I took some pix in FV mode with auto ISO on. Using 35mm f/1.4 manual focus lens (TTArtisan) and set my aperture wide open. So Shutter speed is what I adjusted my lighting (sun light) with. I think it is a cool way to shoot with the m6II.
Q&A1: What is your experience with zoom lens's and nature shots? I've gotten a couple good shots, but a lot of duds with my Sigma 150-600mm (got a sweet flash sale deal last Christmas holiday). Very new to photography, needed a hobby to pass the time the last year+. Maybe my IS is incorrect or my thought process on ISO vs F-stop vs shutter speed it not correct. Long shots I stabilize on a tripod and fluid video mount (cheaper than a gimbal). Q&A2: What is your experience with star night photos. The blood moon video was cool and would be really interested to know how you did the time lapse of the sky as well. Just looking for cool nature type things to do with my Canon M6 Mark II. BTW, what drew me to your videos was the one on the Canon EF-S 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS Nano USM lens. I was trying to find something to round out my list below. I have the kit lens and a 2 prime lenses for more portrait shots of kids and family. However, no good walking around lens. This REALLY was the perfect lens. Was able to pick up a good condition used one on eBay for $195 USD (normally $599 USD). I already had the EF to EFM adapter. EF-M 15-45mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM (kit lens) Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Canon EF-S 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS Nano USM
Easily my 9mm Laowa. It’s just such a unique field of view that opens you up to interesting compositions. Otherwise, I really do enjoy shooting with a 24mm.
Great video! I’ve been thinking about pairing some manual vintage glass with my Canon cameras for video (would love to see content about that). I know that the iris would be manual but I’m curious to know if auto ISO works with manual lenses on the M6ii. I’m wondering if the camera boosts the electronic signal based on the amount of light hitting the sensor, independent of lens data (ie in the case of manual lenses). Can you confirm if the M6ii offers auto ISO with this manual lens? Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!
@@RustyRoj I appreciate that thank you! Canon’s auto iso changes are smooth and subtle, excellent for run n gun - one less thing to control (if manually focussing) :)
I’ve been having a great time with my manual lenses. All my manual lenses are native M mounts for the M6 mark II. They shoot like any other lens other than not sending aperture and focal length info to the camera. You just have to set the shutter to be able to fire without a lens on for the camera to work. I’m not sure what you mean by “work well” can you elaborate?
@@RustyRoj I’m thinking of getting an m6 mk ii, and putting my old Pentax lens through an adapter, but I’m worried I will lose the camera functions with a limited lens, or that they wouldn’t be easy to use on the camera, especially for focusing
Ah right I understand now. No the only functions you will loose is the ability to change aperture on the camera it’s self and obvious autofocus. Everything else should function the same. Even auto ISO works with a manual lens on it. Obviously you’ll need to shoot in Manual mode though. Shutter and aperture priority modes won’t work since the camera can’t adjust the lens.

I will have to give that a try.
I agree ☝️
Thanks man.

I never use Auto ISO so I haven’t checked. I’ll take a look and let you know.

I’ve checked and can confirm that auto ISO does work on manual lenses.
@@RustyRojthat’s great, what fun! Thanks so much again for checking, hoping to see more manual lens reviews on your channel ;)
