    Thanks for this video, Iam restoring a vintage 1990s Dodge Viper go cart , right now it has an older Honda GX100 engine in it which is pretty anemic for such a cool cart,i plan on replacing the tired engine with a brand new 208cc electric start and using a long exhaust off amazon, according to my measurements it should come out right near the center of the rear bumper to replicate what the real full size Vipers had, another option I wanted to do was to make a custom dual side exit exhaust, but if i went that route ill have to brush up on my welding (I have shaky hands) because i want it to look pretty for such a unique go cart.

Punchy off the line. I am 200lbs to give you an idea of weight to the bike. I have the same CT200U EX bike as shown in the video. 196cc engine.

    In the car world, they always say longer intake runners improve torque, as do longer exhaust header tubes. Shorter ones improve top end hp. But does that apply on a 1 cylinder, 8 hp engine? Beats me!

    I installed the straight exhaust pipe, added 18# valve springs and zip tied the governor spring. I get up to about 39 mph now but when i let off the throttle it starts popping out of the exhaust! You think i need to lean out the jet? Maybe go down to a . 039 jet?

    • @Deucealive75
      @Deucealive75 10 місяців тому +1

      The popping has nothing to do with the main jet. When you close the throttle at high RPM it's not getting enough fuel and a lean condition is created.

    Ive lived my entire life so far in houston county ga.
    (42 years) never done much travelling but want to see the nevada desert
    Planning a mini bike desert road trip

    • @Black66
      @Black66  2 роки тому +1

      A stock engine would work for cruising the desert . Adding a billet flywheel and rod will add another level of safety and support performance mods. . While your in there might as well add a 265 cam with some valve springs to add some performance.

    Have you tried running a reverse cone megaphone (sp?) on your straight pipes? There is some exhaust pulse tuning benefit to those. I don't know if you could buy one or if you would have to fabricate one. I have seen plans on the web to build from flat sheet steel. Cut, roll, & weld. (I know you weld) I used to run one on my Honda SL100 back in junior high. (1971-72) Mine had no baffle - just straight tuned megaphone. It was loud, but that little bike was pretty fast with it on.
