- This latest BioTrekkie video delves into Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4's fun yet horrifying introduction of the bone-eating moopsie alien (Episode 2: "I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee"). Bone-eating (osteophagy) is a real phenomenon in the animal kingdom, so come learn about some examples of animals that eat bones and their surprising adaptations, as well as a possible science explanation for how the moopsie may do so. It's another fun installment to teach real-world science via representations in Star Trek. Enjoy!
Oopsie Moopsy! 😂 Everytime you said "Bones" so emphatically I substituted Dr. McCoy in and the inner dialog became very interesting!
As always, this was pHun! (With the pH to dissolve those bones!)
Love it! Thanks Dave! 🖖
Your videos are always the best. Fun and educational! Thank you!

True fact, I have never been hit on the head by a vulture dropping a bone from the sky. I have seen seagulls drop bivalves of various sorts on rocks and eat the tasty bits exposed. Another stunning revelation of knowledge from my favorite science advisor and all around fantastic human!
Aw, you're always so kind-- thanks! Crows have been known to drop nuts to crack, too. Thanks again! 🖖
Oh this intro is incredible!!!!!
Yay, thanks Dr. Ann Marie! 🖖
I love this! This shortie is soooooo cool!🖖🏾💜🖖🏾
Thanks so much, Tamia! Hope you're doing great! 🖖
Great video and information, Mohamed.
Thanks Chuck! 🖖
So cute, yet so deadly. Why, Moopsie? Why????
I was just wondering if and when I would hear you talk about Moopsy, either on The 7th Rule or somewhere else. I am glad to have stumbled upon this!
Though, I did hope you could have gone more in-depth on how it would drink the bones and how its fangs/teeth would help with that process, and what the teeth in reality would look like. But this will do.
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks!
aaaarrrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhh!
love it, thanks for another great vid
Yay, thank you for watching and the kind feedback! 🖖
MOOPSIE!!!
Greetings from Cyprus
When did you have time to prepare the video?
Moopsie was first seen a few hours ago!
LLAP 🖖
My time-turner was functioning well... ha ha! Thanks for watching! 🖖
❤ Dr. Noor! He makes science cool 😎🖖🏽
You're very kind -- thanks Wanda! 🖖
Fascinating!
Glad you enjoyed it -- thanks Linda!
After one’s bones are digested with they still be alive and a sack of meat of mostly water?
I'm pretty confident melting bones would mess things up pretty badly inside and they'd not be alive... 😂
MOOPsy!!🦴☠🦴☠
Fun!
Moopsie💜🖖🏾
Yay Moopsie! Love y'all! 🖖
