    Seve was box office. The most charismatic man I have ever seen. Saw him play the B&H at The Belfry when he was long past his prime. He still drew a crowd and played shots around the green that were incredible. People genuinely loved him.

    Loved that Mark and would love to share a moment. I was at Wentworth one year with my cousin and the buzz waiting for Several teeing off was just amazing. We were stood down there, as you know, on the left of the fairway. Several pulled his shot and landed by a very small tree and we were only 6 feet behind the ball. After asking for a ruling for a newly planted tree and talking with the officials, he went to his bag and picked out 2 clubs. Bear in mind everybody was just so excited to even get that close to him. My cousin was playing off 5 at the time and better than I was ever going to get. I asked him what he would do and all he said to me was, after seeing Several eyeing it up was, " we might just see something special here". Sure enough, he hit a shot just right and high of the flag that just stays in my memory. It was something that I've never experienced since in Golf. Truly amazing. Wish it was in some BBC archives somewhere. I had a fantastic weekend but Seve, and that shot, every time I see Wentworth, sums up golf for me. Thanks for spending the time to read this. Love your stuff!!

      @@davidorourke3630 I know how you feel. Will never forget one shot from Woburn, British Masters. He was in the trees left on 17th, pin back left, chip out material.
      From about 85 yards hooked a sw that must have moved 30 yards right to left in air to about 4 foot.
      To this day I still cannot figure out how that is possible.

    WOW!!! Great Interview...had to cancel what I was doing & watch this as Seve was the reason I really fell in love with golf...if he's #1 in Bob Vokey's eyes regarding the short game then I really don't think there's an argument, both absolute #legends of the game for differing reasons, nice work...your content just goes from strength to strength & is now much more diverse also...you really are the original & No 1 for golf lovers out there 👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    Seve remains the talented golfer ever, when Tiger Woods was asked to describe Seve in one word he said “Genius”.

      The BBC tribute to Seve has a great segment where Tiger discusses his first bunker session with Seve. He got schooled, of course, leaving Tiger very humbled.

      If you really listen, all he does is brag. It’s weird because he has no reason to. I have his clubs in the bag, and they are as genius as the players he makes them for

    Last time I saw Seve was in Dubai, maybe 2002.
    He had just birdied a par three and as he came off the green and walked by me I said to him “easy game” and he, somewhat ruefully I thought, said:”yes, sometimes...”

    This is a wedge system marketing
    info-mercial. Seve was a one wedge guy who didn’t need 4 wedges. Did everything with a 56 degree.

    gday Mark could you talk about shafts concerning wedges. Most wedges come with dynamic gold wedge flex shafts around 130 grams but if my iron shafts are 105 grams does it make sense to have heavier and stiffer shafts in my wedges? I have heard pros usually go a flex lower in their wedges. Anyway I hope you could shed some light on the issue. Cheers bruh

    There’s really just one word here, that is - magic. Magic in that you are giving Titleist the kind of legitimate exposure they couldn’t achieve otherwise. This “get” as it were, with Mr. Vokey is ample proof that your decision to work with this company was well founded.

    Guess what, Steve did not go chasing yardage or spin, leant on his short game. There is a lesson there for all the youngsters watching. 😤

      Seve was one of the most erratic drivers that the tour has ever seen. His short game saved him

    • @bobscottjnr
      @bobscottjnr 5 років тому

      Clearly, you never watched him play in person: he was a pretty long off the tee and chased after practically every drive. After all, Seve was the best recovery shot artist since Walter Hagen, so it made strategic sense. Still, I agree that kids should emulate his approach. Hit it as far as you can, but be prepared to hit recovery shots and get up and down; that is pretty much how the youngsters play these days!
