I just got one today really cheap and mint in box. I am quite new to synthesis but within two hours I am rocking away with it. It is mind blowing. I just love it. I am 73!!!!!
That's awesome!!! I honestly think the best synth for you is the one that you will have fun with. No point having the most expensive synth if it's to hard to use or it's just not fun.
Cool! Thanks for this video :)I bought my first Monotribe 10 years ago and that's where my adventure with synthesis began. Three years ago I bought a second one :) Both are version 2 with midi in and midi out. I have a lot of equipment, but these two Monotribes are still a lot of fun, I love their simplicity and the power of their sound. Contrary to appearances, a sequencer with an activ step function for each instrument offers enormous possibilities when playing live. Monotribe makes a lot of noise, but you can use it creatively. I use them to create hard techno and ambient, but also for black metal (drums). A wonderful work of the brilliant engineer Tatsuya Takahashi: Democratization of synthesis - I love it!
Nice!!! I love the sound of the synth. I feel that it’s a little left of centre acid sound. I normally add a little de-noise plug to clean it up a little. A little noise adds some more life to the track hahahahaha
Good video, this was my first real synth and I'm so glad it was, so much fun to just turn on and play. Funnily enough I actually bought a Volca bass and Monotribe at the same time and ended up selling the Volca bass because I thought it sounded really flat.
The reality is it just sounds good and it forces you to be creative because its so limited but there is a lot that it can do that you wouldn't do on any other device like live changing of the vco octave. Its also the first instrument in the low cost analog renaissance. Also there is a version 2, its the drumlogue.
I haven't had a chance to have a play on the drumlogue. It looks pretty nice, the initial videos didn't grab me right away. I might see if Perfect Circuit has one at the shop next time I'm there.
This video is awesome, thank you! Curious how you went about adjusting the MIDI notes. Did you mod it to do MIDI? Or was it CV I/O? I just ordered mine, eager to get my hands on it. My plan is to jam out, record the audio output into my DAW, and slice and dice. The thing about syncing with the bpm is a real issue though, what app were u talking about in the vid? 0.0 thanks!
Thank you. I picked up the MIDITribe kit a while back. I didn't cut the case or anything so I still have the cables hanging out of the battery bay. Not the best but I know I would have messed it up if I cut it.
I did a little digging and couldn't see anyone using the sequencer with the Monotribe. If anyone has used that setup or seen it feel free to leave a comment.
That’s exactly what it does...perfect for spicing up those bland, insipid, limp synthwave me-too tracks or naff nu-metal, discjockey-and-guitar wankoffs...eh, @montazownianr1 ;)
I still use it today too! Great video, great synthesiser!
Thank you, I agree it's super fun and at the end of the day that is one of the most important things.

Nice video. No one ever acknowledges this, but the monotribe bass drum, even the stock one before mods, is absolutely wonderful.
I really like the kick too!!

I think the Monotribe sounds the best out of all the small boxes Korg has to offer.
I think it sounds great. Very funky. I hope we eventually see Behringer's Hirotribe.
I would love to see Korg revisit it and see how they could improve on it.
@@craigwilliamsmusicI think that's what the Monologue was meant to be, wasn't it?

Long Life monotribe…en mi vida,adoro mi tribe . ♥️.. Thank u ..
You can get some Moog type frequency modulation and filter accentuation. I love mine!
I would be all in if they made a bigger synth with a little more control.
Dude, you sold me. Gonna sleep on it and probably get one off reverb tomorrow morning 😂✊
hahahahahah nice, have fun. They're super fun.
Added Midi input to mine, game changer.....
100% whilst it’s great for jamming without midi to get that ease of use I think it needs midi
Selling my monotribe was a big mistake. I got really weird analog FM sounds out of it. I got some volcas now, but it's not the same.
I do love the Volca’s too but I think that the main synth sound just has more character and weight to it.
There are mod kits that add midi
I have the MIDI kit fitted to my unit. I get a lot more happy accidents when I don't use MIDI though.

Take a valve compressor on that drum and crank it. Big drums.
I have ran them through some overdrive and compression and the result is surprisingly good.
nice. a little banger
I forget about it and when I pull it out to use I always have a load of fun with it.
Is it possible to use the Korg SQ64 sequencer in conjunction with the Monotribe?...or two?
I did a little digging and couldn't see anyone using the sequencer with the Monotribe. If anyone has used that setup or seen it feel free to leave a comment.
@@craigwilliamsmusic
I will wait till my SQ64 arrives and let you know.
It should do as it has the CV outs.
Thats what i'm thinking but I'm not 100% sure. I didn't want to give you the wrong info.
It's something that Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers usually use
It def has that grit to it.
traded mine long ago for some weed lmao
Hahahahahahaha
Blips, farts, noise, unmusical crap, well whatever make you happy ;)
Each to their own I guess, thanks for watching.
Noise is legit creative expression. Being "musical" imposes limitations.
Music is where you find it
