Seve, the greatest golfplayer i`ve ever seen. I grew up watching him on tv and it was fantastic seeing him at full force! Rest in peace you magnificent man!
I agree. I love them both. Obviously he loved the man and has great memories of spending most of his life with him. You can tell how upset he is, immediately cries and hugs himself. Great guy and lovely words
Nick Faldo is one of the best personalities in golf. A compassionate gentleman with a great outlook on life. Even after he gets emotional, he brings it back with a little humor. His outpour of emotion for Seve shows his true character, and shows what a man Seve was. Great upload. thanks for sharing this and showing what a great guy Nick is.
Frankly, nobody even cared about the Ryder Cup before Seve. We dominated that event, and it was Seve's fire that turned that around, and not only made Europe competitive, but dominant over the US for a number of years . I remember watching it as a kid in the mid 80s, and you could see how much it mattered to Seve. You looked at his face during his matches, and you saw it was war out there. He made the Ryder Cup matter. Such a great player.
One legend showing his respect, admiration and love for another. Fierce tour competitors, proud Ryder Cup teammates, loyal friends. Great tribute by Nick, to a man of class and dignity who left us far too soon... Severiano Ballesteros.
this actually brings so many good memories. I remember those times. Langer, the cold german with lots of putt problems. Then Faldo, the englishman with an amazing swing who had the looks of James bond. Then you had Seve, the spirited latin who could get a trick out of his sleeve and beat them all. Then you had Watson, who seemed to play golf with no emotions at all trying to beat them all. I was very lucky to see them play live and I still remember that day and those swings 20 years later
Sir Nick proves (to all those people who knocked him for being an emotionless golfing robot), that he's a human with great memories and emoitions of Seve. Well said Nick.
Faldo gave a short interview after Seve's funeral on the sky sports documentary sporting greats: Seve Ballesteros, They were both 20 years old and rivals, Seve said on the first tee 'we should be friends' Faldo burst into tears just talking about it, Faldo has never really showed any emotion in Golf, yet whenever Seve was around him they'd both be in tears, they had a unique bond.
Nick's simply a very decent, emotional person who, in his great years felt he needed to detach himself and focus completely on his game. Hence his success.
Thanks for posting this. There is nothing I enjoy watching more than the Ryder Cup. No one meant more to it than Seve - and nothing meant more to Seve.
Faldo appeared cold and unemotional when he was playing, but I remember when he turned around his Ryder cup match on the last 2 holes in 1995 to earn a point that Europe needed to regain the trophy, he walked of the final green with tears in his eyes. That was how much it meant to him, and obviously he'd managed to bottle up his emotions during the match, but it all came flooding out once he sank the final outt.
Back then Nick was like a robot didn't chat to anyone on tour that much and focused all time...yet mention Seve to him and he is beyond self control...T H E P O W E R O F S E V E..lights up like a beacon !!
folks...always remember....to be a great golfer....one must be a great shot-maker....and before Tiger....there was Seve....and he was a Magic and Electric.
Envy, perhaps the human failing to be pitied most. Unable to control a need to publicly share this view on a tribute clip to Seve, surely the saddest comment to be seen on YT. I wish you well.
I will guess you are an American. As the next 20 years pass, perhaps you will reflect on your character, perhaps not. But you will reflect on the struggles you have to face as things fall apart in the States, and perhaps Seve will be an inspiration to you as times get tougher. I hope so, it will help you. Good luck.
Gazza7 "Guessing" a nationality is akin to playing the "race" card. As for struggles the States have faced, most have been saving Euro's asses from Germany, Fascism, Communism, and flat out stupidity. Seve an inspiration, compared to who? My Euro inspirations include Churchill, Thatcher, and, well, that's about it!
Faldo is plenty emotional post career...now he's all chatty, clever, and funny (well, attempts). As Azinger said, yeah, don't be fooled, still same Faldo. Saw a bit of that when Faldo last captained Ryder Cup..it was him in a microcosm. Secretive, Arrogant, Chippy, Self involved. Obviously he had a Euro connection with Seve, and kudos to him for chatting about it. I mostly just get annoyed because he never finishes a blasted sentence. God Faldo, finish a thought.
Of course you have to be cold when you are competing your trying to win tournaments for you and your family to put bread on the table and for them to have a good life...yes there are sacrifices that have to be made so im still baffled as to why anyone would would want to put Nick down how pathetic !! Yet you mention anything remotely about Seve he just melts like we all do !!
This shows the power of Seve. No-one else could have had this effect on Nick Faldo. Seve touched us all and never has a golfer been so loved.
Seve was the King & always will be.
Like Arnold Palmer in America.
The one & only forever king.
I'm 64 yrs old. I tutor 2 young boys, brothers aged 12 and 10, in golf. They know who Seve was. ❤

There's nothing as a grown tough man breaking as he talks of a lost friend, a beautiful moment
Sir Nick proves (to all those people who knocked him for being an emotionless golfing robot), that he's a human with great memories and emoitions of Seve. Well said Nick.
Faldo may have been cold on the golf course but clearly, off the course, a loyal friend, which is what matters.
So true
Legend
I find it very difficult to watch Sir Nick is on the verge of breaking into tears. A year on we still miss Seve so so much x
I always thought Faldo should had play James Bond´role. What a gentleman and what an honest and heart felt tribute to his friend/competitor
R.I.P Seve
Faldo gave a short interview after Seve's funeral on the sky sports documentary sporting greats: Seve Ballesteros, They were both 20 years old and rivals, Seve said on the first tee 'we should be friends' Faldo burst into tears just talking about it, Faldo has never really showed any emotion in Golf, yet whenever Seve was around him they'd both be in tears, they had a unique bond.
i really want to find that
Faldo has teared up on screen several times, including one I belief about being fined so slow play.
Him any Seve were obviously close though.
Nick's simply a very decent, emotional person who, in his great years felt he needed to detach himself and focus completely on his game. Hence his success.

Like Nick, some people who are emotional have to be cold, and appear cold to battle their emotions. Nick and Seve, both top top blokes!!

Nice words from Faldo about a legend.
Nothing more you can say
Beautiful! Seve and Nick, true legends!
Great seeing this unseen side of Nick Faldo. A real class guy who obviously misses his friend.
Fuck this still gets me. Seve was just a godlike. Met him once briefully, what a warmth.
FALDO: LEGEND. SEVE: LEGEND. XXXXXX Peace.

Thanks for sharing. Nick really held it together and gave a lovely tribute to Seve.
Seve didn't need to win a tournament...he just needed to turn up to make the tournament !!!!!!!
Grande Seve, Grande Nick.
Seve wasn't the greatest golfer of all time but he was golf's greatest ever shot maker.
“I’ve played with them all & Seve in his prime played the greatest golf I’ve ever seen” Nick Faldo
Theres only 1 seve legend
Indeed, and thank god that self-important douche is off the radar.
Envy, perhaps the human failing to be pitied most. Unable to control a need to publicly share this view on a tribute clip to Seve, surely the saddest comment to be seen on YT. I wish you well.
Wow, what an honor. Thank you kindly.

There was no wayEurope were going to lose in 1987.
