I had an 85 CR125, the bike was indestructible, multiple seasons always started first kick I used to bottom out the shocks all the time cause the bike balanced perfect in the air. When I sold it it was still running perfect, my 84 CR 250 was crap compared to it.

I miss the period of about 85'-95' when it comes to dirt bikes, ATCs, and ATVs... Hell even snowmobiles. It was such a progressive gain in performance from the roots off-road recreational vehicles. May even consider it the golden era considering just how well the engineering development of the 2 stroke came along.

Takes me back to Dec 1985, me and my buddy jump in my 76 camaro, head on up to Denton Honda and go pick up some spark plugs and oil, and we happen to pass by the new line up of CR's, all shiny and ready to ride. Those were the days. Nice bike bro's!

I remember this CR like it was yesterday. I was still reeling from the 84-85, yellow to white, Yamaha YZ color changes. In 86, I still hadn’t completely recovered from the new “white” YZ bikes hitting the dirt. But I DO remember the 86 CR 125 looking fast standing still ! But it wasn’t enough 😂😂, you still couldn’t keep me away from the YZ’s. Even though we had to suffer all the way until 96, to get the infamous BLUE YZ’s and the upside down forks ! The rest is history, lol. SWEET BIKE KEN !!!!!

Then I learned how to ride thanks to my boy John Brinker I learned on a 84 CR . 80 then a 77 YZ 125. Then I went to a CR 125 Then 250 then a YZ 250. TT 250 Then street bikes CB 400 Four . KZ 600 KZ 750/ GPZ 500 FJ 600 / ZL600/ZL 900/ZL1000 /78 KZ1000/ 99 CBR600F4/99 CBR 929 / 02 Soft tail / 08V Rod / KTM 950SM / 01 custom Night Train/ 72 Sportster / Custom 74 Trouble Head Chopper / 2010 CVO Springer Soft Tail / 04 ZZR 1200. That was supposed to be my first bike. My dad and I gave the guy a deposit then said we’d be back tomorrow for it.
The next day he said he changed his mind and he wouldn’t sell it. I was the saddest I’ve ever been.
Few months later a got a 94 Xr200r for 500$ same price as the cr, but it needed a topend. 3 years later here I am with the same bike and the topend is again apart within a hour of the first rebuild.
Long story short i have no clue why I said that but I wish I got the cr125.
