There is no law that says a president can not be charged with a crime. There is a relatively new guideline from the DOJ that says a president can not be indicted but it is just a memo that was written during the Nixon era, if Ford hadn't pardoned Nixon then I assume prosecutions would go further after he resigned(if hadn't resigned he would have most definitely been impeached). Most legal experts assume that if a president did commit a crime that needed to be prosecuted congreess would just impeach him and then prosecute him. Back to your original point though there is no law or anything in the constitution that says a president or anyone is actually above the law. I believe that we need to disallow lawyers from running for office in the House and Senate. Lawyers are taught in law school to bend truth if need be in order to obtain an answer they are looking for. Lawyers sometimes represent people and practices that they know before hand are false or destructive. The reason I know this and don't guess about it is because I have asked lawyers this question in private. Watching the Feinsteins, the Harris', the Warrens, the Schumers and the Pelosis it is no wonder that, as a result of them all being lawyers, our government now only spends time arguing falsehoods and preparing for reelection every year.

There is no law that says a president can not be charged with a crime. There is a relatively new guideline from the DOJ that says a president can not be indicted but it is just a memo that was written during the Nixon era, if Ford hadn't pardoned Nixon then I assume prosecutions would go further after he resigned(if hadn't resigned he would have most definitely been impeached). Most legal experts assume that if a president did commit a crime that needed to be prosecuted congreess would just impeach him and then prosecute him. Back to your original point though there is no law or anything in the constitution that says a president or anyone is actually above the law. I believe that we need to disallow lawyers from running for office in the House and Senate. Lawyers are taught in law school to bend truth if need be in order to obtain an answer they are looking for. Lawyers sometimes represent people and practices that they know before hand are false or destructive. The reason I know this and don't guess about it is because I have asked lawyers this question in private. Watching the Feinsteins, the Harris', the Warrens, the Schumers and the Pelosis it is no wonder that, as a result of them all being lawyers, our government now only spends time arguing falsehoods and preparing for reelection every year.
