Madeleine: I just want to say that you have my empathy for putting up with negativity on your content, and my extreme admiration for holding your head up high. Keep creating what you want and ignore the noise ❤️❤️
I’ve never seen any negative comments x
@@TheMonkiBrothers: Unfortunately, there was yesterday, but it has been removed. There is no need to tear people down on their content. No one is forcing such individuals to watch and Madeleine did not request advice on how to present her channel. My heart goes out to her for having to deal with this but I hope she knows that others support her!!
I cannot even imagine anyone commenting anything negative on Maddie‘s videos! 😅 Maddie, you‘re a ray of sunshine ☀️
Don't forget that you can actually eat a lot of your tiny seedlings when you start thinning things out. They are just like the micro-greens that you can buy. They are full of nutrients and look lovely sprinkled on salads or in sandwiches. 😃
That is an excellent idea.
you don't know how happy these kind of (long) video's make me!
Yes, yes, yes to the boho chic and 70’s vibe!! I’m so with you on this!! That’s totally my style as well! I’m also 6 ft tall, so I relate to you on so many levels! So fun to switch it up according to how you’re feeling each day, right? Sometimes I’m more structured and tailored.
You can also plant cut flowers elsewhere in your garden, not just the raised beds. I have a floral border and it brings me so much joy, and brings in the pollinators!
Love these long chatty vlogs! 😊 I totally agree that we shouldn’t place ourselves in a box when it comes to style! As we grow older we change and so does our style. Always continue to have fun with it!
Oh my goodness, the bit where your sweet dog is playing with that other dog, such an unusual head of hair , it looks like a barristers wig! So adorable!
We had 3 weeks early summer....last week of April and 2 weeks in May were 19-32°C....it was too warm too soon...I filled my very deep gardens with plants on the 08th of May! Earliest planting in my life! Then it dropped down to 8°C-17°C ......plants were shocked but all survived! Finally it is a proper summer in the mountains...hot in the day time and coing at night.
I think you guys are doing great with the garden! As a professional gardener, I think it’s awesome how you are getting stuck in, and love seeing your progress! ( don’t worry too much about getting some thing’s wrong, that’s how we learn. ) ❤
It’s definitely a really good idea to get landscapers or a garden designer in to do a plan, and consult on pruning the wisteria and trees, if only to help you feel more confident about what you are doing, or to help with a particular project, especially the wisteria when you are getting the builders in to do the wall!
Love the blue dress. That colour looks so good on you 😘
I had the same experience with minimalism and style: I completely lost the fun of dressing up when I was very strict on how many clothes (and what colors) I allowed myself to own. And I definitely had some internalised misogyny there because I thought caring about clothes is superficial…sigh. Now I really loveee to think about outfits and as you said have different “personalities”!
Maddie, always when I watch your vlogs I’m absolutely stunned by the beauty of Cornwall. I’m living in Berlin right now, and even though it’s nice and convenient- your vlogs show me how peaceful and beautiful living in the countryside is. Hope you have a wonderful spring 🥰
Thank you so much
Don't worry too much about overplanting... All the extra veggies will be great for the freezer and for pickling. When you plant greens like lettuce and spinach, it's good to plant them a couple of weeks apart, and then plant them tightly in rows as cut and come again crops. If you want big mature spinach plants, then thin them to several inches apart, but if you want to harvest baby spinach, close, high density planting is totally fine.
It's also so satisfying to give surplus produce away or swap with family and friends for their surplus xx
Really wishing for another round of budget grocery shops :) food prices are so crazy and they are so inspiring. Thanks!
I love this video, loved seeing the dog's running and playing in the countryside....you have a lovely garden and I am jealous of your allotment style veg garden, I have just started experimenting planting a few veggies, it felt great harvesting a handful of lettuce today to have in our wrap for lunch, it tasted very yummy....keep going and sending us these lovely videos xxx
I love your vlogs! They are just so comfy and warm.
You could do some batch cooking when your produce is ready and freeze it, like curries, pasta sauces, etc.
Broccoli soup!
Going through a hard time at the moment and your long vlogs are helping me through! motivating and soothing me so glad i found your channel
You can put metal edging around the beds to prevent slugs from entering and eating everything. I haven't figured out what they are called in English, but in Swedish we call them "snigelkant" (slug edging) :)
Such a treat to open YT and see that you've posted a new long video!
You are so lucky to live where you do! The sea, the fields, lovely!
