He must not be a cat owner. Cause any cat owner can relate to her chasing down the doc. I cracked up!
I am a cat owner and got the joke, but it was too much to have two storylines centered around cat jokes back to back. Surely, theres more they can do with Dr. T'ana than cat jokes
@@joseaguilar3323 They can do more and keep the cat jokes, they're hilarious!
@@Qq-xs1fz I am not against cat jokes, but they should space them out or it becomes monotonous
@@joseaguilar3323 I do agree they probably shouldn't have been back to back like that
Sean, I do not agree with your dislike regarding the B story with Tendi. The whole Tendi adventure with T’Ana is PERFECT and hilarious! I loved the whole chase going after the doctor just like you’re chasing your pet cat trying to get her to go to the Vet. Pure joy and an episode that doesn’t deserve any downs.
100% agree
Fookin Shawn Ferret shouldn't be working there!
@@TheReally4rob 😂
Don't you mean it was "purrfect"?
I agree. I loved the whole chase scene, but I think the setup for the story wasn't done the best. Still funny!
The Tendi/T'Ana thing gets an UP from me, because it's a running gag that doctors make the worst patients. ;)
And so do cats. Ever tried to take a cat to the vet?
@@silversonic1 That's the reason why it's so funny that it is so long. If Doctors and Cats both hate to go to the doctor, this problem has now been squared for a doctor that is a cat.
*Edit* It has probably been Hypotenuse'd. The principle still stands, though!
Also, never buy a house from an Electrician
I loved how Shaxs never said Mugato the same way twice
I thought I was the only one that noticed that!
@@Lady_JewelsBoimler makes a joke about it at the very beginning
Sean my man, the Tendi side story was hilarious. TOTALLY did not deserve a down.
Mariner called the feringi the "last outpost type"
They should call the show "Star Trek: Callback"
That was great. Ferengi with laser whips
One little easter egg people might've missed: T'Ana's number, 08.019. If you change that to a date, Aug 19th, it's the birthday for both Jonathan Franks and Gene Roddenberry.
I for one was really happy with Tendi's story because I've been wanting her and T'Ana to have a mentor mentee episode and this was really close to that.
I love seeing the doc behave like a normal cat and scamper about on all fours like a cat actually does. I am figuring the Catians may just stand because an upright humanoid form is what Starfleet tech is designed for.
We haven't seen the good Doctor scent-marking...yet. Or maybe it gets confined to just 'Red Dwarf'.
Tendi's whole story is a callback nod to all the random dumb people throughout the trek universe who hate getting their physical. Like every captain ever.
Yeah, in fact I was surprised he didn’t call that out. I love how after she is like oh that was actually real easy.
That Mugato sex scene is made more shocking, after the setup, because my brain was all, "Oh! The boys are gonna hide in the old hollow log. What a classic bugs bunny skit." Then, bam! Didn't see that, uhh, coming...
The fact that Mariner calls the Ferangi out for being "Last Outpost" style Ferangi gets an up from me. XD
"It likes to watch" was the line that had me rolling.
I love how Shax just walked in and watched the beat-down like it was no big deal.
He's seen Ruthorford in action and he knows Mariner's rep so he probably thinks that was completely normal and he is comfortable among his people.
fun fact, Mugatu from Zoolander was named after the Mugato because Ben Stiller is a big Star Trek fan
He also had that ridiculous hairstyle made to look like those horned white apes.
Yes the Tendi T'ana story was filler. It was a B story. But it was so good. Tendi had a montage. Then her saying f it I'm gonna finish my mission. Then chasing T'ana around the ship in full house cat mode. As a cat owner who's had to give a cat medication it didn't want to take that scene was accurate af.
I loved the kzinti showing up. And so many ups this season and so few downs. That .makes me so happy.
I totally felt like the scene when Boimler and Rutherford were hiding from the Mugato under the tree roots was a reference to LoTR. Same with the the scene just after when Boimler bumps into Rutherford knocking down the cliff, just like finding a shortcut to… mushrooms!
Totally! I was a little dissapointed these scenes were not in Cetacean Observations.
I'm not here to assert dominance over the video, I just like to watch.
Not much you're asserting dominance over these days old man
We all like the watch... there is a reason for why the holodeck exists
Any cat owner knows the unique ‘challenges’ trying to catch a cat that doesn’t want to get caught and sought get the B plot. UP!
No "UP" for the fact that this "Mugato Hunter" is based on the "Crocodile Hunter" and is having an amazing aussie dialect? Or is this more an easter egg for you?
Yeah, he was clearly a nod to Steve Irwin!
A Tellarite Steve Irwin!
