?
Costa 580p in green mirror/copper lenses.
At the 9:56 Mark is that a shadow of you holding your hat with your GoPro attached?
Probably so, I just take it off and talk to it...feels weird at first but I'm getting use to it lol!
Another beautiful area. Do you live in Wyoming?
No, mail comes to Arkansas but I spend a lot of time living out of my truck lol!
What do you do for living, Drew?
Love your channel and down to earth character. What is the container thing on your left chest strap?
Thank you, yea I just try to be real. Too old to try and fake it! I believe you're talking about the red thing..that's just my tippet holder...I take it off my waist pack and clip it to the shoulder strap when I carry a backpack.
I enjoyed this one thanks. I see you're carrying. What's that all about?
Thanks dude. I carry a 357 in bear territory.
I wanna fish with you next time your out west
Right on dude! Might be a while tho!
i noticed 2 different revolvers. 500 s&w in this vid?
Nope, just the one...gp100...probably compression or bad angle. I don't understand computer stuff.
Just thought I saw a wood grip in one vid
What long pants do you wear when wet wading?
Got some simms and just picked up some wrangler outdoors....and love the wranglers. Been trying to find more...light, stretch and durable. Plus true fit and dry quick! They are great!!

What are you packing ? I assume its for protection against bears.
357, yes and carry spray also.
Every time you fall I cringe. I'm 52 and know how much that hurts. Rocks don't give.
No question...good thing the water numbs everything until the beer kicks in lol!
What length rod?
7.5 ft!
What's he carrying Heat for...maybe for the Wild Trout Attack ???
Those wild trout are unpredictable lol!
You ever encountered any Sasquatch?
Indeed...jack links and a beer and there all smiles!
