- Making videos costs money, there's no escaping it. You need gear, time, travel. It all adds up.
One great resource for creators is the Amazon Affiliate Program. Many creators have made videos about monetizing your UA-cam channel through taking advantage of becoming an Amazon Associate though the Affiliate or Influencer program and it sounds great, especially if you haven't yet reached UA-cams requirements for monetizing your channel.
After some consideration I signed myself us and made a couple of sales in no time. Unfortunately Amazon have their own unlisted criteria and they have decided I don't meet their secret criteria and have canceled my Amazon affiliate account.
Although this video is a bit of a downer I do want to state that while publishing this video I did receive my commission cheque for the two sales made though my affiliate links and I do think its a great service for creators, I'm just disappointed that Amazon cant be more transparent about their criteria and wanted to let you all know so that you don't fall into the same trap I did.

Sorry to hear about the lens 😬 Dropped my M6 mark ii with the Sigma 18-35mm down on to some rocks last summer. Luckily it was only the VND filter that cracked, the lens and the camera was fine 😅 But you heart stops for a couple of seconds when that happens… hopefully it won’t be to costly for you to get it fixed!
I also had my Amazon affiliate account canceled the first time. Waited a while for my channel to grow a bit more, and for now it’s still active, but there’s not much sales going on 😄
Nice to know I’m not the only one. Yea, when I saw the camera and lens seperate I assumed the worst. I’m lucky it was just the lens.
I’m not worried about the Amazon thing but it’s not something I’ve seen other talk about so though it’s worth putting out in the world for other to be aware of.
What level of subscriptions did you get to before signing back up?
@@RustyRoj I think it was around 1000subs… but I think you need 5K + subs for the Amazon affiliate to bring in any kind of amount that matters 😊
I’m not expecting it to make much. Just enough for a tank of fuel. Low and then for a weekend away to photograph some landscapes. Well, I’m almost half way to 1000 now. Still more work to do.
Hello Roj It happened to me too... Some one used my link for big order at amazon and it showed me that I was going to get 290 CAN dollars :).. than they Canceled my affiliate... I will try to apply again once I reach 500 subscribers 🤞 good luck with your camera.. you could try to put back ribbon cable in place and use hot glue to keep it in there....✌
Yes I’ll apply again too. I made the video because it’s not something I’ve seen discussed. It’s always recommended to small channels without mentioning the risks.