That one wannabe Mugato-Expert was like a Tellarite Steve Irvin with the Australian Accent
Sean, the Otis character was speaking with a Maine accent, like an old sea captain or lobsterman from Down East. Probably not obvious to people outside Maine, but we definitely recognized that "Ayuh" and "Stah-fleet" when we heard it.
His name's Honus. You guys need to watch with the subtitles on.
There was a name check for The Last Outpost in that Quark gag
I loved how Mariner pointed out the obvious flaw in Ferengi culture. "You can just replicate stuff, the stuff you buy with latinum you can just replicate! You guys are dumb!"
So watching Star Trek Generations last night and Data re-tells Geordi the joke he finally gets. Y’know with the punchline :”the clown can stay but the Ferengi in the gorilla suit has to go!” and in this episode we see a Ferengi wearing a mugatu pelt. Soooo....was that a subtle nod to that line or did I just read too much into it?
Brilliant!
The obvious jurassic park chase music when the mugato escape had me!
I say Mugato, you say Gumato...
But, no. The B-plot was awesome and brought back the romance between Shaxs and T'ana(Not Tiana!), which made for a funny awkwardness moment.
Shaxs also misspronounces Mugato, every time he says it.
What about the callback to Troi’s workout outfit from the first scene?
Yes...and that exercise was the same she and Beverly were doing
Thanks for calling out the Kzin; they're only in Star Trek because science fiction author Larry Niven adapted his own Known Space story "Slaver Weapon" (featuring the Kzin) into an Animated Series episode.
Sean, The read 5 books sound like an old Rodney Dangerfield Joke. His joke was he started his first book. It worked out good. Now he is going read another. Loved your review. Keep going with these videos. They are great. Loved your shirt, too. Thank you.
I hope we see Otis again. I love the bit with the bar manager yelling at him.
Unseen twist, the bar manager is the ships AI yelling at him
Sean, yeah you are getting beat up like a redshirt on a planet by himself.... but this was good with the episode last week. It is building on the relationship with the doctor and Tendi. The doctor thought she would give up and is a little proud she got her to do more. (Plus the whole chasing the cat to give it medicine. ) UP!
Seán, I have to disagree with your down for Tendi. I think it was good for her to have a solo adventure and progress her career, and even gain some more confidence in dealing with both her patients and her boss. Rutherford got an entire episode in S1 dedicated to figuring out his career path, Boimler got several episodes to figure out where in Starfleet he's happiest, even Mariner's career choices get highlighted often, so it was nice to see Tendi get to shine. And it's not often you get to see a Caitian get chased by an Orion so... I loved it.
Okay, I'm gonna say it - I actually really really enjoyed Tendi's story this episode. it was about her growth as a character, being able to stand up to an authority figure.
Sean has never tried to put flea treatment on a cat
the shirt 10/10
😆 I give the scene where Boimler and Rutherford finally leave the tree log an up because all three mugatos are conked out and Boimler says they must've tired themselves out and Rutherford's response is, "Ew, even the watcher."
I also give Tendi chasing T'Ana an up. That was hilarious seeing T'Ana hissing and batting at Tendi from under a shuttle, and then her response to Tendi breaking her arm. I can see your point on it being mostly filler, but it was golden as filler goes.
Your shirt gets another up this week Sean. Very nice
When you leave a dislike on a premiere that hasn't even started yet, you are definitely just a troll.
BuT nEw TrEk Is FaKe TrEk
Etc.
YT doesn't care. Likes and dislikes are all the same. YT calls it ENGAGEMENT. That "dislike" was just helping to feed the algorithm.
Are we just not going to mention the Mariner said she isn't Section 31?
The Mariner knife trick was an ALIENS reference (Ash & Hudson)
That mugato hunter might be a dark joke on the grizzly man who got eaten by bears in Alaska.
I figured the (late) Crocodile hunter from Australia.
Yeah I got crocodile hunter vibes too
Crossed with Steve Irwin.
I always have an up for Tendi. 😉
The green guy said ‘thank the maker’ at one point..
Something C3PO says..
So…. A freaking Star Wars reference!!!
And the dagger game was made popular by Aliens.
Eh, they say it all the time in Dragon Age too
@@Novarcharesk and Maker religions are a major thing in the lore for Babylon 5
As always, Seán & Kris, and all the cultured folks, thank you so very much for the video.
I'm really loving this season!!
Barman Ottis has a Maine accent. Ok, I had to just throw that out there.
You don't want to go down THAT Jeffries tube, that Jeffries tube's got a history!
well, cripes, being from Maine I didn't notice! LOL Sounded normal...
Love your shirt! \
The bartender was a clear takeoff from pet cemetery neighbor warning people with the Maine accent
DUDE, this was a DARK episode and funny as hell!!!!!!!
Mugato, Gumato mister roboto.
"Mugato dung, fresh, tangy." that deserves an up...especially after he called it a Gumato 2 seconds earlier.
