Great video! I'm from indonesia and I had the same problem with my 2013 vogue with 54k miles on. As the throttle was very weak, I brought it to the shop and almost got scammed by my auto shop, if not for this video. They suggested that I replace the auxiliary turbo because it was dirty with oil and carbon, but i explained to them that this occurence is normal from what I can take from this video. So just to clean the inlet chamber and they reluctantly agreed :). This was today, I shall update if all is done and try to do a drive to see the engine response. Thanks so much!

Great video, recently purchased an L322 with same engine and 60k miles, while cleaning MAF sensor noticed oily carbon deposits around the throttle body - this video is a perfect basis as a guide on how to perform the throttle / plenum cleaning I now also want to do. Am a bit puzzled as I have the turbo drain mod, so in theory there should be less oil going through my intake. Guess i’ll find out once I take everything off! Subscribed.
Love scotland and love your videos, keep it up!

What's to stop me getting an aftermarket intercooler made, with a drain tap on the bottom,i have had oil build up within intercoolers in past vehicles and it's a relatively simple process to manufacture (on a custom intercooler)

Just use a self tapping screw into the botto9m of the plastic side piece of the intercooler. no need for a custom one.@@RaymiesGarage

Hello, you mention a pcv valve and oil separator, can you tell me where these are located? I'm having problems with an oil leak which is spraying up onto the engine cover so want to check/replace these items

@@RaymiesGarage I've looked closely at you video and can see a pipe runs from the right hand side of the oil cooler round the back of the engine and picks up in the air intake pipe from the air filter to the primary turbo, is that it?
      Thanks

Great video as always. By chance have you had to change your oil cooler. I read somewhere that the burning oil odour I recently experienced is lonk to a leak8ng cooler gasket. I would love your practical demonstration for undertaking such a job.

ive never replaced it, but looks fairly simple, just need to remove everything surrounding the oild cooler, however, the oil coller surface could be warped and may need replaced

Similar issue here but I also believe a big factor to the carbon build up on some is due to boost leaks, especially from the 4 updated boost pipes on that intake.

Map out the egr, oil in the intake is not an issue if driven properly 👍 run millers eco boost diesel additive in the fuel, amazing stuff 👍

Not all 4.4 tdv8 smoke out back especially if booted regularly. There is turbo drain mod for really smokey motors.

Hello…. the oil has nothing to do with it, the turbos are supposed to fill the engine with air, not oil 😀 I guess they've had a good time, I'm waiting for you new ones. Did you not clean the valve cover?

Bmw 740d here. No carbon problem whatsoever. But it is used for vip transport. If I fire up the car it does minimum 100 miles in 1 run. So it gets hot enough. I think the biggest issue with this car is short trips. Every diesel has this problem if you don’t use it for long trips.

You should have hacked that EGR pipe off. It sits in the intake airstream and hinders flow.