We are so so lucky!
Love hanging out at your channel, Madeleine.
You and Alex are such beautiful souls.
Another fantastic vlog from the beautiful Madeleine and don't get too upset about negative or discouraging comments on your video's. Love 🥰 this vlog and the good progress in the garden with the gardening updates. Yummy 😋 food. Love ❤😍 Madeleine & Alex.
Maddie! Maybe you should reach out to your friend who does the produce boxes - maybe you can give them some of your many extra little sprouts from your garden! Or maybe they could be a nice gift to give for a housewarming or birthday or something 😊❤
If you grow too much you can learn how to do canning, make soups for freezing, prep and freeze some veg etc. There's loads of ways to deal with the excess (bit time consuming though but might be good for videos!) Also you can use bramble branches to protect your plants from slugs
Lovely vlog and beautiful music.Cornwall is looking beautiful. The light is so particular to Cornwall.🎉😄🏖️
It really is isn't it!
Catching up as year old school for me as a teacher in the us. So far behind on videos! But I love your attitude about the garden! I tell my students we learn when we fail. And fail is just the First Attempt In Learning. You are awesome!! Love you sharing your world.
Wow, your singing voice is beautiful! 😍
When you go on these walks in the Countryside 29:13 It’s my favorite parts of your videos. I love all of the video but I just get swept away with the scenery during those parts. I just love the English Countryside so I think that why. I live in America, in Florida. We have NOTHING like that here where I am. So I just imagine walking along with you guys. 😍
I have just found your UA-cam and I am obsessed you are like a breath of fresh air . I aspire to live beautifully like you
The PMS a week before your period is so real! After turning twenty, I started getting two days of depressive symptoms a week before my period. I'm suddenly dissatisfied with my job, I feel like the weight of the world is on me, and I get frustrated or sad at nothing. Then on the second day, it calms down, and by the third, I'm back to normal. 🤷♀
Love this vlog, the music and country walks give a great aesthetic. You are such a real person, I really relate to what you talk about each vlog.
I agree boho is def your vibe, it suits you.
Look forward to seeing how your vegetables turn out.
Have a lovely weekend and keep being you ❤
Lovely vlog! ~ really enjoying the fun aspect...playtime on the sofa with the gorgeous Roxie melted my heart, and your singing along with 'Both Sides Now' was wonderful, and trying out different looks/styles with clothes & accessories. With all the demands of life we can sometimes lose sight of the simple things that bring us delight. All credit to you Maddie for reminding us to have fun! Regarding your veg beds, I think most of the excess that's sprouting can be harvested before maturity...ie, as micro-greens for salads, soups and veggie-burgers etc x
The plaits looked so cute! Love this vlog ❤️
I loved the bit of you cooking and singing, you've got a lovely voice!!
Loving these long vlogs!
I absolutely loved both outfits, the blue dress is so cute and flowy but the black dress with the denim jacket is also just perfect 😍 And the plait style suits you!! I love how you share more of like fashion and style content 🙋🏼♀️
Always love the long chatty vlogs (and love how you openly talk about everything especially periods!), you are forever my favorite youtuber!
Love your videos, Maddie! Keep doing you. ❤ Funny comment - I used to watch a British House Hunters show and I always envied the Cornwall area and being near the sea. It is absolutely beautiful. I haven't watched the show in quite some time, but I love seeing the countryside through your videos. I'm in the US.
I can't wait for your greenhouse. I had one and I had a wind up radio and I loved it so much! ❤❤❤❤
Love watching your videos! Thank you for being authentic and inspiring me to eat better ❤
The food festival looked wonderful. Also love that picnic basket. Keep in mind, if you mow after May, you just might be taking out the eggs/larvae that your pollinators left on those gorgeous flowers.