And I think the Tendi thing was great. AND the whole idea was, to me, an easter egg too...how many times did people NOT get their physicals in time, right? Trying to catch the doctor and her total cat-like chase was funny...hiding under the shuttle and swiping with claws is so exactly what cats would do. Hiding herself as a number...uh huh.
Wonderful episode, I'm loving season 2.
Thank you for making this video 👍
I love the idea 💡
Did you mention that they name dropped "The Last Outpost" in the episode?
Sean! I absolutely love your shirt. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I can't believe that scene with the 3 mugato made it past the censors. That scene definitely wouldn't have made it in in Roddenberry and Berman era. Just goes to show how much has changed since then
Bones is definitely the best doctor. My favorite TOS character, too.
I love that the most caring, moral, and empathetic one on the show is also this constantly irritated drunk.
Okay, I'm exaggerating when I say he's a drunk, but not by a lot.
I think the 'I think he likes to watch' line is a nod to the popular 80s adult video "I Like to Watch", especially given the circumstances.
Seán feels dirty? This is news??
Seen that somebody already mentioned the LOTR references, hiding from the Mugato/Gumato under the tree roots and then falling over the cliff.
Sean Ferrick: “ I do love that whip”!
You forgot when Boimler and Rutherford confront Mariner, Rutherford name drops Section 31.
Love the pet semetry old school reference used in so many shows that is the barman...
I thought the B-plot was brilliant. Just brilliant.
That shirt is flattering on you. 😍
The tendi and doctor story was hilarious doctors make the worst patients and when it's a cat as well
Down: Anbo-Jutsu ring doesn't have classic anime titles Urusei Yatsura and Dirty Pair characters names written around the ring and on the walls like in "The Icarus Factor", it just has the kanji "sei". They could've at least actually had Kei, Yuri or Lum as background crew members... :)
It took me 6 minutes before I noticed the cracking t-shirt!
This lower deck episode was definitely not for kids..lol
Always have loved the Kzinti... You should catch them in THEIR own 'Known Space' universe by Larry Niven...
Don't know if you mentioned this one but they make a call out to the 'last outpost' when describing the ferengi
Great shirt! Question, do you think cetacean operations on all ships is a response to the probe or have whales/other similar species now at a human equivalent level?
Took me until he mentioned the shirt before I noticed it 😂 It's fantastic!
We have seen fully aquatic species like the Xindi Aquatics, so it's not impossible there are other fully aquatic species in Starfleet/the Federation, and they would require dedicated facilities.
No mention of Boimler joking about all the different ways to say Mugato?
The spacecraft being destroyed by a Tractor Beam is a callback to STTOS Tomorrow is Yesterday.
The pineapple on display in the captain's room is an old symbol for swingers who are ready to mingle. Especially in seafaring cultures.
Makes sense. TNG made it clear very early on that the attitudes towards sex for most people were far more open. Even more open than today, really.
1:54 His Ex is a salt vampire after all.
That voyeur mugato made me deeply uncomfortable. Hope he had some Kleenex...
Nope nope nope. The Tendi storyline was hilarious and effective. Not a down at all!
Honestly, the Mugato porn scene I could have done without.
1:18 A moth flys around
Did anyone else think Boimler and Rutherford hiding in the tree roots while a Mugato was sniffing for them above them was a not so subtle not to Lord of the Rings?
There's the point as well were Mariner asks if the ferrengi are from the last outpost.
I think one aspect that I’ve not heard one single word about (From ANY UA-cam analysis) on the Shax/Ka-Shon storyline is the parallel to Worf and Tasha’s arc….
oops and doons
During the car chase. Wasn't that a reference to Captain Pike in their way?
Where did you get that George & Gracie shirt?
I don't disagree with the Tendi thing. Her plot was fairly inconsequential. But I still enjoyed it. I love the doc. And having her running all over like a cat was funny.
Otis is a total New Englander. Sounds like Jud Crandall from the original Pet Semetary movie
Hmmm.... I'm no prude, but I think the sex scene might have been a 'tad' too much? Was sure that was getting a down.
A+ thumbnail
You miss a big on in the bar there is a crew member with a Visor
A dirty episode by Star Trek standards indeed! 😄
9:52 Wait a sec..... If you go back to the of Star Trek IV the voyage home. At the end of the film showing the court-martial of the crew the very beginning scene of the Court martial we can see a feline like member of the council on the crowd watching the trial. Either that is the same species of the doctor Caitain) or it is Kzinti in live action....
Loved that the bartender had a Mainer accent lol
Hmm, seeing similarities to fry and human horn story and stuff from other place leila.
Tendi and T'Ana seems similar to Rutherford and Shaxs, they both chased around a superior and had to pressure them.
I thought the Mugato mating scene was funny as hell.