I can relate with Alex on preferring rice over sugar snap peas 😂 I’d encourage you to plant herbs like sage, anise hyssop, lemon balm, and mint (although mint can spread pretty intensely). I love to harvest and dry them for herbal tea. They’re perennials and cut down on the work that veggies take to grow. I also love to use yarrow, calendula, and elder flowers in teas. Enjoy the garden! ☺️🌱
Beautiful garden and home. Love the pale blue dress, really suits you. So look forward to your vlogs. Love to you both.xx
Thank you so much xxx
yes the colour looks amazing
I was just doing my yoga when I realized it's Thursday which means new video from you! I got so excited when I saw it's nearly an hour of relaxing time ready for me. Love these videos so much. Also, I wanted to mention that in the town where I live (which is quite small town in very very meat loving country) they recently got a fully vegan stall at a food festival! They were making traditional meals vegan as well as other goodies, and my friend and I got sooo pleasantly surprised by that. Seems like the goodies moved over there. :D
P. S. The garden is looking great. I remember how stressed you were about it being all overgrown, and unsure where to start, and look at you now! You all did great job! Keep it up! :))
Maddie we think you are doing ok with your garden. Experiment and have fun❤
That blue dress (style and especially colour) looks incredible on you! Completely gorgeous x
I used to have an allotment and would sometimes cry I got so frustrated at the slugs 😂- also my husband was the same about not liking anything I planted. I regularly want to off him
Leave the sugar snaps!! The more the better, they will get destroyed by caterpillars and slugs, so best to try your best.
Spinach, I'd recommend just letting them all grow as it will bolt at the first chance it gets, I'd just plant more spinach seedlings in the coming weeks 'successional planting' is what people call it.
Also - garlic and broad beans are an easy win to plant in november and just magically come up in spring - they make me very happy as they are low maintenance and you get to have some stuff already done for summer picking!
Luving the content. The gardening bits are great. As a fellow vegetable grower on my 1st season at my allotment, it's very hard work and a lot of information to learn.
Every time a new vlog drops I am so happy. Makes my day. I did not realize they call braids plats across the pond. Learn something new every day 😊
yes her vlogs are so subtle i like the chit chat as well
Omg, love your Hello Kitty cushions! 😍❤
Such a lovely vlog Maddie thank you. Thick Straw around he edge of the beds and even around the plants can deter slugs and snails and try and get in those marigolds quickly. Lots of them and lots of water every day so the plants can grow strong and fast 😊but there’s no rookie error Maddie you can just thin out as they grow
love the sunday country walk music
Thank you for such a nice long vlog!!
Love to watch your vegetable garden slowly progressing into a real treasure box full of nutritious goodness! =)
Wow Wow Madeleine what a beautiful beautiful house and your house is looking too too clean you're looking too too beautiful in Blue dress and I will support you till end💕💫😭
Great video as always !!
Enys gardens food jam is pretty good 😊
I loved the blue dress with your dark braids. So beautiful
Copper tape is great for keeping the slugs away! And it's really easy to apply x
Garden hoops and fine mesh netting will protect your vegetables from caterpillars. The garden hoops have more height than what you have so will allow your broccoli and brussel sprouts to grow without being squashed. Have learnt this from experience.
I could listen to you sing all day!❤
Awww that’s very sweet!
The braided hair is so cute, love to do my hair like that!
Yes don’t worry you can always can your veggies to use all year long
Maddie, I Loved this video.❤️👏🏻😍🫶🏻
Thank you so much xx
Mix your carrot seeds with sand (beach sand is fine) and sprinkle into your bed - you can see where you've sown and the sand disperses the seeds more thinly.
Wish I was your neighbour...Karen from Australia 😊 we put beer in a shallow container and sit around the garden bed and the slugs and snails with head in for it and sorry drown..arrr stinking nettle tea. Ii LOVE IT
Have a good day
omg the tiktok thing as PMS symptom - I totally get that too, it kind of ramps up over the week before my period and then a day or two before it starts, I usually have a problem even going to bed b/c I keep watching. So now every time I catch myself in youtube shorts after 11pm, I'm like is my period due tomorrow? xD
i ALWAYS spend the day hating my hair in plaits when I do two because they always feel different on each side! So I started doing just 1 big one instead even though I think 2 looks cuter haha, so that was extremely relatable!
The voice!! Had to pause this 4 mins in just to say what a hidden talent! 🤩
Omg I’m 4 mins in … Madeleine you have a beautiful singing voice xxxxxx
Awww this is very sweet! Thanks!
@@MadeleineOlivia I’m still watching the pigtails brought back memories of when I used to do my daughters for school she became so tired of me moaning that they were not even she taught herself to do them🤣 Loving the vlog your garden and your trips out fantastic as for dressing up well someone recently asked me when I was going to grow up I said never xxxxx Love to you and Alex. Xxxx
Really enjoyed this vlog, you probably already know this but you can freeze any surplus produce x
Love Roxy 🥰 We have a Field Spaniel called Indy ❤️
Love this you are really pretty
It’s due to allergies though 😂
If Alex ate the curry for tea .. he likes green beans 😂 there’s 1 vegetable!
Your garden is amazing I am so jealous would love a house and garden like yours 😍 xx
70s and boho is my jam! (More fantasy than reality unfortunately... ive actually lost my fashion fun factor the past few yrs 😞) So im totally here for seeing more of that style from you 😁 Ive never stopped wearing flare jeans since they came back in the 1st time in the late 90s, im so happy theyve finally come back in style ...even tho i dont care whats in or not ;) but accessibility is always nice. Sort of... finding ones without leather tags is tough. I'd turn a few heads when they werent "in" tho, and i cld tell ppl liked them even tho media was saying they were stupid. Anyways, i ramble too ;P
You’re just so dang relatable and I appreciate that so much about the new(er) direction your channel is heading.
I have a similar thing with my period. I get very low and sluggish a week before I get it, and I also have a very heavy and painful period. I recently found out that it is because I have essentially a double uterus and low grade PCOS.
I was put on a drug which really made things better. I take it for a week before my period and it helps.
You might want to talk to your ob gyn about it. I don't know if this is TMI but I believe that talking about this stuff is important
I'm on board with learning as you go with the garden. Otherwise, you can get analysis paralysis.
I LOVE that phrase!!
@@MadeleineOlivia isn't it perfect for that feeling?!
I have a problem with critters eating my veggies too lol I bought a motion sensor water sprinkler! It's saved me from bigger critters like raccoons I think we're my problem but it worked safely it just notices something walking by and goes off. Won't hurt them just scares them away
Best of you
please tell me your sisters puppys name is barrister 🙃 it looks like it has a little wig on
Haha omg that's so funny! He does!
Omg 😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅
I feel very sensitive and slightly depressed the week before my period, I also find myself ruminating about depressing things to the point I have to stay busy or my thoughts get so dark
You should come to Enys Food Jam in july! Smaller scale but very local with workshops etc.
Enjoyed this vlog😍
May I ask wheres the sweater from you're wearing while cleaning?
Carrots are my favorite vegetable. Or just my favorite food raw and plain. I could eat pounds of them but I restrain myself.
she looks like she has a peruke on!...so cute : )
NOOOOO to ketchup on sausages, LOL. DIJON MUSTARD for the win.
Always hp with sausages 👌
Oh, but the scenic seaside St. Ives looks lovely, Madeleine. 😍 32:57 Food festivals with vegan options can be disappointing and over-priced here in SF Bay Area, too, considering the portions are small and that there is nothing uniquely special as I could make something much better at home myself. Also, I shall never stop feeling miffed that burritos here are and will continue to now be HUGELY over-priced since the tech industry barged its way in everywhere over here. 🤨 Rice and beans in a flour tortilla with a bit of guacamole, lettuce, tomato, and salsa should not cost $10-$15, eh! 🙄😵💫
Tiktok showed me a gardener suggesting putting a bowl of beer out! The slugs will be attracted and leave your plants alone.
good morning☕️🪴🩶
Try putting sand around I believe that works.
Hi Maddie, we've been feeling a bit bored with our dinners so we've signed up to Green Chef (influenced!) Lots of the vegan meals seem very veg based and not much protein, do you find them filling enough?
I really do! I’ve always thought the portion sizes are great as we are two hungry people! Lots have plenty of protein!
I don't think this Is the right season for trimming trees. Research before doing things that could do more damage than good. Have we already forgotten last year's heat and drought . Shade is important in Summer. You are so lucky to have trees
I haven't done any trimming! This is what I meant about being inexperienced and doing things wrong. We are speaking with some professionals to trim the hedges/trees at the appropriate time so we get it right! The garden and the plants are so important to us
This is giving Kim people are dying vibes
Trimming trees now is fine, the only thing you need to do is give it a wk or two untill the birds have moved on as they are busy now with their chicks 😂,you have a shortish window then to get them trimmed lightly ,then good cut from end Aug / Sept.Lizzie ✊
dont worry too much about the trees, with the expected heat and water shortage, that might actually be fruitful (pun intended) for your garden
Strawberry is a berry but it’s under the fruit genus.
Loved seeing the dogs running in the countryside! I agree, I liked the black outfit, however the blue dress was nice too. Food is really high in price over in the US as well. Not worth going out to eat unless it is a real good restaurant and you want to treat yourself.
Your brows look amazing!!!
